GATE 2020 Engineering Sciences (XE) Answer Key, Question Paper & Analysis

GATE Answer Keys 2020 (XE) will be published at GOAPS portal by IIT Delhi. Candidates can visit the official website in order to download the question paper and answer key.

  • This year, the engineering exam is scheduled for February 2 in a single session. The exam will be conducted in CBT across 199 cities across India.
  • The coordinating body will release GATE 2020 Result by March 16 at gate.iitm.ac.in in the form of scores. 
  • For this year, the cut off for GATE is expected to range in between 30 – 33 marks.

How to Download GATE 2020 XE Answer Key?

  1. Visit the official website of GATE i.e. gate.iitm.ac.in
  2. Enter the required credentials i.e. Enrollment ID, Registration Number and Date of Birth
  3. GATE XE Answer key will be displayed on your screen.
  4. Check and download it for future reference.

How to challenge GATE Answer Key?

  1. Log into GATE Online Application Processing System.
  2. Go through the guidelines given carefully.
  3. Agree by checking on the declaration. 
  4. Click on the “Contest Answer Key" tab to be able to pay and mail objections related to the answer.
  5. INR 500 has to be paid via online portal provided for every question. NRI candidates of GATE will have to pay the US $10 per question being challenged.
  6. It is important to use the correct question number given in the question paper to challenge.
  7. Attach a justified proof for challenging the answer key.

GATE XE Paper Analysis

The estimated detailed paper analysis of GATE Exam for engineering science is elaborated in this section. The analysis would help candidates appearing for this exam to have a better understanding of the exam pattern as well as difficulty level.

  1. Overall Difficulty Level

  • The Section A that is Engineering Mathematics was of moderate to difficulty level. 
  • Few questions were asked from General Aptitude which was common to all GATE question papers including engineering science (XE). The questions related to this subject was trickier.
  • Section B of the question paper has 7 topics from which candidates have to choose two of them. The questions from this section are expected to range from moderate to difficult.

  • The paper had theoretical as well as numerical answer type questions overall.
  • Some direct one-liner questions were also asked.
  1. Decider

  • Engineering Mathematics is a compulsory section that carries 15% of the total weightage.
  • The questions based main subject, that is, engineering science exam had 70% of the total weightage in GATE 2019 (XE) question paper.
  • The remaining part of GATE (XE) question paper would include General Aptitude questions which had 15% of the total weightage

GATE 2020 XE Expected Cut off

Cut off marks are the minimum qualifying marks that a candidate needs in order to be able to attend the counselling and later get admissions to desired course and college. GATE 2020 Engineering Science cut off marks would vary from candidate’s category to category. GATE Cut off 2020 for all the listed categories is as follows:
