IIIT Nagpur is known for its flagship program of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in the B.Tech program. IIIT Nagpur B.Tech. Admission 2023

IIIT Nagpur offers a 4 years long B.Tech in two specializations, namely, Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The institute charges a fee of INR 2.48 Lakhs for the 1st year of its B.Tech programme. Admissions to the program are based on JEE Main entrance examination followed by JoSAA counselling.

IIIT Nagpur B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission into the B.Tech programme are required to have completed their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects.
Candidates should have scored a minimum of 75% marks or 8 CGPA in their 10+2.

IIIT Nagpur B.Tech Selection Criteria

How is IIIT Nagpur?

IIIT Nagpur offers decent academics and has a good campus environment. The coding culture on campus is rapidly evolving. DotSlah is the coding club of the college. It organizes coding workshops every Tuesday. Students code together under the guidance of 5-6 skilled coders. According to IIIT Nagpur placements 2021, the average and highest CTC offered were INR 8.27 LPA and INR 44.5 LPA, respectively.

How will the new IIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur be?

The ongoing process and overall development of IIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur are considered to be averagely graded, according to the present conditions of the institute. Some of my friends are pursuing their studies at IIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur. I will try to give an insight below about the institutes, based on what I heard from them.

According to placement reports of IIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur, the level of the institutes is close to NITs, if not inferior. As with NITs, they have low academic freedom, a decent undergraduate program with good placements, and almost no scope for research-based works.
There are reports of IIIT Pune rejecting applications to recruit professors with Ph.D. from IIT Bombay or IISc, even without interviewing them. The reason stated for the rejection was the candidates did not have an engineering undergraduate degree, but a mathematics Hons. The institute did not consider excellent research works as important, even from places like IISc and IIT Bombay.
On rejecting candidates with good profiles, the institute selects candidates as professors from Ph.D. in NITs, Nirma University, etc. IIIT Nagpur also has similar records of meaningless decisions.

Thus, there are several irregularities in IIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur which states that the two institutes are on average condition at present times.

What should I choose, IIIT Nagpur CSE or IET DAVV Indore IT?

You should definitely choose CSE at IIIT Nagpur over IT at IET DAVV. There are many compelling reasons for choosing IET DAVV over IIIT Nagpur some of which are given below.

IET DAVV was established way before IIIT Nagpur. IIIT N is a fairly new institute with its first batch passing out in 2020. So industry connections are obviously better at IET.
Being the older institute it obviously has a better and larger alumni base.
It also has a lower fee compared to IIIT Nagpur.
The institute also has a permanent campus while IIIT Nagpur is currently operating from the temporary campus of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s Regional Telecom Training Center.

Does IIIT Nagpur accept the MHCET score?

I have a few friends at IIIT Nagpur, so I think I can give a valid answer for this. IIIT Nagpur does not accept MHCET scores. IIIT Nagpur is a national institute and comes under the purview of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Government of India (GoI), and not under the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra.

According to the rules, IIIT Nagpur accepts only JEE (Mains) score for admission based on its All India Rank. Even it does not have a state quota like NITs (50% seats reserved for home state students). So admission is purely based on your rank at the national level in JEE (Mains).

Should I take admission in Manipal or IIIT Nagpur?

It's confusing because students are presented with several college options and are unsure which to pursue. However, no one can make that decision for you because it is entirely dependent on your preferences.

MIT is a good college that is well known even outside of India. One of my friends studied there and here's what I got to know from him.

The curriculum is simple, and you don't have to put too much pressure on yourself.
At Manipal, you will be exposed to a different way of life, which you will remember for the rest of your life.
Students will have their ups and downs, but Manipal will be there to support you.
The support is not only for the frontbenchers or the backbenchers it's for everyone whether it's in the student's studies, projects, college clubs, or the nightlife.

Which will be better SIT Tumkur ISE or IIIT Nagpur ECE?

SIT Tumkur is a decent choice. Both the ISC and CS branch faculties are very well established as compared to the other faculties in the college. The syllabus is also very well updated and is set according to industry standards.

A number of different companies hire students from a number of different branches with decent packages of INR 3 to 7 LPA. Many different companies like TCS, Accenture, Siemens, Bosch, Byjus, etc. visit the college annually.

Lastly, if you want a fair comparison, my advice to you would be to visit both colleges and get in touch with the departments, their students and seniors. You are basically going to invest 4 years of your life here.

Which college should I join for CS, IIIT Nagpur or IEM Kolkata?

If you get a chance to join top institutes, do your research and opt for the very best. You will be the one to spend 4 years learning that particular subject. In this case, both IIIT Nagpur and IEM Kolkata are good colleges.

Having known people studying in both IIIT Nagpur and IEM, I can say that IIIT Nagpur was recently established whereas IEM is quite older and has enough experience as an educational institution.

It won’t be reliable to take admission in IIIT Nagpur as it is new. Though it possesses a good faculty and placement record.
You can take CS at IEM confidently as the faculty is well experienced and possess relevant qualifications.
Besides, IEM is situated in one of the biggest IT hubs of east India.
Mostly all IT companies near the college visit the campus for recruiting and conduct industry visits.

Is it better to do ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) by IIIT Nagpur or Electrical Engineering by VJTI?

I have a few friends at VJTI and they are not happy with the Electrical Engineering program offered by the institute. Here are some of the things that they mentioned about the institute.

In VJTI, there has been a lack of good faculties for ages. Most of the professors in VJTI lack sufficient experience to deliver proper lectures and provide proper practical exposure to students.
Due to the lack of faculties in VJTI, there are walk-in interviews conducted by the institute to hire faculties. But, even in those interviews, there is no proper candidate with good enough experience. Some of the faculties are even from tier-3 colleges.
There is no proper laboratory equipment available in VJTI, especially in the electrical engineering department. Almost 90% of the lab works are done through software simulations.
The class timings in VJTI are not satisfactory for most students in the institute. On a usual day, classes start from 9 AM and continue till 5 PM, which most students think to be too long and hectic.

Considering the above disadvantages of VJTI, ECE at IIIT Nagpur is a much better choice for students. Here is a brief overview of the ECE course at IIIT Nagpur.

IIIT Nagpur is way better than VIIT Pune on the basis of overall performance including faculty, placement, and other activities. Both the institutes have collaboration with many reputed research institutes like TIFR, IUUCA, and various Electronics and IT industries from India as well as other countries.

Faculty:

VIIT Pune has 30 highly qualified faculty members for computer engineering whereas the department of electronics and communication at IIIT Nagpur have proficient faculties along with the several visiting professors from VNIT.

Laboratory:

The laboratories are well equipped at both of the institutes for computer engineering and electronics and communication engineering. But IIIT Nagpur upgrades their laboratories for electronics and communication from time to time to provide high-end computational and electronics facilities.

Admission process:

The admission process is based on academic records and entrance examination scores.IIIT Nagpur takes admission through JEE Mains whereas, VIIT Pune accepts both JEE Main score and MHT-CET scores. The JEE Mains closing cutoff for the programs in 2019 is as follows.

ECE at IIIT Nagpur- 35236
CSE at VIIT- 2648

The intake for B.Tech Computer Engineering at VIIT Pune is about 180 whereas at IIIT Nagpur intake for the B.Tech Electronics and communication program is 120.

Course fee:

The course fee for B.Tech in computer science engineering at VIIT Pune is 1.5 lakhs per year and at IIIT Nagpur for B.Tech ( Electronics and communication engineering) the course fee is about 2.35 lakhs per year.

Placement:

Both VIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur have their own training and placement cell. They help students to prepare for placement by conducting Aptitude training, tests, and GD/PI.

VIIT Pune-

According to the placement statistics of 2019, the highest and lowest CTC offered to the CSE students was 15 lakh and 2.4 lakh.

Top recruiters are Accenture Ltd, TCS, Wipro, Mindtree, Bajaj Auto, Infosys, Cognizant, etc.

IIIT Nagpur-

The placement highlights of 2020 show the highest CTC and average CTC received by the students was 20 LPA and 8.5 LPA.

Major recruiters at the institute are TCS, CleverTap, Wiley NXT, Virtusa, L & T InfoTech, Siemens, Arm technology, etc.

It is difficult to compare two institutes for two different courses. As a course, CSE has better opportunities than ECE. However, you should choose the course you are more passionate about and the institute according to that.
