The course curriculum has been updated now and then. New courses like Technology product management were added recently to term 5 of the curriculum. The faculty are competent enough to teach the subjects, and some in-house and visiting faculties are very good. Most of the visiting faculties are in the second year, specific to each course, and they are good at these courses. Faculty included are well qualified and either hold good positions at different companies or have done PhDs from some of the old IIMs and established B-schools of the country like ISB, MDI, etc. Exams are easy to pass, considering you listen and understand things in the course taught by the faculty.

Ques
Are the six newest IIMs a good option? (i.e., IIM Nagpur, Vizag, Amritsar, Sirmaur, Bodhgaya, Sambalpur)

● Top Answer By Ashmita Mukharjee on 29 Apr 22

Ans
It depends on your profile. If you are a general category student with good academic records - more than 85 percent throughout 10th, 12th, and graduation, then old IIMs will be better.  If you aren’t getting the old IIMs, you can consider new IIMs like IIM Nagpur, Sambalpur, Vizag, Amritsar, Sirmaur, and Bodhgaya. Being part of any recently established institute is a different experience altogether. You will get to set the culture on campus which your juniors will inherit. These baby IIMs have decent placements. You will get placement opportunities through campus drive if you have a good academic record. Here are the average CTC statistics for these IIMs. Institute  Average CTC  IIM Nagpur  INR 15.21 LPA IIM Vizag INR 15.06 LPA IIM Amritsar INR 14.63 LPA IIM Sirmaur  INR 12.74 LPA IIM Bodhgaya  INR 12.36 LPA IIM Sambalpur  INR 12.64 LPA If you are willing to work hard and want to take advantage of opportunities that come with newly established institutes, then you should join these new IIMs.

Ques
Is it true that after IIM, Nagpur is also going to have AIIMS and IIIT (Indian Institute of Information Technology)?

● Top Answer By Arun Pal on 02 Jul 21

Ans
It indeed is. As far as AIIMS is concerned, a search for a suitable site for its construction is still going on. Once the authorities come across such a site they feel is right, it would be worked upon right away. For the institute to get functional in real terms, it would take around a good whole 4 to 5 years. If I talk about IIIT, the situation is similar to the one I have mentioned for AIIMS. The construction can be a bit jittery initially. So, you can anticipate that the location would soon be finalized so that people get to work on it. The Central Government had already passed a proposal for the construction of AIIMS at least two years back, but it was on halt because of the State Government's refusal initially. There wasn't any action taken up to a stretch of 9 months. Finally, because of the efforts laid by the contemporary government, these files of the institute's construction were moved after 9 months.

Ques
My Brother got a call from IIM Nagpur and Jamnalal Bajaj for MBA. What should he do?

● Top Answer By Alapon Mitra on 30 Mar 22

Ans
Your brother should choose Jamnalal Bajaj for MBA. JBIMS follows a better pedagogy for MBA. It is an old reputed management institute with a large alumni base. You can get a lot of advantages from their strong alumni network. The institute has a decent placement record. During the 2021 placement drive, the mean CTC offered to students was INR 23.16 LPA.

Ques
Which is better, IIM Nagpur or IMI Delhi, both for PGP and PGDM courses respectively?

● Top Answer By Hardik Nagar on 30 Jan 23

Ans
As a prospective MBA student, you might be considering both IIM Nagpur and IMI Delhi as options for your studies. While IIM Nagpur is a newer institute, it does carry the IIM brand, which could be beneficial for your future career prospects. On the other hand, IMI Delhi has a long history and has consistently been ranked as a top business school.  IMI Delhi would be a better choice due to its strong connections with the corporate world and the location advantage it offers. Ultimately, the decision of which institute to attend will depend on your individual goals and priorities.

Ques
Which college should I choose between XIMB and IIM Nagpur?

● Top Answer By Jayant Thakur on 30 Jan 23

Ans
You might want to consider XIMB for your MBA studies because they have a stronger brand presence and a larger alumni network compared to IIMN. While IIMN is a newer institute and has seen rapid growth in recent years, it is still considered a tier 2 college in the business school market, whereas tier 1 status is reserved for the top 15 colleges. While the quality of students at both XIMB and IIMN may be similar, with a slight difference in percentile scores, both colleges have a lower representation of students from top undergraduate institutions such as IITs, NITs, and DU. XIMB has also established strong international relations with schools such as KEDGE and WARSAW Economics, which can be a valuable resource for students. While the return on investment for an MBA from XIMB may be lower compared to other schools, it is important to remember that an MBA is an investment in your future career. Additionally, XIMB has a strong faculty with a pool of experienced professors and also has to visit faculty from XLRI, which is part of the same Jesuit trust. Overall, it is important to choose wisely and consider all factors when deciding on an MBA program.

Ques
Is IIM Nagpur a better choice than SIBM Pune?

● Top Answer By Wriddhiman Saha on 30 Jan 23

Ans
IIM Nagpur recently concluded the final placements for the sixth batch of its flagship MBA program, reporting a 15% increase in average salary to Rs. 15.21 LPA for the 2020-22 batch. Despite an increase in tuition for the 2022-24 batch, the 2-year program fees remain at Rs. 18 lakhs. The current batch, which was the first to experience a hybrid learning model, successfully completed campus placements virtually. IIM Nagpur attracted recruiters from a variety of sectors including consulting, BFSI, FMCG/FMCD, ITES, e-commerce, manufacturing, and logistics. Similarly, SIBM Pune, the flagship institute of Symbiosis International University, successfully completed its campus recruitment program for the 2020-2022 MBA flagship and leadership & strategy batch. The institute saw record numbers this year, with over 100 organizations participating in the recruitment drive across sectors such as automotive, BFSI, consulting, FMCG/FMCD, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, IT/ITES, and manufacturing, among others. This success can be attributed to the institute's student-driven culture, strong corporate engagement model, and rigorous academic program. According to the placement report for the 2021-22 batch, the institute saw a 49.77% increase in the highest salary, which stood at INR 45.5 LPA. The average salary for the batch was INR 23.06 LPA, with female students receiving an average of INR 24.81 LPA and male students receiving an average of INR 22.31 LPA. These figures demonstrate the strong performance of the batch in the job market and the value that employers place on the institute's graduates.

Ques
Which will be a better choice, IIM Nagpur or FMS in Delhi?

● Top Answer By Sagardeep on 09 Jan 23

Ans
FMS in Delhi is unquestionably a better choice than IIM Nagpur. FMS is compared to the older IIMs, specifically the top three. That's when there can a confusion as to which one to choose. IIM Nagpur, on the other hand, is a newer IIM, and despite the fact that it is an IIM, the very bright students would go there, and they will undoubtedly have a very good placement record, though we do not yet have enough data to validate this. And FMS is a well-known college, with statistics demonstrating its stellar campus placement record and exceptional alumni base. In addition, the Return on Investment (ROI) for FMS is higher because their tuition is lower than that of IIMs.

Ques
What is a better choice, take a job at Mu Sigma as a fresher or pursue an MBA at IIM Nagpur?

● Top Answer By Ananya Maurya on 30 Jan 23

Ans
It is important to make decisions about pursuing a postgraduate degree, such as an MBA, based on long-term goals and not just temporary emotions or the advice of others. It is also helpful to have a clear vision of where you want to be in 10 years, as the specific timing of when you obtain your degree may not be as significant as the institution you attended and whether or not you have achieved your desired career goals. If you are unsure of your long-term goals or what you want from life, it is a sign of maturity to recognize and accept this, as it is not uncommon for most people to discover their path through experiences and self-reflection. It is worth considering the potential drawbacks of pursuing a PGDM (postgraduate diploma in management) from a new institute such as IIM Nagpur. It may be more difficult for students at new institutes to secure top jobs, especially as fresher. Additionally, students may not have as much flexibility in terms of choosing their preferred industry or profile and may have to accept positions with mass recruiters. In contrast, working for a company like Mu Sigma may provide the opportunity to gain exposure to diverse industries and a deeper understanding of the corporate world, as well as the chance to develop self-awareness through brainstorming sessions and project meetings. This may ultimately help you to determine your desired path, whether it be an MBA or a different field such as financial engineering or customer psychology.

Ques
Which one out of IIM Nagpur and IIM Vizag is preferable?

● Top Answer By Gopi Krishna Goyal on 30 Jan 23

Ans
As a current student at IIM Vizag, you can vouch for the fact that the institute has outperformed many of the newer IIMs despite being relatively young. The placement report available on the official website speaks to the confidence that the industry has in the institute and its students, and this is reflected in the strong job offers received by graduates. But beyond just looking at placement reports, it is important for MBA students to have exposure to real-world business problems, and IIM Vizag provides this through classroom discussions, guest lectures, business conclaves, and corporate competitions. In addition to academic pursuits, life at IIM Vizag is enriched by a range of festivals, celebrations, competitions, and cultural and sports events. Nurtured by its parent institute IIM Bangalore and supported by a talented faculty, IIM Vizag offers a vibrant and fulfilling experience for students, and if you are fortunate enough to be selected for the program, you can look forward to living and studying in the beautiful city of Visakhapatnam.

Ques
How are the placements at IIM Nagpur?

● Top Answer By Pragya Tripathi on 30 Jan 23

Ans
Whether or not it is a good idea to pursue a postgraduate degree at IIM Nagpur (or any other IIM) depends on the individual circumstances and alternatives available. Here are some general guidelines to consider: If you are a software engineer with a strong coding ability and the option to switch jobs, or if you are an engineer with a non-software job that pays more than INR 5 lakh per year, or if you have a degree from a top college in a city, you may want to consider skipping IIM Nagpur. If you have below-average academics and will not be able to secure a good job, or if you are an engineer in a core industry with a non-permanent job and a salary of around INR 2 lakh, you may want to consider attending IIM Nagpur. Keep in mind that companies from top industries may view IIM Nagpur graduates as inferior and may not consider them for certain positions. It is also worth considering the long-term career prospects of graduates from IIM Nagpur. Some may find that their peers who did not pursue an MBA are more successful in the job market, even if they have less education and experience. Lastly, be aware that starting salaries for IIM Nagpur graduates may be lower, and you may have to take on additional loans in order to afford the cost of education and maintain a certain lifestyle. These loans may take several years to pay off. In summary, if you are an engineer with a decent job, it may be best to avoid IIM Nagpur (and possibly other IIMs) unless you are confident that you can rank in the top 20% of the class. Otherwise, the time and money spent on an MBA may not be worth it in the long run.
