Should you pick B.Sc (H) Mathematics at Hansraj College?

Pick it if:
Your CUET score sits near 791 or higher on the General list. That was the Round 1 close in 2026, so you are in the safe zone. You want a top-3 NIRF college where the full 3-year fee stays under INR 1 Lakh. An average pay of INR 9.6 LPA against an INR 96,845 fee is a rare deal.
Skip it if:
Your score is well below 721, the last General close of 2026. The list did not drop lower this year. You must have a hostel seat: hostel and mess add INR 1.79 Lakhs and rooms are limited. Or you cannot wait for spot rounds that run till late Aug 2026.
B.Sc (H) Maths Eligibility

Class 12 pass: Any recognised board, with Mathematics as a subject. Aim for 50% or more overall.

CUET UG is a must: CUET UG, the national entrance test, decides admission. Board marks alone do not count.

Subject mapping: You can only take CUET papers you studied in Class 12. The Mathematics paper is compulsory here.

Score combination: DU counts one language + Mathematics + your two best other papers, out of 1000.

No age limit: Gap-year students can apply like everyone else.

Admission Process, step by step

Step 1, the exam: Take CUET UG. The 2026 exam ran 11 to 31 May 2026.

Step 2, register: Sign up on CSAS, DU’s online admission portal. The fee is INR 250 for General, OBC-NCL and EWS, and INR 100 for SC, ST and PwBD.

Step 3, choices: After the result, list your college + course picks. Put Hansraj B.Sc (H) Mathematics high. Choices lock before allocation.

Step 4, the rounds: Got a seat? Accept it in about 2 days, clear online document checks, and pay the fee by the deadline. Freeze means keep this seat. Upgrade means try for a higher choice next round.

Step 5, spot rounds: Missed out? Mid-entry and spot rounds fill seats left vacant at the end.

Among these institutes, Hindu College is better. Only SRCC, Stephens, and LSR can be considered in the same league as Hindu. It has a good reputation among recruiters. The placement cell is active and invites many companies to the placement drive. According to the recent placement statistics, the average CTC offered to the students is INR 8.4 LPA.

Hansraj is also a decent option. National Social Service and other clubs are quite active. Miranda House is on the same level as Hansraj in terms of studies. It is more preferred among students since it is situated right next to the metro station.

One of my friends graduated with a B.A Economics (H) from Hansraj last year. So, I think I can answer your question.

Here are some of the best things about the institute.

  • This college has an ‘old world’ feel. The infrastructure of the college is great.
  • The fee structure is affordable as compared to other private colleges.
  • It has some incredible graduates, including Shahrukh Khan, Ranvijay, and Anurag Kashyap. The list is really long.
  • Amazing crowd, the individuals here are both fun and hardworking at the same time. Admission is based on merit in qualifying examinations.
  • Some of our professors are truly amazing, you will not find such professors at other colleges, even SRCC.
  • There are many societies to explore like dramatics, photography society, and fine arts society, etc.
  • The hostel was my friend’s home for three years, and there is simply no better place to stay when studying at Hansraj. However, it doesn’t have a girls’ hostel.
  • North Campus has the best college location.

You will not regret choosing the institute.

IPM is a complex and challenging course. It is an amalgamation of various subjects such as Maths, Economics, Sociology, etc. The workload will be immense. You will have to work hard to keep up with the coursework. But you will learn to look at things from multiple perspectives.

IPM at IIM Indore also has a good placement record. In the placement drive that was conducted in 2021 virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a placement percentage of 100% has been recorded. The average package offered to the students was INR 23.60 LPA which is higher than the package offered in 2020. In addition to these, the average package offered to the top 100 students was INR 33 LPA. The highest domestic salary offered was INR 41.50 LPA and the international salary was INR 56.80 LPA.

DU offers some leniency. You can miss a couple of classes and will be able to self-study. In the case of Hansraj College, the percentage of placement was 70% in their recent placement drive. The highest package recorded was 20.5 LPA and the average package was INR 5.7 LPA. The top companies were Boston Consulting Group, United Airlines, DE Shaw, etc.

If you want a more relaxed college experience, then go for Hansraj College. Otherwise, IPM will be better.

Almost every student aspires to study at the University of Delhi and Hansraj is a great college to attend. Everyone aspires to attend a college that has no uniforms, few classes, no hassles, and plenty of buddies with anyone you can hang around.

Hansraj has a touch of that liveliness. Here are a few of the things that make Hansraj such a unique choice.

  • DU tag.
  • North Campus has a lovely atmosphere.
  • Lover's Point Cafeteria (LP).
  • Kamla Nagar Market is one of the largest markets in the area.
  • In three years, you can explore a large number of societies.
  • Appropriate quantity of classes to allow time for the rest of your responsibilities.
  • Excellent teachers who are constantly there to guide and support you.
  • The best individuals are everywhere around you; you just need to locate those who are compatible with you.

I have plenty of friends from Hansraj and they had great experiences at the institute.

Hansraj College offers B.Sc. (H) Computer Science program. It records an aggregate of 70% as a placement percentage. After graduating from HRC with a CS degree, there are bleak chances of getting an excellent placement.

Most of the things are dependent on your hard work and skillset in terms of looking for job opportunities. No college can guarantee you 100% placement.

Tabulated below are the recent placement statistics at the college:

Average CTC INR 5.7 LPA
Highest CTC INR 20.5 LPA
Placement Percentage 70%

Overall, it is better to opt for higher education and then get placed at a lucrative package.

The college offers all the basic amenities and decent infrastructure facilities. It includes a central library, sports complex, auditorium, hostel, laboratories, and computer centre. However, it does not offer any hostel facilities for female students.

You have to hunt for accommodation in PGs and hostels in the nearby area. One of the best options is Stanza Living. It is near to the college. One of my friends stayed there for a year, and she found it satisfactory. The facilities include the following.

  • Fully furnished room with air-conditioning
  • Healthy and delicious meals four times a day
  • Expert housekeeping
  • Anytime Laundry services

Apart from the above, the other options for its residents include festival celebrations, movie screenings, lectures, and more. Overall, it will be a great experience.

You may only get a BA program in the 3rd-5th cutoff. If you are interested, then Hindi or Sanskrit Honours is also an option.

If you are looking to do B.Com.(Hons), Economics (Hons), Political Science (Hons), Geography (Hons) then probably no, you need at least 97–97.5%.

It is advised that you choose a course over college. It is much more important to do what you want to do than where you do it from.
