Ques. Which is the better for B.Tech, IIIT Bhubaneswar or CET Bhubaneswar?

Ans. IIIT Bhubaneswar offers a good placement as compared to other colleges in the city. The highest package offered is INR 8-10 LPA. The graduates from the institute are placed in top-notch companies such as Dell, Hitachi Consulting, Utopia Global etc. It also has a better CSE/IT/ECE branch department as compared to CET Bhubaneswar.

CET Bhubaneswar is still developing it's infrastructure. Faculty is good but not as good as compared to IIIT Bhubaneswar. The placements are average, i.e. INR 3-4 LPA.

Ques. What is the minimum score in IIT Mains to get to IIIT Bhubaneswar?

Ans. Approximately 50% of seats are reserved for the state's students (i.e., Odisha). So if you are from Odisha you must score at least 120 marks. But if you are from some other state you will be having only All India Quota (15%) so need to have a good score. Also, the cut-off criteria completely depends on the no. of students giving the exam and the category of the candidate.

Regardless of any category or state, one must score at least 140-150 marks to get a good college.

Ques. Can I get admission into IIIT Bhubaneswar with 124 marks in the JEE Mains?

Ans. If you are planning to take admission in CSE or IT branch, then as per the marks, it is difficult to get admission in these branches, but you can get admission in ECE or EEE branches, but it also depends on the seat availability and the cut-off.

Ans. The institute provides a good environment in terms of studies. The IT branch is considered the best. In terms of placements, the average package offered is INR 4-5 LPA. You can end up having a good job in a good company like Infosys, Dell, Wipro, HSBC etc. The institute also has well-equipped computer laboratories.

Ques. Is taking admission to IIIT Bhubaneswar for an M.Tech in Electrical Engineering worth it?

Ans. Taking admission for M.Tech is an average option as not many companies come here for placement. And the package offered is the same as that of a B.Tech student i.e. INR 6-8 LPA.

Ques. How to contact IIIT Bhubaneswar in case of an emergency related to the admission process?

Ans.Candidates can contact IIIT Bhubaneswar through the email addresses provided by the official website. Here are the email contacts:

  • btechadmission@iiit-bh-ac.in (for B.Tech related queries)
  • admission@iiit-bh-ac.in (for the M.Tech and other admission related queries)

Apart from this, they can also call on the provided number, throughout the week.

Ques. How important are the marks of the 12th standard for seeking admission in IIIT Bhubaneswar?

Ans. While it should be fine if the candidates have a 75% average score, they need to score a minimum i.e. 45% in subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry. They should, however, focus on scoring well in JEE Mains.

I gave my Jee mains and Jee advance Unfortunately couldn't clear Jee advance but clearing Jee mains got me into this college (iiit Bhubaneswar) The cutoff varies every year, the cutoff list can be found on college website which includes the eligibility of different branches There is a state quota reservation and another reservation quota too (i.e.) st, sc,obc and PWD which makes students easy to get admission with less percentile in jee mains The improvement I want to see in the admission process is that the college admission administration can be improved and should be making new students know the admission process instead of calling the office again and again inquiring about the admission process

If you are considering IIIT Bangalore and IIIT Allahabad for your undergraduate studies in computer science and information technology, there are several factors you should take into account before making a decision.

  • IIIT Bangalore offers an iMtech program combining bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science and engineering, while IIIT Allahabad offers a bachelor's program in information technology that can later be converted to a master's degree.
  • IIITA is a government institute, while IIITB is based on a public-private partnership model.
  • IIITA has a larger campus and lower fees, while IIITB has better-credentialed faculty and no reservations of any kind.
  • Both institutes have great infrastructure, excellent placement records, and coding cultures, but IIITB has a higher ratio of students qualifying for the Google Summer of Code.
  • IIITB is located in the heart of Electronic City, which houses major companies such as Siemens, HP, Infosys, and HCL, providing ample opportunities for internships and exposure.
  • The course structure at IIITB is more rigorous, and the peer group is stronger due to no reservations. The focus is primarily on academics and coding, with secondary attention given to sports and cultural activities.
  • IIIT Allahabad's course structure is less rigorous due to a mixed peer group. The student community focuses more on extracurricular activities in addition to academics and coding.
  • IIIT Allahabad has a lower cutoff for admissions and more seats, resulting in a more diverse peer group.
  • IIIT Allahabad has lower fees and is located in a city with a rich cultural heritage.

Before making a decision, it is essential to weigh the pros and cons of both institutes and determine which factors are most important to you. Consider factors such as city connect, peer group, course structure, focus on academics or extracurricular activities, and the environment that would help you thrive. With careful consideration, you can choose the institute that is the best fit for you and your goals.

If you are looking for an ECE branch, you may want to consider IIIT Guwahati over IIIT Bhubaneswar and MIT Manipal. IIIT Guwahati is an Institute of National Importance and is centrally funded, while IIIT Bhubaneswar is a state-funded institute and MIT Manipal is a private institute.

IIIT Guwahati has been making significant improvements in terms of infrastructure and placements every year. In contrast, IIIT Bhubaneswar seems to have reached a saturation point with no significant increase in placement or campus facilities.

Moreover, the faculty at IIIT Guwahati encourages research at the undergraduate level. Many seniors have already started researching on AI, ML, cybersecurity, and communication as early as the 3rd semester. This could be an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in research.

Additionally, all the laboratories at IIIT Guwahati are open to access for students who wish to work on personal projects, subject to administration permission, which is easy to obtain. This could be helpful for students who want to gain practical experience beyond the coursework.

In conclusion, if you are interested in pursuing ECE, IIIT Guwahati could be an excellent choice due to its status as an Institute of National Importance, centrally funded status, improving infrastructure and placement record, faculty support for research at the undergraduate level, and open laboratory access.

Choosing between IIIT Bhubaneswar and IIIT Vadodara for CSE depends on several factors. Here are some factors that you may want to consider:

  • Reputation and Ranking: Both institutes have a good reputation and are considered among the top engineering colleges in India. IIIT Bhubaneswar is ranked higher than IIIT Vadodara in various national and international rankings.
  • Course Curriculum: You must dig deeper into the course curriculum offered by both institutes and see which one aligns more with your interests and career goals. Check if the institute offers electives that align with your interests and if they provide enough practical exposure.
  • Faculty: Check the faculty profiles and their research areas of both institutes. It will give you an idea of the research culture and expertise that the institute offers.
  • Campus Infrastructure: Consider the infrastructure and facilities provided by both institutes, such as hostel facilities, labs, libraries, sports facilities, etc.
  • Placements: During BTech placements in 2022 at IIIT Bhubaneswar, the highest package offered was INR 25 LPA, while the average package stood at INR 8 LPA. IIIT Bhubaneswar is a recently constructed campus that operates as a satellite campus of IIIT Vadodara. Both institutes share the same placement cell. In the 2021-22 placement drive, a total of 85 companies visited IIIT Vadodara resulting in a 100% placement rate, with an average salary package of 14 LPA.
  • Location: Consider the location of both institutes and see which one is more convenient for you in terms of accessibility and cost of living.

Overall, both institutes are good options for CSE. So, make a well-informed decision based on your preferences and goals.

There are several reasons why the placements of IIIT Bhubaneswar do not hike to the level of IIIT Guwahati. One of my friends is among the recent alumni of the institute and has a better idea about the same. Here is what he has to say.

  • While IIIT Guwahati is an institute of National Importance, IIIT Bhubaneswar is not.
  • IIIT Guwahati usually also has the provision of industry support from various major companies because of the status of national importance it has. It also comes under MHRD, GOI directly. IIIT Bhubaneswar doesn’t enjoy the same privilege.
  • IIIT Guwahati receives funds and support directly from the central government, unlike IIIT Bhubaneswar.
  • IIIT Guwahati was first established by MHRD and was among the few newer IIITs to have their permanent campus quite early.
  • The peer group at IIIT Guwahati is better due to the higher cut-off as compared to IIIT Bhubaneswar.

These are the reasons behind the poor placement record of IIIT Bhubaneswar.

29 Apr 21B.E Electronics and Communication Engineering, RV College of Engineering (2021)

I have many friends from RV College of Engineering, Bangalore and according to their first-hand experience of 4 years, it is concluded that it is indeed the better choice. Here’s why:

  1. Location: RVCE is situated in Bangalore - Silicon city of India. Here, Location is a big advantage for you because of proximity with more IT industries and metro cities.
  2. Peers: Students who get admission in RVCE are the topmost performers in Karnataka CET, so you will be among one of the best talents.
  3. Alumni network: It plays an important role while studying there and even after completing your degree. RVCE is one of the oldest and well-established colleges in Karnataka. Hence, the Alumni network is huge and quite well-settled.
  4. Exams: Admissions at IIIT Bhubaneshwar are solely based on JEE Mains. However, it may not be on the list of high performers of JEE as they mostly get selected in other top ITs, NITs, and IIITs.

Both the colleges are good and well-reputed. Also, your preferred branch Computer Science has a broad scope in any of the good institutes. However, the above few parameters get RV College the trophy here.

Here is a brief overview of each one of them that might help you choose the best.

IIIT Bhubaneswar: It has been recognized as an International Institute of Information Technology, where the first 50% of the seats are primarily reserved for the Odisha category, while the other 50% is decided upon the JEE Mains. The placement is comparably the same as IIIT Vadodara and in terms of infrastructure, it is largely adequate too.

IIIT Vadodara: The campus is as of now temporarily functioning at GEC Gandhinagar, Gujarat. However, it still has a very reputed technical culture surrounding students, as well as the placements, are continually hiking each year. It is proof of how it is rapidly growing. The hostels of the institute are extremely good, as opposed to most of the other IIITs.

IIIT Una: It was established after IIIT Vadodara. It is at present functioning from NIT. It, unfortunately, has poor transportation facilities.

Nonetheless, for a better idea, here is a brief highlight of each institute’s placement stats for the year 2020.

My friend is a student of Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) and has a better opinion on the same. The CS branch in PICT is among the top three CS course offerings in the Maharashtra State Colleges. Here are some of the advantages of choosing PICT Pune CS.

  • You will have good classmates who are among the top 10% in either MH board exams or the CET exams.
  • You will get better placements, the average of which has been around 90%. The placement details of both institutes are as follows.

  • PICT also has a good alumni network.
  • The major upside of choosing PICT is that you can be in close touch with the corporate side from the beginning of your 3rd-year college projects and events. It is because the location is favorable.
  • According to my friend, the professors at PICT are well experienced.

However, before making any decision, you should run a check on both of the institutes.

IT from IIIT Bhubaneswar is a better option. Compared to CET Bhubaneswar it offers better infrastructure, placement opportunities, peer-group, research exposure, and hostel environment. Since it is an Informational Technology institute, they focus more on Computer Science, technology, etc. IIIT Bhubaneswar has a better faculty base as well. During IIIT Bhubaneswar placement 2020, students received the highest CTC of INR 44 LPA.

If you belong to Odisha, you will have a better chance of getting into IIIT Bhubaneswar with a JEE score of 100. The institute has a state quota. 50% of the seats are reserved for Odisha State students. With your score you can get IT easily, there’s a good chance of getting EEE as well.

AM

Abhinav Mundra

14 Aug 20B.Tech from International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (2021)

Students can choose any branch of their choice, if they belong from Odisha, also if they have secured 100+ marks in their IIT Mains. Approximately 50% of seats are reserved only for Odisha Students. Candidates from other states will not be applicable to any type of Quota. IIIT Bhubaneswar conducts its own Counselling process for the Admission of Odisha Students.

The admission of Odisha Candidates is done on the basis of the JEE Main 2020 CRL ranking but for Non- Odisha Candidates it is done on the basis of JoSSA/CSAB 2020. Candidates from outside of Odisha required to score between 120 - 125 for the CSE branch and 90 marks for the IT branch in the Year 2017. However, if you can cross these criteria then you will surely get any branch of your choice for 2020. You must have to score little above the qualification level for JEE advanced. It would be a safe line for students. The chances are low if your score is less than 125. You may or may not get the chance to ensure the seat.

The cut off criteria completely depends on the demand of the engineers in India. It also depends on the Category of a Candidate. If we talk about General Category students, one must secure a minimum of 130 marks for CSE, 120 marks for ECE, and 110 marks for EEE in their JEE Mains. Admission into CSE is a little bit difficult to predict the admission rate for General Candidates. For this, students should score above the cut off marks. Also, the Government gives the advantage to female students of Odisha by reserving 95% seats.

Do not panic and keep trying your best. You will achieve your goal successfully.
