Ghani Khan Choudhury Institute of Engineering & Technology (GKCIET), was established in 2010 in Malda as an autonomous body, fully funded by the MHRD. GKCIET Malda offers 5 Diploma courses and 3 Bachelor of Technology programs. The 4-year B.Tech programs of the Institute are affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), and 3-year diploma programs are affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCT&VE&SD), Kolkata. Admission to each program at the college is entrance-based. The Entrance Exams considered for admission include JEE Mains, WBJEE, JEXPO and GKCIET Entrance Test. In case of Lateral Entry, i.e., admission directly to the 2nd year of B.Tech and Diploma programs is considered through the JELET and VOCLET counseling, respectively at present.

GKCIET Admissions
Admissions to courses done on the basis of merit in the entrance exams. Admissions to the B.Tech programs are done through the following examinations:
- Candidates of West Bengal applying to B.Tech programs are required to give the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), and admissions will be based on the WBJEE Counselling.
- Candidates of other states excluding West Bengal applying to B.Tech programs are required to give Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE), and admissions will be based on the CSAB/ JoSSA Counselling
- Candidates of West Bengal applying to Diploma Programmes are required to give the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics West Bengal (JEXPO) and admissions will be based on the counseling of the same.
- Candidates of other states excluding West Bengal applying to Diploma Programmes are required to give the GKCIET Entrance Test (GET).

GKCIET Cutoff 2024
GKICET B.Tech admission is based on merit in JEE Main followed by JoSAA counselling. GKICET B.Tech cutoffs are released on the JoSAA portal after each round of counselling in the form of opening and closing ranks. Usually, JEE Main cutoffs are released in 6 rounds on the JoSAA portal and the last two cutoffs are released for the supernumerary seats on the CSAB portal. GKICET JEE Main Cutoff 2024 for B.Tech CSE is 33330 – 42723 (Other States) & 62873 – 96663 (Home State) in round 1 for general category students.

Some of the scholarships that students of GKCIET can apply to include:
- Aikashree: It is provided by the West Bengal Minorities' Development & Finance Corporation and Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department. The applicant must have scored at least 50% in the previous examination and the annual income of the family should not exceed 2 lakhs per annum.
- Oasis: It is provided by the Backward Classes Welfare Department or Tribal Development Department and the Govt. Of West Bengal.
- Kanyashree: It is provided by the Government of West Bengal. It provides a One-Time Grant of Rs.25,000/- to girls who are 18-19 years old, unmarried and have a family income less than 1.2 lakhs per annum.
- Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means: This is provided by the government of West Bengal. The upper ceiling for family income has been fixed at Rs.2,50,000/- per annum. Candidates opting for these scholarships and found eligible, will not be allowed to enjoy any other governmental (central/state) scholarship or stipend for the same course/stage of study.
- Chief Minister Relief Fund: It is provided by the Nabanna Scholarship WB CMO Chief Minister Relief Fund West Bengal.
GKCIET Hostel
The Institute is constructing Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel inside the campus. Construction work is going on in full swing and is expected to be completed by July 2020. The G+3 Boys Hostel will have 109 rooms with twin- and triple- sharing rooms with accommodation capacity of around 267 students. Similarly the G+3 Girls Hostel will also be accommodating around 260 students.
GKCIET Facilities
Some of the facilities include:
- The Central Library: The library has a total of 1300 titles, 9000 volumes and 5000 sq. ft. It is the only library in North Bengal region under CFTI, which facilitates research and higher learning by providing books, journals and other documents to the teachers, research scholars and students.
- Transport Facility: The institute provides bus facility from Malda Town from two pick up points - Rathbari and Arabinda Park (Archana Chatrabas). Two buses start at 8:10 am and 8:00 am respectively for the up journey towards College and reach college at around 8:40 am. The buses are of 50 capacities each. The buses start their down journey with the students at 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm respectively.
- Medical Facilities: The institute has a Medical officer having M.B.B.S degree appointed for the job and also has a MoU with Moulik Nursing Home located nearby which is there to assist in case of emergency for 24 hours.
