Coochbehar Government Engineering College is situated in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. It is a new government college which came into functioning from the year 2016. This college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUT) (Formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology) and the department of higher education, Government of West Bengal. It is well linked the city of Coochbehar so that it is within the reach of every student. The college campus is spread over a vast area of 20 acres. The institute has state-of-the-art infrastructure, highly qualified and dedicated faculty and top notch facilities for the ease of the students.
As the name describes this college is specially for engineering. It offers engineering courses in five core fields. As the college was started in 2016 it has not yet faced the placement of the first batch even that is why placement data is unavailable due to which there is no ranking for this college.

CGEC Admission 2024
The institute follows centralized admission procedure as it is a government institute. For admission students need to first enroll for the state counselling on the basis of the WBJEE examinations rank in order to get eligible for the counselling.
How to Apply?
- The candidates should visit the official website of the University/ WBJEE and register themselves on th ecounselling portal.
- After that login with credentials and click on the ‘Apply online’ link under the ‘Admission’ section on the homepage.
- Candidate has to fill the admission form with correct details
- Only one application must be submitted for each course.
- Applicants need to upload a soft copy/ scanned copy of his/ her passport size photograph at the time of filling the online application from.
- Finally submit the form and take a print out for the same for future reference.

- Laboratories: the college has a centralized computer lab with 1:1 computer to student ratio lab, which is equipped with high end latest computers and 34mbps wifi/wired internet connectivity. There is a separate lab for computer science students. High end laboratory for all the courses equipped with required tools and machineries for hands on training.
- Library: The College is endowed with a fully computerized state-of-the-art library with an area of 408 Sq.mtr, which has a collection of nearly 621 titles, 9275 volumes of Books, with modern software for Library Management and Documentation.
- Hostel: However the hostel facility is limited only to girl students.

CGEC Faculty
The college provides highly qualified faculty members with qualifications upto Mtech and doctoral levels. All the faculties are well experienced with work experience of upto 15 years in the relevant fields.

Ques. What is the hostel fee in the college?
Ans. The hostel is only available for girl students. The hostel fee per semester is INR 1,700. For the first semester students need to pay security deposits and one time fee which make the sum to INR 4,700 per semester. Note this is only for the first semester after that regular fee will be applicable.
Ques. Is mess facility available in hostels?
Ans. Yes, the college provides a mess facility for students. The mess fee is INR 10,000 per semester. Apart from mess the college has a canteen facility.

Course Curriculum Overview:
I always choose electrical engineering as my first choice. I love this branch as it is the branch which gives the power to the world. It teaches us how power us generated transmitted and distributed among the consumers. Exam held every 6months as semester exam.
Placement Experience:
After 7th sem you can sit for campus interview and some companies may allow backlog with previous semester. Tata motors, wood, Atlas copco , amazon and many other companies have done their interview. Our course name is B. Tech. Every student try to Graduate. If i talking about course of our college. Those lab equipment, staff, professor are quite good for teaching every facility is up to the mark.

If i compre to other government college with placement then in our college placement is not good. In our college need to upgrades placement faculty and process. Name of company visited in our college is LNT, ADANI, TCS, INFOSYS, WIPRO etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:
I'm an electrical engineering student in this college. And this is the hardest branch among all branches of engineering but if you have interests in this field you will enjoy this course. I'm a lateral student and in diploma also I have electrical engineering. You have a plenty of career opportunities after btech in electrical engineering. In my college the department is very good. Faculties are experienced and they teach us the subjects very well. Exams are semester based in one year 2 semester. And there are 4 internals every semester.
Placement Experience:
As the college is new and I'm a 2nd year lateral student i have not much idea about placements. But the placement is average. TP cell is very much active to improve campus placement. But the academic system is very good so students can get job easily even without campus placement. I came to know from one of my senior that 7lakhs per annum is the highest package form the college. I planned to give GATE exam after getting my degree.
