NEET 2021 is scheduled to be held on September 12, 2021. NTA has recently announced the dates for all the important events of NEET 2021 along with changes introduced in NEET Application Form and Exam Pattern. NEET 2021 will serve as the sole exam in the country for admissions to various institutes for medical study ranging from the likes of AIIMS and JIPMER to the thousands of other seats for MBBS, BDS, and other courses. CBSE has reduced 30% syllabus from Class IX to XII and to rationalize that NTA has provided the option of internal choice in the NEET Question Paper. Though no changes has been introduced in NEET 2021 Syllabus. NEET 2021 will be conducted in 13 languages including Hindi, English, and 11 regional languages all over India. The updated NEET exam pattern and other changes introduced by NTA are provided in the article below.

As per the new exam pattner the No. of questions in each section are:

  • Physics: Section A – 35, Section B – 15
  • Chemistry: Section A – 35, Section B – 15
  • Zoology: Section A – 35, Section B – 15
  • Botany: Section A – 35, Section B – 15

Changes Introduced in NEET Application Process 2021

From this year, NEET application form has been divided into 2 Phases:

  • Phase 1: Application to be Submitted to appear for the exam. 
  • Phase 2: Application to be Submitted before downloading the result. 

How to Fill NEET Application Form Phase – 1?

  • Visit the official website for NTA NEET 2021 and click on the 'Fill NEET Application Form' button.
  • Register for an online entry by filling in basic details like Name, Category, Nationality, ID Proof Number, etc. Once the process is completed, note down the generated User ID and Password. 
  • Login successfully to fill NEET application form 2021 by logging in using registration number and password.
  • Login to your profile to fill up the Application Form for NEET 2021 using your generated credentials.
  • Now, fill up the rest set of details that are asked for, such as, choice of exam city, residing address, qualification, and other similar stuff.
  • As per the needs and specifications, go on to submit your scanned copies of photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, etc. 
  • This will bring the applicants to the step of Application Fee Payment and the respective amount as the Fee needs to be paid according to the category of every individual applicant.
  • After successful payment, take a printed copy of the confirmation page for future reference.

How to Fill NEET Application Form Phase – 2?

  • Visit the official website and enter your Personal Details as asked in the form. 
  • Provide the Educational Details for 10th class like marks, percentage etc. 
  • Provide the Educational Details for 12th
  • Parents Income Details like Mother's, Father’s, or Guardian’s occupational and income details need to be filled. 
  • Uploading Documents as per the prescribed format

Major Changes for NEET in Previous Years

NEET has experienced a few major striking changes in its pattern and conducting nature with the focus being on more accuracy of identification of applicants to ensure 100% transparency in its examining procedure. Applicants now have to upload Class X certificates, left-hand thumb impressions and also provide their roll numbers for Class XII Board Exams along with the standard signature and scanned photograph - both in passport and postcard sizes

  • One Exam for all Medical Aspirants: The merger of AIIMS and JIPMER will only see all of 1207 AIIMS MBBS and 200 JIPMER MBBS seats in the respective institutes to be contested for, in a single analysis of NEET-UG performance of candidates. 
  • UT applicants need to self-declare their contesting consideration: With the new formation of Union Territories of India, the likes of Kashmir and Ladakh have thought of pulling off from the 15% allocation of the All India Quota scheme. Therefore, aspirants from these UTs need to fill in the form for self-declaration for seat allotment under AIQ.
  • Application Fee Hike: The fee for application has been hiked to Rs.1500 for general candidates with respect to Rs.1400 from last year and applicants can now even upload live photographs while they fill out their form. The amount respects to Rs.1400 for General-EWS applicants and Rs.800 for reserved category applicant.
  • More Exam Centres: This year, the exam of NEET will be conducted across the nation in exactly 155 cities in India with the inclusion of the union territory of Ladakh as the latest entry.
  • Upper Age Limit Relaxation: For NEET, the upper age limit has been removed, while the lower age limit is capped at 17 years as on 31st December 2021. There is no upper age limit criteria
