Ques
How is life after MBA from SIBM Pune and SCMHRD?

● Top Answer By Bharath Harish on 25 May 21

Ans
SIBM Pune features a fairly substantial reputation within the MBA league. My friends who have passed from this college have mostly ended up with very great jobs and work in the upper echelons in their respective workplaces. Of course, the law of average work at SIBM too, and here there are a few people who fall below the average expectations.  You will not get the coveted badge of an IIM or an ISB. That is something the pass outs of SIBM will have to live with. It does harm the chances sometimes in the corporate world but not necessarily. The table shows a brief overview of the institution: Particulars SIBM SCMHRD Highest CTC Rs. 34.2 lakhs Rs. 38 lakhs Average CTC Rs. 20.1 lakhs Rs. 15.60 lakhs Minimum CTC Rs. 18.50 lakhs Rs. 9 lakhs Symbiosis has several colleges which provide an MBA program SIBM, Pune doesn’t stand out much. To the outside world, the student is just from Symbiosis. This can be a bit of a problem for the pass outs of SIBM and SCMHRD since these two colleges are in the top 25 leagues in India.

Ques
Is it worth doing an MBA from SIBM Pune, SCMHRD Pune or NMIMS Mumbai after 2 years of job experience in IT?

● Top Answer By Soutrik Bose on 17 May 21

Ans
Yes, it’s worth it. In some cases, it is even essential to do an MBA after having 2 years of work experience in IT.  There are different kinds of people in IT sectors, some who like the technicalities of IT and some don't like that. People who like the technicalities of IT will settle in just a couple of years by learning to code brilliantly and achieve their goals.  Other people are just the opposite; they are always left feeling that they are missing something. MBA adds value to your resume and helps you to change your career.  I know a few people from SIBM Pane, so I can tell you about the MBA program offered by them.  My friends at the institute have peers who come with work experience in the IT sector and are going to be working in big FMCG brands in the summers.  SIBM Pune had an average CTC of around 20.14 LPA. The average internship stipend offered in the summer internship for 2018-20 was around 1.66 lacs for just two months and above 55% of students got offers for 1.5 lacs around. The highest stipend offered was 3 lacs.  Also, MBA can be a much-needed break for many with corporate careers. It’s a fun experience, you will get to learn a lot through many corporate interactions.

Ques
How good is SCMHRD for MBA in finance?

● Top Answer By Piyush Malawat on 23 Apr 21

Ans
One of my relatives who used to be a student of SCMHRD feels that the course is directly proportional to the quality or effort of the students who are a part of it. He has shed some light on the following: Academics: The course curriculum can be a tad gruesome and it has more to do with finance as all the students are prepared to tough it out in finance. They will take some other specialization if not finance. So he advises the students and would-be students to prepare themselves. The course structure is similar to the standards of the industry and also on equal footing with other colleges of repute. Placements: Major banks like ICICI, Citibank, AXIS, HDFC, etc come to the institute for placements. They may offer positions like relationship managers or credit analysis, etc. They can also offer positions like equity research in HSBC, verity solutions, credit analysis in JPMC, DE Shaw, etc. You will be able to choose from a wide range of domains. Faculty: One of the teachers was CFA/FRM qualified. She had completed her CA, MBA, Ph.D., and was a banker. Background: Most of the candidates are from an engineering background. Some are from the CA background, BBA, and also from the commerce background. The institute also provides a good platform for appearing in various events of the institute and corporate events. It can be a good way to stand out from the crowd.

Ques
Which programme is better, NICMAR (advanced construction management) or SCMHRD (infrastructure management)?

● Top Answer By Pooja Arora on 15 Sept 22

Ans
SCMHRD Infrastructure Management is better. The institute is widely recognized in the industry and ranks among the top B-Schools in the country. In this Infrastructure Management course, you will get to learn in detail about infrastructure policies, contract management, project finance, and other aspects of infrastructure such as airways, roads, rails, ports, urban development, renewable energy, etc. You will get to choose project execution or project finance according to your expertise.  100% of MBA IM students get placed each year. SCMHRD average package is around INR 6-8 LPA. Fortress Financial Services, ABPS Infrastructure, Capgemini, etc. were among the major recruiters.

Ques
Is it worth doing an MBA from Indian B-schools like SCMHRD or JBIMS or will I always be inferior to those from top IIMs or XLRI?

● Top Answer By Anamika Ghose on 18 Aug 22

Ans
Doing an MBA from top IIMs and XLRI have its advantages. These are the best management schools in the country and offer excellent career opportunities and exposure. But it doesn’t necessarily mean pursuing an MBA from JBIMS will not be worth the investment. It ranks right after IIM ABC, XLRI, and FMS. It has maintained a stellar placement record over the years. JBIMS placements 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 27.63 LPA. The return on investment is great. SCMHRD isn’t as reputed as JBIMS. But it is also a good B-School with decent placement record. The average CTC for SCMHRD is around INR 16 LPA.

Ques
What is the scope of management consulting at B Schools like NMIMS, SIBM, SCMHRD and XIMB? Do non-engineers, freshers get such roles?

● Top Answer By Soumika Ghosal on 17 Apr 21

Ans
This would certainly not be easy for a non-engineer fresher to get management consulting roles in firms such as Accenture, McKinsey, Deloitte, EY, Capgemini etc. Most of the above companies provide IT consulting, operations consulting, risk consulting, etc. at these institutes. You may expect these profiles.  However, if you are looking for strategic consulting, then these roles are offered at only top B-schools such as IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, XLRI, FMS, SPJIMR Mumbai, etc. Do not expect them to be offered at the listed institutes here. Even if some companies do offer such roles, they care about your academics in your MBA, your work experience, your personality, and your background. They want to know if you are an engineer or not, they also want to know if you know about IT or not. There are various rounds of interviews lined up to test your skills and abilities. So, yes there will be scope especially in IT consulting roles from these institutes. All you have to do is give your best efforts and leave the rest on the companies to decide what kind of professional they want.

Ques
Which is better, NMIMS HR or SCMHRD-MBA in Business Analytics?

● Top Answer By Bhaskar Trivedi on 23 Apr 21

Ans
Someone I know who is an alumnus of SCMHRD has said that finding out which college is better will bear little to no fruits.  You can get in touch with the professionals from both programs and try to understand what you will have to do in order to make a name for yourself. An internal analysis is involved after which it is gauged what field would be the most suitable for you. NMIMS is popular for producing marketing professionals. Finance is also popular in the institute. Analytics is not the flagship course of SCMHRD. They are very different courses and your temperament and aptitude are also contributing factors.

Ques
Which one is better, IMT Ghaziabad (marketing) or SCMHRD (business analytics)?

● Top Answer By Sidhharth Jain on 16 Feb 23

Ans
In a post-graduation program in management, IMT Ghaziabad is generally considered to be a better-known and recognized brand than SCMHRD (Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development). This is due to a number of factors, such as the institute's reputation for providing students with a strong foundation in management through its curriculum, industry-relevant courses, and practical training. Additionally, the institute's alumni network of industry leaders can help students to secure internships and job opportunities post-graduation. IMT Ghaziabad is particularly well-known for its marketing program, which is considered to be one of the best in the country. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of marketing, such as consumer behavior, market research, and branding. Additionally, the institute's focus on providing students with practical training through internships, industry projects, and case studies, helps students to develop the skills and knowledge needed to excel in a career in marketing. On the other hand, SCMHRD also offers a strong program in management, but it might not be as recognized as IMT Ghaziabad, specifically in Marketing. Additionally, SCMHRD offers a course in Business Analytics which is considered a niche course, and it's not as widely offered as Marketing at different B-schools. It's important to research the different options available and weigh the pros and cons of each institute. Researching the institute's curriculum, faculty, and alumni network, as well as speaking to current students and alumni can help you to make an informed decision. Additionally, it would be a good idea to seek the opinion of professionals in the field you are interested in, as they can provide valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of different career paths. It's also important for you to decide whether you want to join a niche course that you are passionate about or a more general one.
