I chose B.Tech in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation engineering because this branch teaches us about electronics and instruments which is our future also. Faculty is to student ratio is average which is almost 1:20. Faculty members here are very well qualified and almost everyone has a Ph.D. degree. They use both conventional and modern methods for teaching. Exams here are conducted regularly and are moderately difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Computer Science and Engineering of Haldia Institute of Technology is one of the best branches. I had a keen interest in the field of computers so I opt for it. There are very good faculty in the CSE dept., and most of them are passed out from different NIT or IIITs having Ph.D. in their field. Most of the professors are very good in their field and are part of some research work. I found them helpful in need always. 200 students are divided into 3 sections for theory classes and divided into 6 groups for Laboratory classes. Apart from the end-semester exam 3 class tests and 2 lab exams are there. Class tests are not very difficult as topics discussed in class are there in question. If someone stays in touch for the semester they can score 8.5+ cgpa.

Haldia Institute of Technology - [HIT]: 48 answered questions

Ques
Is Haldia Institute of Technology good for CSE in comparison with VIT Vellore or other colleges?

● Top Answer By Suraj Upadhay on 22 Mar 22

Ans
CSE from VIT Vellore is the better option. In fact, after IIITs and BITS, it is considered best for the CS domain.  If you have a good command over Data Structure, Algorithm Design, and a bit of competitive coding, you can easily bag lucrative salary packages from reputed companies like Cisco, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc. According to the placement highlights of recent years, VIT Vellore CSE average CTC stays around INR 7 LPA.

Ques
How is the CSE department at Haldia Institute of Technology? What about its faculty and placement in recent times?

● Top Answer By Himani Roy on 08 Apr 21

Ans
Haldia Institute of Technology will be of no help to you if you dream to be the best at coding and be proud of yourself as a CSE graduate in the future. When it comes to placement, it is good. But, if you consider your learning and look at the knowledge that you acquire in four years, you will not be satisfied. Teaching is an art and most of the teachers lack this art at HIT. And, the rest are average. One of my friends attended HIT. During his time, the algorithm which is one of the most important topics was taught by a well-qualified professor. But, due to a lack of the art of teaching, the students lost interest in the subject. Lab classes are under par. The lab assistant throws tantrums as if he is the dean of the college. Also, most of the teachers are alumni of the college. You won’t find the academic environment very encouraging.  No exposure. Even if it has been more than 15 years of the establishment of the college, it has failed to foresee Wipro, TCS, Infosys, CTS, and Tech Mahindra. This is quite unfair to the students who deserve more. The CSE department has talented students but the teachers, who shape these minds don’t put in the required effort. Despite all these, the students have made it to fortune 500 companies such as SAP Labs, Broadcom, Intel Security, Manhattan Associates. All the credits go to their hark-work and sheer determination. College gives you a degree, it is you who with your hard work and determination, will make a great CSE graduate.

Ques
What's the scope of Production Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology?

● Top Answer By Krunal Kumar on 22 Sept 21

Ans
My cousin is currently in the 2nd year of his production engineering course at Haldia Institute of Technology. Here are some things I got to know from him. Positive aspects: The faculty members of the department of production engineering at Haldia are skilled and have years of experience. The curriculum for production engineering is very similar to that of mechanical engineering. The students of the production engineering department are eligible to appear for the recruitment drives organized for the mechanical engineering department. If you are interested in appearing for the GATE examination through PE or ME papers, It would be a good decision at least in my opinion. The candidates are required to study subjects from the domain of management which offers several advantages, unlike the mechanical department. Negative aspects: You should not expect a lot about the placement scenario for core companies as most probably you would get employed by IT companies. If you prepare and appear for PE GATE examinations then you only would be eligible for admission at IITs or NITs. There are very few PSUs that accept candidates from production engineering. If you don’t have an interest in Mechanical Engineering subjects and topics then I would advise you to not opt for this branch at Haldia Institute of Technology.

Ques
How is Haldia Institute of Technology for Civil Engineering?

● Top Answer By Rana Mukesh Singh on 16 Sept 21

Ans
Haldia Institute of Technology has a decent infrastructure and a highly experienced faculty to impart the best of knowledge and practical learning for civil engineering. Regarding placement opportunities at this institute, you will need to score exceptionally good marks in GATE. Their GATE rank would determine the opportunities and placements in the corporate sector. Apart from the GATE rank, your technical knowledge, aptitude, and skills would give you an edge during campus recruitment. According to the recent placement highlights the average and highest CTC offered was 3.5 LPA and 24 LPA. Do not go for Software Companies once you are done with Civil Engineering as you would have to venture into alien fields of learning for acquiring related knowledge and expertise. Instead, go for companies that suit your course of study and would help you gain better experiences.

Ques
Which will be better for CSE, GCECT or Haldia Institute of Technology?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Bhandari on 22 Sept 21

Ans
HIT is a private college whereas GCECT is a government college. Following are the points of differentiation between both colleges: GCECT has comparatively very less fees which almost amount to INR 10,000 per semester and the fees for HIT approximately go up to INR 50,000 per semester. GCECT is an autonomous institute which means that the evaluation is done on the campus. However, on the other hand, Haldia Institute of Technology is affiliated with MAKAUT.  For CSE, GCECT has great labs that are very poorly maintained and the faculty is also not so impressive. It has a poor infrastructure when compared to HIT.  Both the colleges have almost the same average placement rates which range from 4 to 5 lakhs per annum. More service-based companies visit HI. GCECT has no on-campus placement drive and it jointly organizes placements. There is the same amount of competition. The companies still take a good amount of students from one college campus rather than multiple campuses. You can go to Haldia Institute of Technology if fee structure is not an issue. It will offer you great exposure when compared to a government institute.

Ques
What is management quota fees in Haldia Institute Technology for CSE?

● Top Answer By Shrayashee Roy on 15 Sept 21

Ans
Information regarding management quota fees is not disclosed by the institute. However, according to some of my friends who acquired admissions in the institute through it, the fees of management quota are around 2 lacs- 2.5 lacs. The management quota fees are dependent on your negotiator, agent, consultant too. The above-mentioned amount does not include the hostel fees. It is at the time of college fees payment that the students are required to pay the hostel fees. You should consult with your seniors as they have a better knowledge regarding such matters. Although they would suggest that it would be a waste of money. If you are interested in software, only then you should take admission at Bangalore. A few esteemed software companies such as Wipro, Infosys, etc. visit for the recruitment process. The chemical branch at the institute is terrific. You should look into this course once as well. Your decision is concerned with building your career therefore make sure you opt for a course that would not make you have regrets later.

Ques
Which is the most convenient girl's hostel at Haldia Institute of Technology?

● Top Answer By Ronit Sinha on 15 Sept 21

Ans
The most expedient girls’ hostel at Haldia Institute of Technology is Begum Ruqaiya. Students refer to it as BR hostel. It is a first-year hostel for girls. It is a decent hostel that does not make students sacrifice their fun or freedom. However, there are certain strict rules that need to be obeyed. After 7:30 the students are not allowed to leave the hostel. Not following these rules results in serious repercussions. You can play indoor games as well as badminton till midnight. Befriending new people, bonding with roommates for the four years of your hostel life definitely brings in new surprises and fun.  Even the food is quite edible. Better than the food served in Matangani. After the end of your first year, you would have to vacate it for your juniors and shift to another hostel that is Matangani.

Ques
Will I get into the Heritage Institute of Technology with a 20k rank in the WBJEE?

● Top Answer By Ajita Roy Chowdhury on 22 Sept 21

Ans
The rankings depend on the recently produced cut off by the institute, so as to process admission. By the rank you have secured, it is quite apparent that you can get an admission seat for the Biotechnology branch.  Here is a breakdown of the cut-off (opening and closing) recently produced by the institute. Courses General - Outside Home State General - Home State B.Tech in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering 4427 5107 9550 9695 B.Tech in Biotechnology Engineering 8873 4928 16402 16692 B.Tech in Chemical Engineering 4284 991 12972 12425 B.Tech in Civil Engineering 1294 7052 14319 14044 B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering 349 523 3434 3389 B.Tech in Electrical Engineering 2078 3579 7299 7325 B.Tech in Information Technology 2900 3006 4254 4236 However, at times, it can take you until the last round to get shortlisted. In any case, it is generally difficult for a general student to acquire admission at Heritage Institute of Technology with a rank of 20,000. But, it is best that you still research more about the latest cut-off trends.

Ques
What is the chance for getting refund admission fees from Haldia Institute of Technology?

● Top Answer By Dipanshu Sharma on 22 Sept 21

Ans
You can get your admission fee back as a refund after giving a proper application to step down from the admission process. Haldia Institute of Technology also follows this.  It’s just a matter of how much time it is going to take. You need to keep documents like the receipt for the first semester, clearance certificate, and ID proof handy with you. These documents can be submitted to the finance or the accounts office of the Institute. This process can be done online too. Since last year Haldia Institute of Technology has been transferring back the refund for the admission fee through NEFT. The transfer mostly happens on the same day when the refund application is submitted.  It must be noted that the college will deduct an amount of 2000 Rupees as admission processing fees.
