As a college BIT Mesra is a great option. Few of my friends attended the college and here are their thoughts regarding it.
Overall, it is a good college.
There are quite a few drawbacks when it comes to BIT Mesra. Let me elaborate further on the same for you:
In my opinion, you can’t expect to share ideas or build an impact without this kind of social interaction.
From my friend’s experience, the campus needs better security measures, more medical stores, a policy that regulated food prices (the canteens can be expensive), and a campaign to open the lawns.
BIT Mesra placement highlights shows the average package for CSE/IT to be around INR 10 LPA. Here are the placement highlights for CSE and IT branches.
Placement average | 92% |
Highest CTC | 50 LPA |
Major recruiters | Microsoft, Walmart, Amazon, Accenture |
Each year around 90% of students get internships as well.
This happened with one of my friends when she was in her first year. As we all know it is quite compulsory for every student to sign the register in order to get attendance every day and this regularly happens outside the mess before students enter to have dinner.
It happened on that important day when my friend was tired of signing every day and she chose to sign for the whole month on the same day. However, the majority of it was compelled by the fact that the register isn't checked thoroughly but on that particular day, the superintendent checked the register and complained further. Eventually, the DSW's office inflicted a black dot to serve as a warning to other students. The above incident has caused many laughing riots on several occasions.
BITS Pilani is more famous and has better industry recognition. It offers a lot of academic freedom to students. It follows a zero attendance rule policy. Due to the strict selection process, the peer group of the institute is excellent. You will be sharing your lectures with some of the sharpest minds in the country. Owing to better industry connect, students get better internship opportunities from BITS Pilani.
At first, I would like you to know that there are certain causes behind the decline in quality. I've mentioned below a few of them here.
Being said that, the institute has many pros too.
BIT Mesra isn’t a good option for M.Tech. It doesn’t have a good research culture. The placement opportunities offered are average. As per BIT Meshra placement trends, some tech companies such as Infosys, IBM, PWC, Hyundai, Amdocs, Cognizant, etc. recruit M.Tech students. Data Analyst, Java Developer, etc. are some of the common job roles offered by these companies.
A relative of mine used to be a student of BIT Mesra. She and a number of her peers have chosen Mr. Anup Kumar Keshri to be the best professor at BIT Mesra.
He is thankful to Professor Choudhary for teaching him the ‘Language of Engineers’, on which Professor Keshri did the paper in 1996. He did not have to refer to any textbook for preparing himself for the paper. He wishes to be a teacher like Professor Choudhary.
BIT Mesra placements are good for ECE branch. According to the recent placement drive, around 85% of students get placed from the branch each year. Here are the placement highlights of ECE.
Parameters | Statistics |
Average CTC | INR 13 LPA |
Highest CTC | INR 49 LPA |
Major recruiters | Goldman Sachs, Walmart, Infoedage, Microsoft, etc. |
ECE students are recruited as Data Analysts, SDE, and Consultants.
A friend of mine who graduated from BIT Mesra was asked the same question. He does not think that BIT Mesra has gone down drastically.
It has, according to him, neither gone down in quality nor moved ahead particularly, in the pace the country has been moving ahead. BIT Mesra is one of the many industries that has not moved forward significantly.
It would be very difficult for BIT Mesra to compete with institutes that are applying for the “Institutes of Eminence” tag by the Central Government. In the foreseeable future, BIT Mesra will be an above-average institution; chances of it being perceived as a premium institution are slim.
However, my friend does hope that someone takes charge of the institution and pulls it out of the many uncertainties it is facing currently.
