College of Engineering Pune (CoEP) is an Autonomous Institute located in Pune, Maharashtra and was established in the year 1854. The Institute is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). On March 24, 2022, the state government passed the COEP Technology University bill, which granted a unitary state university status to the College of Engineering, Pune.
COEP offers various B.Tech, M.Tech, PG Diploma, and Ph.D research programs across various streams of Engineering, Architecture and Management. COEP admission is completely entrance-based for all courses offered by the institute. - If you are Pune-based, COEP is the best choice. It has the best infrastructure with a big campus and excellent placements.
- If you want to have an NIT tag under your belt NIT Goa is the best choice.
All these colleges are at a similar level. So, you should choose according to your convenience. If you don’t live at any of these locations then your preference order should be COEP/ VJTI > NIT Goa. VJIT has a great placement record. The average CTC offered by the institute is 7 LPA.

Mechanical Engineering will give you exposure to a variety of branches like Automobile, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Thermal, etc. If you are genuinely interested in Mechanical Engineering, you can go to Sardar Patel College of Engineering. They have a good faculty base for the branch.
