Computer engineering is a most in-demand branch. There are many job opportunities for computer engineers. PICT follows the SPPU curriculum. The faculty is good. Faculties have completed post-graduation or PhD. The teaching method is good. There are course outcomes and program outcomes given which have to be fulfilled after completion of the course. There are 8 semesters in 4years course. Each semester has insem and endsem exams. Insem is conducted in between semesters and endsem is conducted at end of the semester. It is not very difficult to pass the exams but it is difficult to get a good score.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Faculty at pict is quite strict in terms of attendance and discipline. As you need to submit the assignments timely and maintain a balanced attendance. If attendance is below the certain mark of 75% you won't be allowed to sit the semester examination, so maintain your attendance for the start. Assignment submissions is not an easy job. Exams are also strictly conducted here. Most of the teachers are kind and helpful. But if you ever get into a heated conversation with any of the teachers (first of all never get into one ) then it might be painful for you at the end of the semester as all the submission work and internal marks are dependent on their shoulders. So please behave properly and respect them. Talk politely and kindly and all will be great for you.

I tried for CS but the cutoff for CS was a very very high impact on IT too it was very high in 2020 due to covid there were 2 cap rounds only hence I was lucky due to inaccessibility in the state due to covid restrictions and short notice very few participants were there in spot round and I got it open category rank 1596. Faculty of Superb. All teachers are proficient in their field. you may feel that teachers dont teach properly in lectures but it's a common feeling. If you interact with them you will come to know about the knowledge they have. Exams are not difficult to pass. But yes engineering is Adventurous

Ques
Should I pursue IT at PICT or CSE at IIIT-Pune (Chakan)?

● Top Answer By Anubhav Kumar on 23 Mar 21

Ans
I have a friend at IIIT Pune. I only heard good things about the institute from him. Here are some facts about IT at PICT and CSE at IIIT-Pune, which may help you to decide.  Teachers: All of the faculties of IIIT-Pune are Ph.D. holders from institutes like IIT KGP, NITs, and foreign universities. Most of the faculties of PICT are M.Tech or still pursuing their PhDs. Crowd:  Instead of going home during vacations, students attend Android and Web development workshops.  Faculties encourage students to take up projects and internships from the first semester. Degree:  Students get B.Tech in IIIT-Pune as compared to a B.E. at PICT.  IIIT-Pune's curriculum doesn't include subjects like Civil, Engineering Drawing, Mechanics, Mechanical, Chemistry which are of no use in the course of CSE. Institute of National Importance: IIIT-Pune is like all the IITs, NITs, IIITs which is an Institute of National Importance( INI) which leads to a lot of Government funds and monetary support.  Students who did their 12th from the MP board or others can receive a full tuition fee waiver for 4 years of their B. Tech since IIIT Pune is an INI. Sports and Clubs: Any student can start a club of their own if they have a passion for something at IIIT-Pune.  IIIT- Pune bagged 5 medals in IIT- BHU’s Annual Sports Fest Spardha and continues to receive honors in other sports events as well. Attendance and Holidays: PICT has minimum attendance criteria of 75% and PICT imposes an 80% attendance. PICT has 9 days winter break and 15 days summer break, so if you are not a local then you will not get to see much of your family. At IIIT-Pune students get 1 month of Winter Break and about 2.5 months of Summer Break.  Exposure and Brand: IIIT-Pune students usually go for two industrial visits to Infosys and Tech Mahindra.  IIIT is a brand as there are a total of 23 IIITs in India and are recognized throughout the country and overseas.  IIIT-Pune also has inter-IIT sports and technical fests every year where all the IIITs across the country take part. Students think that PICT is old so it’s better and yes it’s been around for 20 years since PICT’s inception and it has developed whereas IIIT-Pune is just 2 years old and has the potential for tremendous growth.

Ques
Is VIT Pune better than PICT?

● Top Answer By Senjuti Dasgupta on 29 Jan 22

Ans
If you are planning on pursuin Computer Science then choosing PICT will be better than VIT. It offers better placement opportunities. According to the recent placement highlights the average and highest CTC offered by PICT is 7.75 LPA and 91 LPA respectively.  Don’t choose VIT, just because it is autonomous. However, it does offer flexible academics and less number of lectures. If you get a backlog, you can clear it within one month.

Ques
Which is better, PICT Pune or IIIT Kota?

● Top Answer By Shalini Kunwar on 17 Jul 21

Ans
Among the above two institutes, IIIT Kota is a definite choice, which is without doubt surpassing PICT Pune by all means of judgment. The points below give a brief overview of both the institutes that will support the choice with a lot of valid reasons. IIIT Kota is an institute of national importance, whereas PICT Pune is a private engineering college in Maharashtra that most people are not aware of. IIIT Kota has a larger perception of the development of its students. It even offers foreign internship opportunities and has tie-ups with several industries. IIIT Kota has a very good coding culture and offers excellent placements in top-tier companies across the world. There is no management quota for admission in IIIT Kota. Coming to PICT Pune, the institute has no ranking and recognition. It is highly attendance-centric and has no hostel for boarding. Even the campus of PICT Pune is just 5 acres in area, with no facilities for activities other than studies on campus. PICT Pune has no valid tie-ups with companies and does not allow students to go for internships due to attendance issues. There are no modern facilities on the campus. The syllabus followed by PICT is very old and primitive. It even allows management quota. Considering the average placement records of the two institutes, CSE at IIIT Kota offers around 10 LPA CTC. For PICT Pune, the average CTC offered is around 7 LPA. It is obvious that IIIT Kota is a clear winner among the two. But, there are fake reviews from consultants over the internet supporting these institutes, which students should avoid looking after.

Ques
What should I choose between PICT Pune computer engineering and IIIT Bhubaneswar CSE?

● Top Answer By Shreya Mittal on 10 Jun 21

Ans
My friend is a student of Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) and has a better opinion on the same. The CS branch in PICT is among the top three CS course offerings in the Maharashtra State Colleges. Here are some of the advantages of choosing PICT Pune CS. You will have good classmates who are among the top 10% in either MH board exams or the CET exams. You will get better placements, the average of which has been around 90%. The placement details of both institutes are as follows. Institute PICT, Pune IIIT Bhubaneswar Average CTC 7.75 LPA 3.6 LPA Highest CTC 91 LPA 44 LPA PICT also has a good alumni network. The major upside of choosing PICT is that you can be in close touch with the corporate side from the beginning of your 3rd-year college projects and events. It is because the location is favorable. According to my friend, the professors at PICT are well experienced. However, before making any decision, you should run a check on both of the institutes.

Ques
Which one is better, IIT Bhubaneswar in civil or PICT in computer science?

● Top Answer By Biswajeet Rane on 14 Aug 20

Ans
You should always choose the branch in which you prefer studying and building your career rather than focusing on the college name. In terms of faculties, both institutes boast of excellent faculties in the respective branches with high educational qualifications and industry expertise. IIT Bhubaneswar charges approx. ? 8 lakhs for 4 years and PICT charges approx. ? 4 lakhs for 4 years. According to placement statistics, IIT BSR recorded campus placement of 89% of students in Civil Engineering in 2019 with adequate opportunities for summer internships as well. The average CTC offered at IIT BSR was around 11.44 LPA. On the other hand, PICT Pune records 90% final placement in Computer Science in 2019 with offers from companies like Microsoft, Yahoo, Amdocs, PhonePe, HP, etc. but they do not provide any internship opportunity to the students from campus. Besides these, both the campuses boast of highly functional campus life with good residential hostels for the students and peer-learning enabled sessions.
