JRF/SRF at Banaras Hindu University through GATE Score

BHU will invite applications for the post of JRF (Junior Research Fellow) and SRF (Senior Research Fellow) through GATE Score. Candidates will be selected for Food Tech and Biochemistry department under DBT sponsored project entitled “Process Development for Vitamin A, D and microencapsulated omega-3 Fatty Acids Fortified Milk and its Evaluation on school-going children” sanctioned up to August 2019. The posts are temporary and co-terminus with the project. The last date for submitting the applications will be March 27, 2020 (tentative). GATE is a national level entrance test for admission in M.Tech and Ph.D programmes in India. GATE 2020 Result will be declared on March 16, 2020 at gate.iitd.ac.in


Eligibility for SRF/JRF at BHU 2020

Candidates applying for GATE 2020 must check the GATE Eligibility Criteria to avoid any rejection of candidature. Candidates willing to apply for SRF/JRF post at BHU in Food Tech and Biochemistry department can check the BHU eligibility criteria as mentioned below:

  • Candidates must have M.Sc/M.Tech in Dairy Technology, Food Science and Technology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, etc. or equivalent from a recognized university. They must have obtained at least 55% of marks in aggregate in academic qualification.
  • They must have qualified GATE with a valid score.
  • Candidates must have at least two years of research experience to apply for SRF post. The experience of working with HPLC, GC, GCMSS, LCMS, AAS, Spray Dryer and micro encapsulation process will be preferred.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for JRF post is 28 years while it is 32 years for SRF post. There is a relaxation of 5 years in age for SC/ST/Female/PWD candidates.


JRF/SRF Selection Process 2020

The selection of candidates is based on GATE Score. The shortlisted candidates will be called for the personal interview round. After that, they will be selected for JRF or SRF post on the basis of merit list. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of GATE Score and the performance in PI round.

Pay Scale

The selected candidates for SRF/JRF post will get a salary or stipend and the emoluments vary according to the posts.

Candidates selected for JRF post will get a stipend of INR 25,000/- per month with 20% of HRA (Human Resource Allowance). For SRF post, the stipend is INR 28,000/- per month with 20% of HRA. No travelling/ Dearness allowances will be paid to the candidates for attending the interview.

How to Apply for JRF/SRF 2020

Candidates have to provide their name, permanent or correspondence address, name of father and mother, contact and E-Mail ID details of educational qualification, etc. on a plain paper. They have to submit the self-attested copies of all mark sheets, certificates (from high school to M.Tech degree) and the certificate regarding details of any research, work experience, publications etc.
