GATE Agriculture Engineering

Agriculture Engineering is a rapidly growing branch in India. It includes many science disciplines and technology practices to the efficient production of food, concerning power supplies, efficiency of machinery, use of structures & facilities and pollution & environmental issues. Agricultural Engineering is one of the famous branch for GATE aspirants.

The exam will be scheduled from February 01, 02, 08 and 09, 2020. Candidates who have successfully registered themselves for GATE 2020, can download admit card from gate.iitm.ac.in by January 3, 2020.

Agriculture Engineering has solved the common problem of the farmers which is production of seeds. It covers all the methodology of conserving soil and water & candidates learn to promote natural crops & fish and dairy management. Candidates who are looking their career in government sector then GATE is the right choice. Many state & national level recruitment process is conducted on the basis of GATE scores.

GATE Agriculture Engineering: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in applying for GATE Agriculture Engineering, are advised to check the eligibility criteria before they go ahead and fill the application form. The minimum academic qualification to apply for GATE 2020 Agriculture Engineering is indicated below:

There is no stipulated age limit criteria defined for GATE applicants. Candidates with a backlog in their qualifying exam have to submit a copy of the final year mark sheets or a declaration from their Principal along with the seal and signature.

GATE applicants will require the following certificates for each category for GATE exam-

  • SC/ ST category certificate
  • OBC certificate is not required for GATE aspirants. (only required while taking admission using GATE 2018 score)
  • PWD Certificate (at least 40% disability as per government rules)

Note: Certificate from Principle (for the eligibility certificate only for final year or backlog candidates)

GATE Agriculture Engineering: Exam Pattern

There will be 2 types of questions Objective type and Numerical Type (NAT). In NAT question, there will be no choices. Answer to be entered manually with the help of Virtual Keyboard.

Sections in paper 3, i.e. General Aptitude, Mathematics and Subject Specific

Marking Scheme

Candidates are marked separately for MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) and NAT (Numerical Answer Type). For every correct answer in MCQ, candidates are awarded 1 mark or 2 mark depending on the weightage of the question. For every incorrect MCQ, candidate loses 0.33 or 0.66 mark for 1 marker or 2 marker respectively. For Numerical Answer Type, every correct answer is awarded 1 mark or 2 marks as per the marks allotted to the question. There is no negative marking for such questions.

  • General Aptitude: 5 questions carry 1 mark each. The rest 5 questions carry 2 marks each.
  • Mathematics: 5 questions carry 1 mark each. The rest 5 questions carry 2 marks each.
  • Agriculture Engineering: 20 questions carry 1 mark each. 25 questions carry 2 marks each. Approximately equal weightage is given to the questions from 3 sections- Farm Machinery, Post-Harvest, Soil & Water and Irrigation & Drainage.

GATE Result for Agriculture Engineering

GATE Result 2020 is expected to be declared by March 16, 2020 at its official website. Candidates can check GATE result by using Registration No. or Email ID. Those candidates who will qualify GATE 2020 can download their GATE Scorecard from gate.iitr.ernet.in.

How to Download GATE 2020 Score Card

GATE score card is valid only for the 3 years. Candidates can download GATE score card for Agriculture Engineering from the official website in between March 20, 2020 – May 31, 2019. The steps followed to download the GATE Score Card are:

  • Visit the official website of GATE 2020 at www.gate.iitr.ernet.in
  • Click on GATE Result tab
  • Enter Registration Number and Date of Birth
  • Verify the details before final Submit
  • Click on Submit
  • GATE 2020 Score Card will be displayed on the screen. Download it for future correspondence
