Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2023 is conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Tamil Nadu. Admissions to the MBBS in Tamil Nadu are done based on the NEET cutoff and counseling. The medical colleges in Tamil Nadu offer seats to 7400 candidates for MBBS and 2873 candidates for BDS.
Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling will take place after NEET 2023. NEET 2023 will take place on May 7, 2023. The candidates would be allowed 49 medical and 29 dental colleges under 85% state quota seats and private colleges in the state. Based on the NEET result, the merit list has been released by the colleges mentioning the All India Rank and other important details of the candidate. According to the state merit rank, the candidates would be called by the 10 colleges for the final step of document verification followed by counseling.
MBBS is an undergraduate program with a duration of 4 years and 6 months followed by a 1-year compulsory rotatory internship. Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2023: Eligibility criteria
The basic criteria for getting admission to MBBS are determined by the authority. The following few lines cover the most important aspects that a candidate needs to keep in mind before getting himself or herself admitted to the colleges.
- Nationality: candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- Domicile Candidate: The candidate must be a bona fide resident of TN.
- Candidates who have completed their class 6 to 12 education from the state are not required to submit the nativity certificate. However, they have to submit their parent's birth certificate ration card SSLC/10/12 certificate, or no graduate certificate if their parents are illiterate.
- Applications from other states living currently in Tamil Nadu are not considered domicile status and must take admitted in the open category.
- Domiciles of Tamil Nadu who have completed their partial education from class 6 to 12th in another state must submit the important documents of their parents as mentioned above. A permanent residence certificate will not be accepted as an alternative to the nativity certificate.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be 17 years old. The upper limit of age for NEET is 25 years for the general category and 30 years for SC ST and OBC.
- Education: The candidate must have completed class 12th in the required subjects(PCB) with biotechnology and English as the main subjects from the state.
- Unreserved category must have at least 50% in PCB while SC ST and OBC students are required to obtain 40% in the required subjects.

- Tamil Nadu MBBS application forms will be made available and candidates can apply for colleges in online mode.
- Tamil Nadu MBBS and BDS application forms can also be accessed by students in offline mode. Candidates who are filling out the application forms offline will have to fill it and submit it at the following address: No. 162, Periyar E.V.R., High Road, Kilpauk, Chennai.
- Filling out the application forms will not confirm participation in Tamil Nadu MBBS counseling 2023. Candidates will have to complete the document verification round successfully in order to ensure candidature.
