VGSoM at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur conducts a rigorous interview process as part of its admission criteria for MBA and other management programs. Here are some things to expect during the VGSoM interview:
Overall, the VGSoM interview is designed to assess your communication skills, analytical thinking, and suitability for the management program. It is essential to be well-prepared and confident during the interview to make a good impression on the interviewers.
For an MBA in Marketing, IIM Udaipur is a better option than IIT Kharagpur. Being an IIM, it offers a more suitable environment for management studies. The faculties are the best in their field. IIM Udaipur placements are great. The placement average is around 100%. The batch of 2022 received an average CTC of around INR 17.5 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 35 LPA. The return on investment for IIM U is decent.
IIT KGP is mostly known as a technical institute, for an MBA, IIM Udaipur is better.
When it comes to choosing between IMT Ghaziabad and VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur for a management program, it is important to consider the specific strengths of each institution. IMT Ghaziabad is well-known for its marketing program and has a strong network of alumni in the corporate world. On the other hand, VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur is known for its operations management program and has a strong reputation as an institution of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
It's important to note that while IITs may not have the same level of business school experience as some other institutions, they are renowned for their strength in certain areas of study, such as operations management. Additionally, VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur holds a good return on investment factor.
Ultimately, the choice between IMT Ghaziabad and VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur will depend on an individual's interests and career goals. If one is interested in marketing or other majors, then IMT Ghaziabad would be a good choice, and if one is interested in operations management, then VGSoM and IIT Kharagpur would be the better choice. Both institutions have their own unique strengths and reputations and ultimately, it's important to pick the one that aligns with your goals and interests.
When considering graduate business programs, it is important to weigh the various factors that may influence your decision. IIT Kharagpur's Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM) has a long legacy and robust alumni network, spanning over 25 years. In contrast, IIM Nagpur, a newer institution, has graduated only three batches so far. VGSoM also boasts a spacious campus of 2100 acres, while IIM Nagpur does not have its own campus.
While the fees for both programs are roughly the same, the average package at VGSoM is significantly higher at INR 19.36 LPA compared to INR 13.21 LPA at IIM Nagpur. However, IIM Nagpur does offer a unique opportunity for students to spend one trimester at IIM Ahmedabad and receive mentorship from the institution's faculty. Additionally, for some individuals, the IIM tag may hold additional prestige.
It's worth noting that the IIM tag is highly respected for older IIMs and certain regional campuses such as IIM Trichy, IIM Udaipur, and IIM Ranchi. However, for baby IIMs like IIM Nagpur, the tag may not hold as much weight when compared to an esteemed institution like VGSoM which holds the IIT tag and offers an MBA program that is semester based, while IIM Nagpur offers a trimester-based postgraduate program.
When it comes to choosing a business school, the competition is fierce and the options can be overwhelming. Three institutes that are considered to be among the top in the country are the Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM) at IIT Kharagpur, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi, and the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS).
If you are interested in an operations profile, then VGSOM is a great choice. It is considered to be one of the best institutes in the country for operations specialization, after NITIE. Additionally, the return on investment (ROI) is high. IIM Ranchi, on the other hand, may have a lower average package compared to the other two institutes, but it has the prestige of the IIM tag and a decent profile. The hostels are also fabulous, with single rooms available for students.
NMIMS is considered to be more costly and the batch strength is over 500 students. The top 150-200 students get superb packages and roles that are at par with other top B-schools, however, the next lot of students may have a lot of start-ups, etc. If you want to play safe, VGSOM or IIM Ranchi might be the best option.
However, if you are willing to take a risk, NMIMS might be a good choice as the profiles there are really good. It's ultimately up to you to decide which institute aligns best with your career goals and objectives. Rest assured, whichever institute you choose, you will be choosing a great institution as all three are among the top institutes in the country.
VGSoM is a Business School, focused solely on offering full-time residential management degrees available in various streams, as opposed to NMIMS, which expands to offering UG, PG, and diploma degrees in law, Commerce, Engineering, Arts, and Science degrees to thousands of students each year.
