IIT Jammu MTech admissions are based on GATE Score followed by COAP counselling. For IIT Jammu MTech Admission 2024, GATE Registrations have started from August 30. The closing date of regular registration is October 12, 2023. Along with that, the deadline for extended online registration or application process (with late fee) is 20^th October, 2023. 

IIT Jammu offers MTech program in 6 different specialisations such as Tunnel Engineeirng, Data Science, Information Security, Communications and Signal Processing, Thermal & Energy System and Computer Technology. These courses are offered for a duration of 2 years seggregated into four semesters. IIT Jammu grants admission for its MTech program based on the performance in the GATE exam and COAP counselling process. The institute has participated till 10 rounds in COAP counselling 2023.

For IIT Jammu MTech admission, both Indian and foreign students can apply. It is mandatory for a foreign student to hold a first division/first-class degree in their bachelor’s and should have a confirm admission offer from Times/QS ranked foreign university. For Indian stduents, they must have a BTech or B.E. degree from a recognized university with a minimum 6.0 CGPA or 60% marks. Eligible candidates must qualify the GATE exam and further apply for IIT Jammu MTech program through the institute’s official website. Candidates will be charged an amount of Rs.300 for the application form.

The IIT Jammu M.Tech eligibility varies from course to course. Check the table below to know the detailed eligibility conditions for each specialization. 

For Foreign Candidates:

• It’s important for a foreign student to hold a first division/ first-class degree. 
• He/She must have a confirmed admission offer from a foreign university that ranked in Times/QS ranking.
• The foreign candidate should have obtained admission in B.Tech through JEE Mains or JEE Advanced. 

IIT Jammu MTech Admission

The candidates for the IIT Jammu M.Tech are selected based on GATE exam scores. Post that, the candidates will be required to appear in the technical round of written test and interview. IIT Jammu offers applications to be filled by the candidate in the online mode. Offline or physical copies of applications or any admission-related certificates are not required. Candidates who fulfill every aspect of the eligibility criteria can be admitted to IIT Jammu for the M. Tech course in their relevant departments. For availing IIT Jammu admission in M.Tech , candidates have to submit the application form online.

IIT Jammu MTech Selection Criteria

IIT Jammu selects candidates for final admission based on GATE scores, Marks in 10^th, 12^th, and Graduation. Each specialization has different percentage set for selection. 

Note: 5% relaxation is given in the percentage for SC and ST category students.

GATE 2023 COAP Registration Process

After passing the GATE entrance exam, candidates are to register for the COAP counseling process to secure their admission into IITs, NITs, and other participating institutes. COAP provides a common platform for the registered candidates to make the most preferred choice for admission into an M.Tech. Program in the participating Institutes. 

Eligibility Criteria to Register for COAP 2023

1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. Candidates should have a valid GATE score from 2023/2022/2021.

GATE 2023 COAP Step by Step Registration Process

The candidates can successfully apply for GATE COAP 2023 by simply following the below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of COAP @ coap.iitd.ac. and click on the registration link.

Step 2: Fill in details such as their GATE Registration Number, GATE Paper Code, GATE score, date of birth.

Step 3: Click on the “Validate” icon and enter the registered email id and mobile number.

Step 4:Click on the “Submit to Register” button.

Step 5: After the registration is successfully done for COAP 2023, the candidates will obtain a Login ID and Password for COAP Login. The same will be sent via Email and SMS.

Step 6: The COAP registration will only be considered as complete only if the candidates log in using the Login ID and Password and verify the registration details.

Step 7: After the completion of the above-given steps, the candidate can access the information on offers made from the participating Institutes.

Step 8: In the end, the admission offer will be uploaded at COAP website and will be tagged with COAP registration number (same as GATE registration number without subject code).

IIT Jammu MTech Cutoff

IIT Jammu GATE Cutoff 2023 will be released soon. The minimum GATE score required for Computer Technology, Data Science, and Information Security is 550+. For Communication and Signal processing, the candidate must score 500 marks in the GATE exam. There is no cutoff score released for the Tunnel Engineering course. Aspiring candidates need to have only a valid gate score for admission.
