Question: The average weight of a class of 40 students is 40 kg. If the weight of the teacher is included, the average weight increases by 500 grams. The weight of the teacher is:

       A. 40.5 kg
       B. 60 kg
       C. 60.5 kg
       D. 62 kg
       E. 64 kg

Answer: C

Approach Solution (1):
Total weight of class before teacher = 40*40 = 1600
After adding teacher total weight = 41*40.5 = 1660.5
So weight of teacher is 1660.5 - 1600 = 60.5

Correct option: C

Approach Solution (2):
Total weight of students = 40* avg weight =1600;
Total Weight of students plus teacher = 41* average weight (40.5) = 1660.5
Weight of teacher = 1660.5 - 1600 = 60.5 kg

Correct option: C

Approach Solution (3):
Weight of the teacher = Total weight of 40 students and teacher - total weight of 40 students = 41 x 40.5 - 40 x 40 kg = 60.5kg

Correct option: C
