HPCL Recruitment through GATE 2020: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited or HPCL has released the official notification for inviting applications for Engineers. Selection of candidates is done through GATE score and Interview round. The branches eligible for engineering under GATE are Civil, Mechanical and Chemical engineering. 

  • GATE 2020 Result will be announced on March 16, 2020 on official website of GOAPS.

  • Shortlisted candidates on the basis of their performance in GATE are called for Interview round.

GATE or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is a national level entrance exam organized by IITs on a rotational basis. GATE 2020 was held on February 2, 3, 9 & 10, 2020 in CBT mode. HPCL Recruitment Shortlisting and Placement

  • Candidates appearing in a GATE paper which is different from their Qualifying Engineering discipline will not be considered for further selection procedure.
  • The GATE marks for the year 2020 only will be considered for this recruitment process.
  • A candidate can apply against one discipline only. Candidates applying for more than one discipline will not be allowed to sit for both roles.
  • On the basis of valid GATE 2020 marks, qualified candidates will be called for further selection process in a predetermined ratio in the order of the category-wise discipline- wise merit list.
  • The selection process would include: Group Task/Group Discussion and/or Personal Interview.
  • Merit List of successful candidates will be drawn basis 85% weightage to GATE 2020 marks and 15% to Group Discussion/Task and/or Personal Interview
  • Selected candidates shall have all-India transfer liability. Posting/ Assignment can be in any SBU/Division/Department of the Corporation at any place in the country/otherwise.
  • These positions generally involve working in shift duties including night shifts. Selected candidates may also be posted in any of the subsidiaries/Joint Ventures or any department of Government of India.

Applicants who wish to apply for HPCL recruitment through GATE 2020 are required to fulfil the complete eligibility prescribed by the authority. The eligibility requirement as per candidate’s category with important details are as follows:

HPCL Recruitment: Registration Process

The application form will be available via online mode only. Steps to register online is:

  • Visit the official website of HPCL
  • Click on “Apply Online”
  • Add relevant details such as Name, Date of Birth, Address, GATE 2020 Registration No etc.

Step 3: Complete and Submit the application form to receive 12 digit application no.

Step 4: Application Fee payment (SC/ ST/ PwD candidates exempted). Total amount to be paid inclusive of applicable taxes and bank charges

Note(s):

  • Make sure that bank stamps all three parts of the challan

HPCL Recruitment: General Instructions

  1. No changes in the details given in the online form will be entertained.
  2. No hard copy of application or any other documents are required to send to HPCL by candidates. 
  3. Interview Call Letter will not be sent to candidates in hard copy.  The same must be downloaded and various intimations, schedules/dates can be accessed thorough HPCL website.
  4. Please note that mere issue of interview call letter doesn’t imply final selection.
  5. Internal candidates will have to resign and re-join the services on probation like fresh candidates.
  6. Cases regarding the transfer of leaves, PF, Gratuity etc. would be treated on par with candidates joining from other PSUs.

Ques. What is the minimum educational qualification for advertised position?

Ans. Candidates must pass have full time bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology in the advertised disciplines (full time regular courses only) from recognized Indian Universities/ Institutes.

Ques. I have done AMIE, am I eligible to apply for the notified post?

Ans. Eligibility conditions state that only full time regular course/s from AICTE approved / UGC recognized University/Deemed University and the courses offered by Autonomous Institutions equivalent to the relevant courses approved / recognized by Association of Indian Universities are eligible. Since AMIE fails to meet such requirement, the candidates cannot be considered as eligible.

Ques. I have completed my B.E. / B.Tech Engineering degree after diploma in engineering. How should I calculate my aggregate marks?

Ans. In qualifying graduate (B.E. / B. Tech.) Degree, the candidate must have minimum 60% marks (For SC, ST & PWD - minimum 50%) in aggregate of all semesters.

Ques. I have a B.E. / B. Tech degree in a branch which has not been specified in the detailed advertisement. However, course curriculum is similar to Engg. Disciplines notified. Can I apply with my Engineering Discipline?

Ans. No. Despite the appearance in GATE 2020 in the notified discipline, the candidates from discipline other than specified disciplines will not be eligible to apply.

Ques. How will Hindustan Petroleum use GATE score?

Ans. HPCL will make a shortlist of the applicants on the basis of score in GATE 2020. The next stage in selection process involves GD/GT and/or personal interview. HPCL will HPCL will be getting the GATE-2020 scores directly from GATE authorities. For further selection process in HPCL, only the candidates, who will appear in GATE-2020 in the relevant disciplines with respective engineering degree and have registered themselves with HPCL, and also eligible in all respects would be considered.

Ques. GATE conducts its examination in so many papers. Will scores from all the papers be considered by HPCL?

Ans. Recently advertised GATE-2020 score in engineering disciplines will be considered by HPCL. Please refer to the detailed advertisement in HPCL website www.hindustanpetroleum.com.

Ques. I appeared in GATE last year. Do I need to write GATE in this year again?

Ans. Yes. For recruitment purpose of HPCL, only GATE-2020 score will be considered.

Ques. Is there any upper age limit for appearing in GATE?

Ans. The upper age limit as on 30th June 2017 for the General category candidates is 25 years. It means their date of birth should on or after June 30, 1992.  As per the Presidential Directives, applicable age relaxation will be allowed to candidates belonging to OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PWD/Ex-servicemen/Domicile of J&K category.

Ques. Is there any minimum % of marks requirement for appearing in GATE?

Ans. A minimum score of 60% in qualifying degree examinations is required for General and OBC-NC category and an aggregate minimum score of 50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Ques. I am in the final year of my Engineering and passing out in the year 2020. Am I eligible to apply?

Ans. Candidates currently in final year of their engineering can also apply. However, if selected, they must be in a position to submit their final mark sheet and degree certificate by 31st August, 2020. Further at the time of applying Candidates (belonging to General and OBC-NC category) should have secured minimum 60% aggregate marks up to last semester examinations, which is relaxed to 50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Ques. Is there any physical fitness criteria for appearing in GATE?

Ans. As per Hindustan Petroleum’s pre-employment medical standards, the candidates must be medically fit. Please note that Defective Colour Vision is a medical disqualification for employment with HPCL.

Ques. If I want to change my GATE examination venue or want to correct a mistake in GATE form or if I face difficulty in downloading my GATE admit card with registration number, whom should I get in touch with?

Ans. For any rectification, you are required to contact GATE authorities as HPCL has no control on conducting GATE examination. The procedure for such rectification is explained in GATE bulletin. The interaction of HPCL with GATE is limited to obtaining the scores of the candidates appearing in the specified disciplines.

Ques. Can I apply to HPCL before I download GATE Admit card?

Ans. Since applying to HPCL requires GATE registration number, you cannot do so until you have GATE Admit card which has GATE registration Number.

Ques. I am working with Central / State Govt / PSU, Do I need to apply through proper channel, If yes Where do I send the hard copy of my online application form?

Ans. The candidates may send the physical copy of their online application form to, Deputy General Manager – Manpower Planning & Talent Sourcing, HPCL, Petroleum House, 17, Jamshedji Tata Road, Churchgate, Mumbai 400020 in case of applying through proper channel is pre-requisite for obtaining NOC at the time of Interview by current employer of the candidate.

Ques. If I am not able to take print out of my application after filling the online application, can I take it at a later stage? Will I be able to view my application after submitting the same online? Can I make changes in the online application?

Ans. Yes. Using your unique application ID number and GATE registration number, youcan view or print your application anytime. Once submitted, however, no changes in the application will be allowed. Hence, it is advised to the candidates to read all the instructions carefully before filling the application and confirm your details before final submission.

Ques. How do I fill in the % of marks in the online application, as our University gives only letter CGPA ?

Ans. In a case where the university does not give %age for awarding Class/Division, the letter grade/CGPA/OGPA should be converted into %age as per the conversion formula applied by the Institute/University for awarding Class / Division. The candidate is responsible for arranging the percentage conversion formula/ equivalent certificate from the institute.

Ques. I belong to the reserved category. Am I required to attach the Certificate at the time of applying online?

Ans. No. At the time of applying online, no Caste/Category certificate is required to be attached. However, the requisite certificates are compulsorily required at the time of interview. Please note that onus of providing correct information w.r.t. caste/community rests entirely with the candidates, In case of information/documents furnished turn out to be false or incorrect, the candidature will be cancelled.

Ques. While filling online application I have wrongly entered my category/ date of birth etc. How do I rectify it?

Ans. After submission of online application form, there is no provision of manual intervention for editing any details in the application forms under any circumstances.

Ques. While uploading a photograph I have by mistake uploaded my signature/pan card etc. how do I change it?

Ans. Please note that application process for all the positions is through online application mode only. There is no provision for manual intervention for changing the photograph uploaded during online application, after submission. You must upload the same photograph which was uploaded at the time of GATE 2020 registration. After submission of online application form, there is no provision of manual intervention for editing any details in the application forms under any circumstances. The candidates are advised to be careful while uploading scanned images. Any mistake in uploading will amount to rejection of application.

Ques. After payment of application through challan, what is to be done with HPCL copy of the challan?

Ans. Preserve HPCL & Candidate payment receipt/Challan copies for future reference.

Ques. I am a Mechanical engineer and belong to PWD category (Low Vision). I am not able to complete my online form.

Ans. Online application module has got inbuilt validation with respect to eligibility criteria. As per the List of posts identified suitable for persons with disabilities (PWD) by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Notification, candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria will not be able to submit the online application.

Ques. How do I make payment of application after applying online?

Ans. The candidates can make payment towards application fee either by debit/credit card or through challan at any SBI branch. Challan payment can be made after 2 working days from date of completion of online application.

Ques. What is the last date for payment of application fees??

Ans. Online Payment as well as payment through challan will be accepted till February10, 2020 up to bank closing hours.

Health

For persons with disabilities (PwD) with a disability of 40% or more, 3% o the vacancies are reserved. Some posts of Officer Trainee – Engineering Discipline are fit for Hearing Handicapped candidates. Such appointment in these vacancies will first consider various factors such as nature of duties & responsibilities of the job, location, hazard, strain & interference of disability with work performance and health. The candidate will be finally appointed based on medical fitness with respect to job profile of the identified posts.

Remuneration

Initially, the selected candidates will have to undergo a six month long training. A consolidated stipend of Rs. 50,000/- per month is earned by Officer Trainees during the training period. After successful completion of training, they will be absorbed at the entry level in the Management Cadre in ‘A’ grade in the Salary Scale of Rs. 24,900 - 50,500. Such absorption will be subject to fulfilling the required performance related/ other criterion. They’ll be on further probation period of 6 months.

After completion of probation period, they will be confirmation. However, it will subject to satisfactory performance during Probation period, qualifying in Technical Competenc.
