Life at VIT isn’t much different than any other college in Pune. The only difference is that VIT Pune is autonomous. So, it has the freedom to determine its own curricular, grading system, and calendar.
There are options to join various teams such as Speakers club, Robocon, SAE, collegiate club, IEEE, etc. The faculties are friendly so are the seniors. You won’t need to buy books from outside. The college library has a good collection of books. There is also a reference and journal collection that you can refer to.
Each academic year usually has 3 months long holiday other than the 1-2 day holidays. Various events take place around the academic year such as Vishwakarandak (inter-departmental competition), Melange (inter-college competition). There are many hangout places inside the campus, i.e. Boat Club, Minus 2, New Poona Bakery, etc. Outside the campus, there aren’t many hangout spots.
The placement scenario at VIT is pretty good. In recent years the average CTC was 4-5 LPA. Many reputed companies visit the campus placement.
