According to my friends at DAIICT, it is definitely a better choice among the two. Considering factors like placement, brand reputation, and coding culture.

The points below give a brief overview of some of the advantages of choosing DAIICT over SVNIT.

  • According to some professors of SVNIT itself, DAIICT is a better institute for CSE and IT, compared to SVNIT.
  • The overall placement statistics of DAIICT are far better than that in SVNIT, with more high-paying jobs offered in the institute.
  • DAIICT doesn’t have as good a reputation as NITs in India. But, in companies like Amazon, MAQ, Morgan Stanley, etc, DAIICT has a far better reputation than SVNIT.
  • There is an excellent open-source coding environment in DAIICT.
  • The number of GSoC entries from both institutes makes it evident that DAIICT has much more success in open-source contribution.

Therefore, it is clear that DAIICT is a much better choice, especially in subjects like CS and IT. In DAIICT, there is a high exposure in higher studies among students. There is a good environment for competitive coding too in DAIICT. In every notable coding contest from platforms like Codeforces, Codechef, etc, there are at least 30-40 participants from DAIICT.

One of my friends secured an AIR (All India Rank) of 7,000 in JEE Main 2017 and obtained a seat in NIT Surat in CSE. It is a good option since the institute is well renowned. More than that, he also decided to visit DA-IICT, Gandhinagar.

Here is his experience of DA-IICT, Gandhinagar with better references -

  1. The professors are well experienced and have Ph.D. from reputed universities. Several faculty members received prestigious awards from being a secretary of IEEE to Padma Shri.
  2. The course curriculum of the institute is dynamic and specialized. It is updated from time to time, to keep industry-relevant.
  3. DA-IICT selects only about 350 candidates from the total number of students in B.Tech. They get selected for GSOC (which is, Google Summer of Code) every single year in large quarters.
  4. The coding culture of DA-IICT is equally accomplished as is in IIIT Hyderabad and IITs. There are several ACM-ICPC World Finalists from DA-IICT. Apparently, unlike other well-reputed universities, DA-IICT students are passionate about coding.

To support the answer, here is a table that distinguishes both of them,

My brother was in the same fix a few years back. After considering various factors he chose IIITM. Here are some of the reasons why he opted for IIITM.

  • DAIICT offers ICT and ICT with minors in Computational Science. Almost 40% of the syllabus is basically Communication. The syllabus will be a combination of ECE and IT. If you are sure about Communication then don’t choose DAIICT.
  • While choosing try to factor in the location too. DAIICT is situated in Gandhinagar, which is far away from our city. So, it was a point of consideration for my brother.
  • DAIICT is private and changes more fees.

Here’s what you should know about the placements and fee structure of the three institutes.

College name

Placement (Average Salary)

Fees (first-year fees)

DA IICT

INR 9.5 to 10 LPA for ICT graduates

INR 1.97 lakhs

IITDM

INR 9.9 LPA

INR 1.38 lakhs

IIITM Gwalior

INR 24.33 LPA

INR 1.49 lakhs

Last but not the least, do not keep faculty as one of your deciding factors. This can be hugely misleading. Visit the official websites of the institutes, weigh in the factors important for you, and choose accordingly. Both these institutes have their advantages.

Choosing among institutes highly depends upon the stream you want to pursue. For branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, DAIICT is a better choice than the other. But, for other departments, Nirma University can be considered to be a better option.

The points below give a brief overview of both the institutes, which will help you make a choice between the two.

  • Both DAIICT and Nirma University offer admission through JEE Main and through the ACPC quota. Considering the previous year’s cut-offs for both the institutes, top rankers prefer DAIICT over Nirma University.
  • The faculties of DAIICT are top-notch. Most of them have had their degrees from top-rated universities all over the world, if not doctorates.
  • At Nirma University, CSE students have certain complaints regarding their faculties diverting from important subjects.
  • The placement statistics of DAIICT have seen a constant growth over the last few years, which is one of the most important aspects of an institute’s growth.
  • Students of DAIICT have turned out to be great software developers and competitive programmers with time. The institute offers a restriction-free environment and flexible schedule in its curriculum, which allows you to explore your areas of interest.
  • In DAIICT, students get the opportunity to explore an excellent hostel life and develop their skills, other than academics too. Even the seniors in DAIICT are very friendly and helpful.

Therefore, DAIICT has a lot of praise in terms of all aspects, whether it is placement or college life. It is definitely a great choice for branches like CSE, IT, and ECE.

Currently, DAIICT is definitely better than IET, Ahmedabad. It is well-developed and offers a competitive environment to the students. Whereas, IET is still in its development phase.

Although IET has made great strides over the past few years, it will have time for it to be on the same level as DAIICT. For ICT, the best colleges in Gujarat are DA-IICT, IET, PDPU.

A few of my friends pursued CSE at NIT Raipur and DA-IICT, and here are some tips for you, based on their experience.

DA-IICT is a better choice and the reasons are as follows.

  • Faculty- The faculty members are good who teach very well.
  • Course curriculum- The campus offers great coding culture and a unique course structure that emphasizes programming from the beginning of the course.
  • You get the option to pursue an honors degree in Computational Science that offers unique courses like High-performance computing, computational finance, etc. This gives an edge over computer science students.
  • Placements- DA-IICT has 100% placement. The average salary packages are INR 10 LPA and the highest salary package offered was INR 40 LPA.

However, at the NITs, you have to study Physics and Chemistry again and subjects like Engineering Drawing that have no relevance with Computer Science as the first year are common amongst all branches. Only the top three NITs- NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, and NIT Surathkal are better than DA-IICT.

  • DCECoders is the Codechef made by DTU students. It is the best place to learn coding on campus.
  • IEEE, ASME, CSI, and IET to smaller organizations put effort into the coding competition. From time to time, you will have coding competitions and classes on the campus.
  • DTU has over 50 societies that need good coders. Where you can apply your coding knowledge to real-time work.
  • Bening situated in the capital of the country, DTU offers good exposure and opportunities. Delhi-NCR is a hub for IT companies, you may be able to get a job in NCR.
  • The institute has a rich legacy of over 75 years. It boasts of a strong alumni network. It has a brand value similar to that of old IITs.
  • The campus is ragging free and seniors are quite helpful. The 85% Delhi quota at the institute brings affluent crowds of Delhi to the campus.
  • The placement process is managed by talented students of the institute. The placement at the institute is great. Even though it is an engineering college the non-technical placement rate of the institute is impressive.
