Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited or NPCIL has released notification on NPCIL recruitment through GATE. NPCIL will consider GATE 2020 and 2019 scores for recruitment of Executive Trainees in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Chemical/ Electronics & Communication /Civil Engineering disciplines. NPCIL comes under the Maharatna category.

  • Candidates who have required GATE Cut Off marks will be allowed to participate in selection process.

The recruited candidates will be required to undergo an orientation program, i.e. training for a period of one year. This training will be conducted in any of the following Nuclear Training Centres of NPCIL at:

In order to successfully complete the training program, the candidates have to secure a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. After the successful completion of one year of training, they will be appointed as Scientific Officer/C. The interested candidates should keep in mind that these positions are all over India. Therefore, candidates should be open to working at different locations. The present locations include the following:

NPCIL Eligibility Criteria 2020

Any B. Tech. Graduate who qualifies GATE 2020 can apply for the position of Executive trainee in NPCIL. Candidates willing to take the exam should fulfil the following GATE Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidate should have passed a Bachelor Degree course (4 years after 10+2, or 3 years after Diploma) in any stream.
  • The candidates who have passed a Master’s degree program in any branch namely, Mathematics, Science, Statistics or Computers Applications or equivalent degree, are also eligible to apply for GATE.
  • Candidates who are in their final year of such a degree courses are also eligible to sit for GATE 2020.

Salary Offered

The candidates will be given the following compensation during the training period:

  • Monthly Stipend - INR 35,000
  • One time Book Allowance – INR 10,000
  • Mandatory Lodging (on nominal charge) & Boarding – In NPCIL Hostels.

Following will be the salary after a period of one year of training:

  1. After successful completion of training, appointment will be as Scientific Officer/C (SO/C) in Group 'A' with following details.

How to Apply?

The registration is done in online mode. Eligible applicants may apply through online registration system of NPCIL using GATE 2020 registration number provided on GATE Admit Card

Candidates are required to keep the scanned signature and photograph ready for uploading at the time of online registration. The application form of NPCIL recruitment through GATE 2020 will not be accepted without the photograph and signature.

The application process of NPCIL recruitment through GATE 2020 consists of four steps as explained below.

Step 1: Registration - First, candidates have to register for NPCIL recruitment through GATE 2020. During registration, candidates have to enter details such as GATE 2020 registration number mentioned in GATE admit card, discipline, name, date of birth, category, email and mobile number. Once the registration is complete, candidates will receive an activation email on their registered email address provided by them.

Step 2: Activation Link - Candidates must click on the activation link received in the email to fill NPCIL recruitment form 2020

Step 3: Filling NPCIL recruitment form 2020 - Upon successful activation, applicants will have to login using their login id and password to fill the online application form of NPCIL recruitment through GATE 2020. Candidates have to enter the following details:

  • Educational qualifications
  • Post qualification work experience, if any
  • Personal details
  • Uploading of photograph & signature – The images of the photograph and signature should be of the below given specifications:

After entering all the details, click on save and next, the preview of the application form will pop up on the screen. Applicants should check all the details entered by them in the application form, as no changes will be allowed in the application form after submission.

Application Fee

  • Only male candidates belonging to General/OBC categories are required to pay application fee of INR 500.
  • The fee can be paid through bank charges using State Bank Collect link provided on the website after final submission of the online application.
  • Women, SC/ST/ PwD candidates, dependents of defence personnel killed in action (DODPKIA) are exempted from application fee.

NPCIL Recruitment 2020 Selection Process

Shortlisted applicants will be informed through email and SMS about the availability of the interview call letter. Time and date will be mentioned in the interview call letter. Candidates can login through the applicant’s login window and print the same.

Applicants must carry ‘Interview Call Letter’ to the interview venue, without which they will not be allowed to appear for the interview.

Initial screening is primarily based on the information provided in the online application form. It is, therefore, strongly advised that all the details should be carefully and correctly entered in online application form.

Documents Required for Interview

All the shortlisted applicants have to carry with them the following documents in original at the time of reporting for personal interview:

  • Photo identity proof of PAN Card/Driving License/Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/College ID/Government issued ID to secure entry into Anushaktinagar premises for interview
  • One clear printout of the Interview Call Letter bearing photograph of the candidate
  • One clear printout of the full online application form
  • GATE score card
  • One set containing self attested copies of the certificates in support of educational qualification (both degree certificate and mark sheets), experience, caste, proof for date of birth etc

Training Period Details

Shortlisted candidates after PI will have to undergo one-year orientation training in any of the Nuclear Training Centres of NPCIL located at Tarapur Maharashtra Site, Rawatbhata Rajasthan Site, MAPS Kalpakkam (Tamil Nadu), Kaiga Site (Karnataka) and Kudankulam (Tamil Nadu).

Trainees who successfully complete one-year orientation training will be appointed as Scientific Officer/C and posted at one of the Units/Sites/Offices of NPCIL located at different parts of the country. Increments will be done on the basis of the performance.

The selection process will be as follows:

  • The eligible candidates will be selected through an Online Test on Engineering Disciplines listed above.
  • Candidates who clear the Online Test will be interviewed at NPCIL, HQ, Mumbai.
  • The names of selected candidates through Online Test will be posted on the NPCIL Recruitment Website.
  • Students will be informed through Email or SMS intimation for interview will also be sent to the selected candidates.
  • Call letter for appearing in interview will available on the website for downloading. For outstation candidates who are shortlisted to appear for the interview, two-way second-class sleeper train fare by shortest route or actual fare (whichever is less) will be given.
  • The final selection is only on the basis of performance in the Personal Interview. The personal interview will carry 100 Marks in which an Unreserved (General) candidate has to score minimum 70% marks and reserved category candidates including PWD has to score minimum 60% marks to be qualified in the interview.
  • Final merit list of candidates will be prepared based on number of vacancies and the marks scored in Personal Interview.
  • The appointment of the selected candidates as Executive Trainee will be subject to Medical Fitness.
