GATE 2020 Electronics and Communication (EC) Answer Key, Question Paper & Analysis

GATE Answer Keys 2020 (EC): IIT Delhi will release GATE EC answer keys. Candidates can visit the official website (gate.iitm.ac.in) in order to download the answer key and question paper. GATE 2020 for Electronics and Communication Engineering is scheduled for February 9 (tentative). 

  • As per the schedule, GATE 2020 Results will be announced on March 16 at the official portal of GOAPS.
  • The result will be declared in the form of a scorecard. Students can download their scorecard from the official website. 
  • Applicants must score 24-26 marks to qualify the exam. Check GATE Cut off
  • Qualified candidates will be eligible for the GATE Counselling in May 2020.

  3. Select your paper code i.e. EC.
  4. Now, check the question paper with answers.

GATE Previous Year EC Paper Analysis

Overall, the exam was considered to be of a moderate level. The questions were lengthy and candidates needed to avoid little mistakes to ace the exam. The level of difficulty was much similar to last years’ paper. Take a look at the section-wise analysis of GATE EC paper: -

General Aptitude Section

General Aptitude Section was a scoring section of the exam for the candidate. Questions of verbal ability were less time taking. The candidate who had a good level of proficiency were able to complete at least 60% of the section in very little time. One can call this section of easy to moderate level of difficulty.

Engineering Mathematics

Engineering Mathematics section was also a very well-crafted one. The questions were mostly based on simple concepts; however, they were very lengthy and time-consuming in nature. Engineering Mathematics section carried 15% weightage in the exam and can be called of moderate difficulty level, mainly due to its time-consuming nature.

Technical Section

Technical Section has always been the most important section of GATE, and one should definitely not expect it to be easy. The technical section of GATE 2020 EC exam is moderate and one definitely needed deep knowledge along with heavy practice to crack this one. A score of around 40-45 marks is definitely achievable in this section. The difficulty level of this section seemed higher than last years’ paper, and the time-consuming nature of questions also played a part in this. Take a look at the classification of topics: -

  • Easy: - Control System, Analog Circuits, Digital Circuits, Microprocessors
  • Moderate: - Electronic Devices, EMFT
  • Difficult: - Signals and Systems

GATE 2020 Expected Cut off

GATE Cutoff for EC largely remains similar over the years. For General Category candidate, a score of 26 or more would easily make them qualify the GATE EC exam. For the year 2020, it is expected that the cut off will fall between 22 to 26 marks. However, you can take a look at the cutoffs of the past few years, to understand the scenario even better: -

Candidates must also know the Score vs Rank Comparison of GATE EC. Generally, normalized marks/score of 75 would land you in the top 20 candidates.
