Graduate Aptitude Test, GATE is Nation Level Exam conducted every year. Candidates who qualify the cutoff scores are eligible to get admission in M.Tech programs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) disciplines offered by IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and STIs.
The validity of GATE score is 3 years. Top PSUs (Public Sector Units) also accept GATE score for their recruitment process. GATE 2021 Registration dates are expected to start from September 2021. Before applying for the exam, all the candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria.
GATE 2021 will be held in online mode and the duration of the exam will be 3 hours. Biomedical Engineering is a new addition to the core subjects or papers of GATE. You can only select 1 paper out of 25 papers/subjects offered by GATE 2021. Check GATE Exam Pattern

Candidates preparing for GATE 2021 should know about the eligibility criteria for the same. The eligibility criteria will help all the candidates to know about their suitability before filling the online application form. You have to keep one thing in mind that if you are not fulfilling the mentioned eligibility criteria then there are chances of disqualification from the exam during any subsequent stage.

Age Criteria- No Age Limit in GATE, candidates from any age group can apply for the exam.
Nationality- The applicant must be an Indian citizen. Foreign candidates can also apply for the exam but they need to fulfill the required eligibility criteria.

GATE 2021 Application Form are expected to be available from September 2021. GATE Registration is an online process. Candidates are supposed to apply and pay the application fees online. The official website for GATE 2021 is – gate.iitd.ac.in.
You can access the application form through the GATE Online Application Processing System. To fill the form online, all the candidates are supposed to follow the steps as given below:
Registration- Candidates have to register themselves through GOAPs by entering their name, email id, and mobile number after which their enrollment id will be generated. You have to keep the enrollment Id and password safe with you for future references.
Filling of Application Form- After registration, the application form will be available. You have to fill the form and provide the mandatory details like personal information, academic, and qualification details.
Uploading Images- Once the candidate has filled the application form, they have to upload the scanned copy of the photograph, signature and category certificate (if applicable) as per the specifications of exam authority.

GATE Admit Card download will from the 1st week of January 2021 (tentative). After the release of GATE Admit Card you can download it by following the simple steps:

Candidates should know about GATE qualifying Cut Off and GATE Admission Cut Off:
GATE Qualifying Cut Off: The minimum marks that candidate should score to qualify for the exam. This cut off will be different for different subjects. Also, it will vary based on the category of the candidates. GATE qualifying cut off will be released by the conducting body.
GATE Admission Cut Off: The minimum number of marks required to get admission in the college. This cut off is released by individual institutes and depends on the number of seats, number of applicants, category of applicants, etc.

The actual marks will be used to calculate the normalized score which will be used for the further evaluation process and the preparation of merit list.
The GATE score will be calculated based on the mentioned formula:
GATE SCORE = sq +(st- sq ) * (M-Mq)/(Mt-Mq)
where,
M =marks acquired by the candidates( In case of single session papers, the actual marks will be considered while in case of multi-session papers, the normalized marks will be considered.
Mq = cut-off marks for the general category candidates
Mt = Average of the top 10% of the candidates who appeared for the examination in that particular paper.
Sq = 350 which is the score assigned to Mq
St = 900 which is the score assigned to Mt
M will be either 25 or the sum of the average or standard deviation of the marks obtained by the students, whichever is higher.
GATE Counselling process is carried out by COAP and CCMT every year. After the results have been declared, the students will have to apply for counselling. To apply for counselling, the students will have to pay a registration fee.

Ques: Who decides the GATE cut-off?
Ans: Every year, the GATE examination is conducted by one of the seven IITs or IISc Bangalore. So, the institute, who is in charge of conducting the examination, will set the cut-off. The cut-off may vary from each to year. It mainly depends on the difficulty level of the question paper.
Ques: Is the GATE cut-off the same for all institutes?
Ans: The GATE cut-off may vary according to the institute. Some institutes have relatively higher cut-off than other institutes. The cut-off score of the institute mostly depends on the total number of candidates appearing for the examination in that particular year and the availability of seats. The IITs have higher cut-offs than other institutes.
Ques: Can I change my GATE examination city?
Ans: Yes, the candidates will be given a chance to change their city of examination. However, this can only be possible after the last date of submission of application forms. The candidates will be notified about this on the GOAPS website. They can log in to their portal and change the city of examination.
Ques: Will the students be provided with a rough sheet?
Ans: Yes, the candidates will be provided with a scribble pad for rough work and calculations. After the examination is over, the students will have to hand over the sheets to the examiner before leaving the examination hall. The students are advised to write their roll numbers and their names on the rough sheets before submitting them to the examiner.
Ques: Can I leave the examination hall during the examination?
Ans: No, the students will not be allowed to leave their seat during the examination. They can only leave the hall after the completion of the examination. So, the students are advised to visit the washroom prior to the commencement of the examination. If the student does not feel well, he/she must report to the invigilator immediately.
Ques: What are the things which I can carry to the examination hall?
Ans: The only things that are allowed inside the examination all are a pen, the hall ticket, and the photo ID. No other item will be permitted to the examination hall. Students will not be allowed inside the hall if they are carrying any kind of electronic gadgets like mobile phones, watch or calculator.
Ques: Will the examination center take responsibility for my personal items while I give my examination?
Ans: No, there will not be any separate arrangements for the safe-keeping of a candidate’s personal belongings. They will have to keep their personal items outside the examination hall at their own risk. In case the items are misplaced, the examination center will not be held responsible.
Ques: How do I download my admit cards?
Ans: The candidates can download their admit cards from the official website of GOAPS after the admit cards have been released by the authorizing institute. The admit cards will not be individually mailed to the candidates. On the day of the examination, the students must carry a print out of their admit card along with them.
Ques: Is a soft copy of the admit card allowed?
Ans: No, a candidate carrying a soft copy of their admit card in their mobiles or pen drive will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. In order to sit for the examination, it is mandatory for the candidates to present a hard copy of the admit card to the invigilators. Otherwise, they won’t be able to give the examination.
Ques: Is the GATE application fee refundable?
Ans: The GATE application cannot be claimed back. Once you have submitted your application form, you will not get any refund no matter what your reason is. However, if excess money has been drawn from your account due to any technical reasons, then the money will be automatically transferred to your bank account.
