IOCL or Indian Oil has invited graduate engineers for recruitment as Engineers or Officers (quality control) through GATE exam. Shortlisting of candidates for further selection process (GD/GT or PI) will be based on scores secured in GATE 2020.
Latest: GATE 2020 Admit Card will be available to download from January 3, 2020. The exam is scheduled on Feb 1, 2, 8, and 9, 2020.

Candidates who are selected as engineers may be posted in any one of the divisions of Indian Oil such as Refineries, Marketing, Pipelines and Business Development, Information Systems, Optimization or In Subsidiary/Joint Venture Companies.

Petroleum engineers will be posted in the Exploration and Production Business Vertical of Business Development Division. They will supervise drilling operations and prepare to drill engineering designs, calculations and drilling programs for the blocks operated by Indian Oil.
Candidates selected as Engineers/Officers will be receiving a monthly remuneration of INR 60000. Also, the selected candidates will get DA and other allowances as per the rules of the Corporation in force, as amended from time to time.

Ques. How will Indian Oil use GATE scores?
Ans. Indian Oil will shortlist the candidates who have applied for the given post, using GATE score. Indian Oil will get scores from the Office of Chairman, GATE 2020. However, the scores of only GATE qualified candidates will be given to the Indian Oil. Therefore, candidates, not qualifying through GATE, shall not be shortlisted for GD/GT and PI. Candidates, who have appeared in GATE 2020 in the required disciplines and also applied in Indian Oil, would be considered for further selection process in Indian Oil.
Ques. Does one have to pay separate application fees to Indian Oil?
Ans. NO, there is no separate application fee to be given to Indian Oil. A candidate is required to pay the required fees for GATE only. Details concerning GATE fees are given on the GATE website.
Ques. After submission of the online application, can it be viewed again?
Ans. YES, it can be viewed again, but no change can be made to the details once filled in.
Ques. Where the University does not give % and only gives letter grades/CGPA/OGPA, how to fill in the % of marks in the online application?
Ans. The grade or CGPA should be converted into % as per conversion formula applied by the Institute/University for awarding class or division. In case, such a formula is not available, Indian Oil will have full authority to convert that into % by applying its own procedure, as it may consider appropriate.
Ques. Who is entitled to relaxation/concessions admissible to People with Disabilities candidates?
Ans. Persons with Disability of 40% or more will get the benefits admissible to PWD candidates. Also, it is mandatory that such a candidate holds a valid disability certificate issued by the medical board constituted for such purpose. Candidates, whose degree of disability is less than 40%, are not entitled to any concession admissible to PWD candidates.
Ques. Where should a candidate mail his/her complete application form with affixed photograph?
Ans. There is no need to mail the completed application after affixing photograph. This application is to be brought at the time of GD/GT and PI.
Ques. Is there any way to apply offline?
Ans. NO, Indian Oil shall not entertain any offline applications.
Ques. How can one communicate with Indian Oil, in the case of any specific query?

Ques. GATE conducts its exams in various disciplines. Will scores from all the papers be considered by Indian Oil?
Ans. NO, Indian Oil will be considering GATE 2020 scores in given disciplines only. Please refer the details through Indian Oil website.
Ques. Can a student appear in GATE in Electronics and Communication discipline for recruitment in Indian Oil?
Ans. NO, a candidate with a degree in Electronics and Instrumentation discipline shall be considered for recruitment in Indian Oil only in the Instrumentation discipline. The discipline of engineering in which the candidate is graduating or has already graduated requires being the same for appearing GATE 2020 examination also. Candidates with a mismatch in disciplines will altogether be rejected.
Ques. Is a post graduate with Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) eligible for applying for the position of Officers/Engineers?
Ans. The qualification requirement for the position of Officers/Engineers is, 4 year full time BE/B.Tech from a recognized Indian University/Institute. Candidate with MCA does not meet the eligibility requirement for Graduate Engineers.
Ques. Is a candidate required to appear again in GATE this year, even if he/she had already appeared in last year’s GATE?
Ans. YES, GATE 2020 score is the only valid score to be considered for recruitment in Indian
