DJ Sanghvi and KJ Somaiya offer similar opportunities to the students. However, KJ Somiya offers a better campus life and more academic freedom.
VIT Pune is better. It is autonomous and offers better teaching, placement, and exposure. VIT Pune fees are lower than at MIT. So, the ROI is better in comparison.

VIT Pune is the best college for engineering, after COEP. The campus isn’t that great but you will get decent exposure and opportunities. Placements depend on the branch you are choosing.
Academics:
The college has a dedicated faculty base. They give equal impotence to practicals and lab sessions along with theoretical learning so that students can understand better. Lab examinations are conducted quite strictly.
Projects:
As per the college rules, you are required to complete a mini-project each semester, as a part of a group. Every group is allotted a teacher who helps with the project and also evaluates it.
Exposure:
VIT collaborates with a few universities in Canada and Hoff University of Germany. If you are selected, you can spend a semester or two at these universities. These are great options to expand your horizon.
Internship & Placements:
VIT encourages students to take internships. They also encourage students to take a semester-long internship in their final year. VIT has decent placement statistics. In the recent placement drive, the average CTC offered was 4.77 LPA.
MIT Pune cutoff through JEE Main usually stays above 90 percentile. You will need a score of around 150+. MIT assigns 50% weight to past academics. So, you need to have a good academic record as well to get a shortlist.
VIT cutoff stays around 96+ percentile, for general category students. With a percentile in this range, you will have a good chance of getting Mechanical, Electronics, or Chemical Engineering.
These are tentative ranks. The required cutoff varies depending on various factors such as branch, competition, seat availability, etc.
For VIT, the management quota fees for B.Tech CSE are around 18-20 lakh. Other than this amount you will also have to pay the course fee of around INR 1.32 lakhs. If you are getting admission through the management quota, you can’t change your branch in the second year. For MIT, the management quota fees will be more than 10 lakh.

If you are planning on pursuin Computer Science then choosing PICT will be better than VIT. It offers better placement opportunities. According to the recent placement highlights the average and highest CTC offered by PICT is 7.75 LPA and 91 LPA respectively.
Don’t choose VIT, just because it is autonomous. However, it does offer flexible academics and less number of lectures. If you get a backlog, you can clear it within one month.
Depending on the branch, the cutoff varies for MIT Pune and VIT Pune. Among these two institutes, VIT is more preferred since it is an autonomous college. According to the recent statistics, the required cutoff for VIT stays around 170-185. After VIT, MIT is most preferred among students. The cutoff required for MIT is around 160-175.
VIT Pune is quite good in terms of placement for CSE. Most of the companies that visit the placement drive are from CS/IT sector. Most students from the CSE branch get placed. VIT Pune CSE average package is 4 LPA. In last year’s placement drive the highest CTC offered was 9 LPA. If you have a decent academic record and the required skills you can definitely bag a job with a good salary.
Life at VIT isn’t much different than any other college in Pune. The only difference is that VIT Pune is autonomous. So, it has the freedom to determine its own curricular, grading system, and calendar.
There are options to join various teams such as Speakers club, Robocon, SAE, collegiate club, IEEE, etc. The faculties are friendly so are the seniors. You won’t need to buy books from outside. The college library has a good collection of books. There is also a reference and journal collection that you can refer to.
Each academic year usually has 3 months long holiday other than the 1-2 day holidays. Various events take place around the academic year such as Vishwakarandak (inter-departmental competition), Melange (inter-college competition). There are many hangout places inside the campus, i.e. Boat Club, Minus 2, New Poona Bakery, etc. Outside the campus, there aren’t many hangout spots.
The placement scenario at VIT is pretty good. In recent years the average CTC was 4-5 LPA. Many reputed companies visit the campus placement.
VIT Pune used to have one of the best hostels in Pune. But for some policy decisions, they had to let go of the hostel. The new student accommodation is decent but it is further away from the college around 2.5 km.
Rather it will be better to rent an apartment closer to the college. It will save you both time and money.
