J&k NEET Counselling 2021 will be conducted by Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE). The dates for counselling has not been announced yet but candidates can expect the process to begin in the month of November 2020. Check NEET 2020 Counselling

The counselling will be conducted mostly in two rounds. Students applying for MBBS/BDS programs in J&K must have cleared NEET 2020. Candidates belonging to Jammu and Kashmir are not eligible for 15% AIQ seats and therefore, they can avail 100% seats in the medical colleges of Jammy and Kashmir.

Candidates can go through the list of important documents which they require for granting admission to J&K MBBS.

J&K Seat Allotment through NEET 2020

Allotment of seats in MBBS is done strictly based on the merit of the eligible applicants that are determined by the rank obtained in NEET 2020. Applicants are called for the counseling according to the rank specified in the NEET Merit List. Consequently, all the eligible applicants above the respective cutoff are allotted seats in various medical and dental institutes of Jammu and Kashmir.

The applicant needs to join the allotted institute within the specified time period. Failure to join in time, the institute can disqualify the applicant. The second round of counseling will be conducted only if there are vacant seats available after the first round of counseling.

According to the recent notification, there has been an increase in MBBS seats in Jammu Kashmir for the session 2020 due to opening up of new medical colleges. Therefore the total seats in Government Medical Colleges are 800. 

The 4 newly established medical colleges in the state are tabulated below along with the intake capacity.

Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Seat Matrix

The application form for admission is available online for the counselling session. Applicants whose names are declared in the merit list are required to report to the office of JKBOPEE office in order to fill up the counselling form and register themselves.

  • Registration Form is filled by the applicant personally. Candidates have to fill in the application form by providing all the details accurately.
  • Course preference and colleges have to be filled in by the applicants. The names of the institute have to be filled in the order of candidate’s preference. 
  • The applicant is also expected to pay for the counselling fee. The form is to be submitted with the JKBOPEE office, after which the counselling session shall start for all eligible applicants.

Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admission Process

NTA releases two cutoff lists for all the states except for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Jammu & Kashmir. Mentioned 3 states have the special admission criteria in case of Medical courses.

  • Generally, only 15% of the admissions are conducted based on NEET and overall India Cutoff Ranks
  • Remaining 85% of the seats are to be filled through state counselling including Jammu and Kashmir. 

Jammu & Kashmir stands differently from regular admission strategies. The state conducts its 100% medical admission based on JK State NEET Cutoff only, this means that the candidates from other states are not at all allowed to join into Jammu –Kashmir  Medical Colleges & no student shall go to the other states for admissions from J & K.

Ans. The qualifying candidate for AIQ seats on the basis of his or her rank in NEET UG that is conducted by NTA are eligible.

Ans. AIR is All India Rank that is over all rank as given by NTA.

Q3. What is All India Quota Rank?

Ans. All India Quota Rank is for the purpose of seat allotment after excluding AP and JK, as per the directions of the hony. Supreme Court The candidates from AP and JK are not eligible to participate in 15% all India quota.

Q4. When will online allotment process for the current year begin?

Ans. The online allotment process shall commence as per the dates provided in the official website.

Q5. What is the date of the commencement of the current year’s MBBS?

Ans. According to the  revised Medical Council of India (MCI) the schedule for admission that is approved by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the session of MBBS and BDS course shall commence as per the given schedule for admission for MBBS course notified by the MCI.
