Sardar Patel Institute of Technology BE Admission 2023

For admission to B.Tech program offered by Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT), candidate should have completed 10+2/HSC with science subjects i.e. Physics, Mathematics and any of the following subjects - Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology with a minimum of 50% marks.

Candidate should have valid score in MHT-CET conducted by DTE or JEE Main, conducted by CBSE. Such candidates will be allotted seats through Centralized Admission Process (CAP) conducted by DTE Maharashtra.

SPIT offers M.Tech course in two disciplines along with MCA degree course at PG level. Candidates seeking admission to M.Tech course must possess a BE/ B.Tech degree in relevant discipline with at least 50% marks. Selection of candidates to the M.Tech courses is done on the basis of GATE score and it is mandatory for candidates to have a positive score in GATE.

Candidates applying for MCA course should have passed minimum three-year duration Bachelor’s Degree course with at least 50% marks. Candidate should also have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at (10+2) level or graduate level examination. Candidate should possess valid MAH-MCA-CET scores.

In case of MCA admissions, all seats are filled by the Central Admission Process (CAP).
20% of the total seats in M.Tech course are filled at the institute level by the college itself, rest 80% of the seats are allotted through CAP.
SC/ST category students are provided a relaxation of 5% in the eligibility criteria of qualifying examination.

In addition to UG and PG courses, SPIT also offers Ph.D degree in 4 disciplines and the minimum eligibility criteria is that the candidate should have at least 55% aggregate marks in the Master’s degree. Candidates who have passed M.Phil degree course with at least 55% marks are also eligible.

Candidates are required to appear for PET (Ph.D. entrance test) conducted by the University of Mumbai in order to be eligible for selection.
If a candidate is qualified in GATE examination, he/she is exempted from appearing in the test.
Eligible candidates shall be given provisional admission only after undergoing centralized interview by a panel at the College/Institute/University/Department.

Candidates who have passed the Master’s degree partly by Papers and partly by Research with 55% marks and has obtained clearing grade in thesis (Wherever awarded) will be eligible for registration for the Ph.D. degree.

Ph.D. program offered by SPIT is available only in full-time.
For SC/ST students, there is a relaxation of 5% in the required qualifying marks.

For MHT CET registration

Candidates have to fill the online application form through the DTE Maharashtra website. Application fees can be paid online only by Internet Payment, Credit Card/ Debit Card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile

Application fees is INR 800 for General candidates belonging to Maharashtra as well as other states. For other category students, the application fee is INR 600. Upon successful payment, candidate shall take the print out of MHT-CET Registration Confirmation.

For BE, ME and MCA program

For admission to institute level seats (20% of total seats) under BE and ME course, candidates should submit the application form along with the processing fee of INR 1500. Candidates seeking admission to BE course have to register for counseling process through DTE Maharashtra website upon paying application fee of INR 800 for general candidates of Maharashtra as well as other states and INR 600 for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

For admission to ME and MCA through entrance exams, candidates can register through the DTE website. Candidates who have already registered for MAH-MCA-CET are not required to pay any fees.

Candidates can fill the online application form, scan and upload the required documents without any charges at the nearest facilitation center.

Qualifying Examination mark sheet.

For Ph.D program

Applications form for Ph.D course can be obtained from the college, filled and submitted against payment of INR 500 in cash. Application forms can also be downloaded through the college website.

What is better between an engineering degree from Mumbai University or from any autonomous institute like VJTI, KJ Somaiya or SPIT?

You may have confused SPIT (Sardar Patel Institute of Technology) with SPCE (Sardar Patel College of Engineering). SPIT is not an autonomous institute. The courses offered in SPIT are Computers, IT, Electronics, and Electronics and Telecom.

Deciding Factors:

If you are looking for any particular program, then you should narrow down your choice of college based on courses. If you are more college-driven then you should go through the following points to make the right decision.

First, you should ask yourself about what do you want out of your engineering degree, whether it is academics, extracurricular, or co-curricular.
Also, it depends on your future goals. Whether you want good placements, seek higher education, or go for start-ups.

VJTI:

Considering all the factors, VJTI is the best option.

It is an autonomous college with a strong foundation. It also has a broad alumni base.
All these factors result in better internship opportunities, better placing companies, and a better network in education.
For extracurriculars, most of the engineering colleges in Mumbai offer almost the same opportunities. However, Thandomal, DJSCOE, and RAIT offer mesmerizing events. However, since extracurricular is not the sole factor of consideration, VJTI will be sufficient.

If you get admission to VJTI you should definitely opt for it. You should consider what course you are choosing and research about the facilities and placements. For example, CS at SPIT has better placement than ME at VJTI or any of the other colleges mentioned here.

Also, autonomous colleges have better administration in MU. They have a better examination schedule, quick result release and you will have higher chances of securing a good CGPA.

Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT) is affiliated to the University of Mumbai, It is one of the best engineering colleges in the country providing high-quality education. It is ranked 125 for BTech by NIRF 2020. It offers degree program Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ETC).

The Ramdeobaba College of Engineering ECE department was established in the year 2001. Its student intake is 120, this is preferred by central students. It is ranked 113 for BTech by NIRF 2020.

Admission Requirements

Candidates should have 60% in their 10+2 qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is compulsory.
