Haldia Institute of Technology is the first institute established in West Bengal in the year 1996 and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is an institute of ICARE.
The college is affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and it is accredited to National Assessment and Accreditation (NAAC) with an “A” grade.
Among all the engineering colleges in the country, the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) has ranked the institute 174.
