How is the GATE score calculated?

The actual marks will be used to calculate the normalized score which will be used for the further evaluation process and the preparation of merit list.

The GATE score will be calculated based on the mentioned formula:

GATE SCORE = sq +(st- sq ) * (M-Mq)/(Mt-Mq)

where,

M =marks acquired by the candidates( In case of single session papers, the actual marks will be considered while in case of multi-session papers, the normalized marks will be considered.

Mq = cut-off marks for the general category candidates

Mt = Average of the top 10% of the candidates who appeared for the examination in that particular paper.

Sq = 350 which is the score assigned to Mq

St = 900 which is the score assigned to Mt

M will be either 25 or the sum of the average or standard deviation of the marks obtained by the students, whichever is higher.
