Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is btech computer science. I always had a thing for computers and so I chose this field. The first year is common for all branches and all the branch students are mixed and alloted classes till the second sem. In the third sem, the classes are alloted according to batches but still, the course syllabus is the same for the third sem too. My college has a great staff, and highly trained and educated professionals who help us through this journey and guide us for our project. Vit Pune is an autonomous college that is it governs itself it has the whole autonomy over when and how to take exams, here most of the marks are given to projects, assignments, and attendance, and the theory portion is given very less weightage so passing the exam is not at all difficult.

I had some sort of interest in this field so I chose mechanical engineering. The faculties for the branch are renowned. I think the faculty-student ratio can be 40:1. The facilities are Ph.D. in their fields and really helpful. The term exams are of two types i.e., written and practical. Written exams are easy but practical exams are quite challenging.

● Top Answer By Jiya Banerjee on 02 Sept 21

Ans
I can give you information about KJ Somaiya and DJ Sanghvi since I have friends from these institutes.  If you are inclined towards an autonomous university, then KJ Somaiya would be a better choice. Apart from that, you can choose either institute based on how close it is to your location. Both the institutes share almost the same placement records. Here is a brief highlight of the same.  Institutes KJ Somaiya DJ Sanghvi Highest Salary Package INR 29.75 LPA INR 20.38 LPA Average Salary Package INR 9.4 LPA INR 6.60 LPA Top Recruiting Firms Cognizant, FedEx, Amazon, ITC, DE Shaw, Zolo Stays, PwC, Accenture J.P Morgan, Adobe, Morgan Stanley, Reliance Industries Ltd., MU Sigma DJ Sanghvi has a 50% Gujarati minority, exactly like KJ Somaiya, which means students of the same location have pretty high chances of being shortlisted.  The cut-off, however, is relevant in both institutes. You need to obtain scores above average in order to get shortlisted.  The campus life at KJ Somaiya is one of the best you will encounter, unlike many others. DJ Sanghvi and KJ Somaiya offer similar opportunities to the students. However, KJ Somiya offers a better campus life and more academic freedom.

Ques
How is the VIT, PUNE college for engineering? How are the placements?

● Top Answer By Subham Dasgupta on 05 Feb 22

Ans
VIT Pune is the best college for engineering, after COEP. The campus isn’t that great but you will get decent exposure and opportunities. Placements depend on the branch you are choosing.  Academics:  The college has a dedicated faculty base. They give equal impotence to practicals and lab sessions along with theoretical learning so that students can understand better. Lab examinations are conducted quite strictly.  Projects:  As per the college rules, you are required to complete a mini-project each semester, as a part of a group. Every group is allotted a teacher who helps with the project and also evaluates it.  Exposure:  VIT collaborates with a few universities in Canada and Hoff University of Germany. If you are selected, you can spend a semester or two at these universities. These are great options to expand your horizon.  Internship & Placements:  VIT encourages students to take internships. They also encourage students to take a semester-long internship in their final year. VIT has decent placement statistics. In the recent placement drive, the average CTC offered was 4.77 LPA.

Ques
How is life at VIT Pune?

● Top Answer By Oindrila Dasgupta on 29 Jan 22

Ans
Life at VIT isn’t much different than any other college in Pune. The only difference is that VIT Pune is autonomous. So, it has the freedom to determine its own curricular, grading system, and calendar.  There are options to join various teams such as Speakers club, Robocon, SAE, collegiate club, IEEE, etc. The faculties are friendly so are the seniors. You won’t need to buy books from outside. The college library has a good collection of books. There is also a reference and journal collection that you can refer to.  Each academic year usually has 3 months long holiday other than the 1-2 day holidays. Various events take place around the academic year such as Vishwakarandak (inter-departmental competition), Melange (inter-college competition). There are many hangout places inside the campus, i.e. Boat Club, Minus 2, New Poona Bakery, etc. Outside the campus, there aren’t many hangout spots.  The placement scenario at VIT is pretty good. In recent years the average CTC was 4-5 LPA. Many reputed companies visit the campus placement.

Ques
How are hostel facilities in VIT, Pune?

● Top Answer By Rajashree Neogi on 29 Jan 22

Ans
VIT Pune used to have one of the best hostels in Pune. But for some policy decisions, they had to let go of the hostel. The new student accommodation is decent but it is further away from the college around 2.5 km.  Rather it will be better to rent an apartment closer to the college. It will save you both time and money.
