GATE Registration 2020 has been started from August 31, 2019 onwards. Candidates can fill the online application form till September 24, 2019. Apart from entering your personal and academic details in the form, another important step is to scan and upload your photograph and signature in the specified format. This must be done electronically at the time of filling up an online form at GOAPS.

• For this session, IIT Delhi has scheduled GATE 2020 for February 1, 2, 8 and 9, 2020.
• The national level examination will be conducted in CBT mode across 195 exam centers in India and 6 cities abroad.
• Registrants can download their GATE Admit Card from January 3, 2019.

Facility to change the uploaded image after the closure of the application submission window will be made available to candidates. GATE 2020 Photo Specifications

Candidates applying for the national level exam must take care of GATE Photo details, photo size, etc. while attaching their photograph with GATE Application Form. Listed below are important points related to the same:

1. Upload high-quality photograph. The photograph will appear on your GATE scorecard.
2. Colored photo must be taken after August 1, 2019 by a professional photographer. Photographs taken from a mobile phone or other self-composed portraits may result in rejection of the application.
3. Dimensions: A passport size photograph with 3.5 cm width and 4.5 cm height of the face.
4. Format: JPEG only
5. Standard Print size: 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm (width X height)
6. Maximum size: 480 * 640 pixels (0.3 Mega pixel) | Minimum size: 240 * 320 pixels.
7. Background of Photo: White or a light color
8. The face should occupy at least 35% area of the photo with a full-face view looking into the camera directly.
9. Forehead, eyes, nose and chin should be clearly visible. Main features of the face should not be covered by hair of the head, any cloth or any shadow.
10. Photo should be without any cap/ hat.
11. For candidates who wear spectacles, photograph with glare on the glasses will not be accepted. If glare cannot be avoided, don’t wear spectacles in the photo shoot.
12. Avoid spectacles with dark and tinted glasses.
13. Poor quality photograph will result in rejection of GATE application form without refund of fee.

GATE 2020 Signature Specifications

Along with the photograph, candidates are also required to attach scanned image of signature. The essential specifications for signature as per GATE 2020  requirements are listed below:

1. Take an A4 white paper.
2. Draw a rectangular box with the following dimensions:

• Breadth = 2 cm
• Width = 7 cm

3. Sign with black or dark blue ink pen within the box. The height or width of the signature should be atleast 80% of the respective height or width of the rectangular box.
4. Signature by any other person or in any other colour will be rejected.
5. Signature in all CAPITAL LETTERS will NOT be accepted.
6. Format: JPEG only
7. Maximum Size: 160 X 560 pixels | Minimum Size: 80 X 280 pixels
8. The size of the signature should be between 2KB to 150KB.
9. Get the digital image of your signature along with the box through a professional scanner.
10. Crop the image to the border of the rectangular box and upload it.
11. If the applicant’s signature, on the exam day, does not match the signature on GATE Admit Card, the applicant will be disqualified.

Important Instructions for GATE 2020 Photograph & Signature

• The signature on the photograph must be done in presence of the invigilator.
• Candidates must bring additional copies of passport size photographs, as used during GATE Registration.
• The Photograph should not have cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed if being used regularly.
• Applications without clear photographs are liable to be rejected.
• For Signature, upload your signature in the appropriate box given in the form in running handwriting.
• Writing full name in the box in capital letters will NOT be accepted as the signature. Doing so can lead to cancellation of the application form. 

How to Edit Images for GATE?

Editing scanned images may degrade the quality of the images. As uploading of the low quality of images is not acceptable in registration. There are a few ways by which you can edit the images as per the required specifications of GATE 2020.

How to Fill GATE 2020 Application Form?

The registration window will close on October 1, 2020. Applications received after the due date will not be accepted. Visit the official website of GOAPS i.e. appsgate.iitm.ac.in to fill GATE Application Form.

GATE Form Correction

IIT Delhi will issue the notification for making corrections in GATE 2020 Application Form in case of any overall discrepancy in the information. The option to modify details is applicable to certain fields only.

For GATE Form Correction, you need to send a request email form registered email id to respective zonal GATE offices indicated on the form. The mail must mention the Enrollment id of candidate and nature of correction in the form besides containing scanned attachment of document required as proof for making the changes.
