Placement Experience:

From the 8th semester students become eligible for campus placements. I am not exactly sure how many companies visited the campus for placement but some of them are Motoroq, tcs, Accenture etc. Offers made by them are around 2000. The highest package offered last year was 1.3 Cr and the average package is around 5 lakhs. I am looking forward to campus placement after getting the degree.

Remarks:

There is an entrance exam for admission to VIT called VITEEE and along with it you must have a minimum aggregate of 65% in your respective board in your class 12. I found this application form on the web while searching for engineering entrance exams and the fee for the application was 1350 in our time and was held in April. Yes, I would entertain any scholarships for my coming year's admission fees.

Placement Experience:

The placement of my college is good. Students from semester 6th onwards are eligible for placements. Microsoft, Wells Fargo, and visa are some of the super dream companies that come for recruitment on campus.

Remarks:

There was an entrance exam VITEEE. The questions were of easy to moderate level. The application form can be found on their official site. All 12th passes are eligible for this examination. The admission has been easy.

Placement Experience:

I don't know much about placements cause I didn't apply for them, for those who applied maximum students got placed in the IT sector. Core jobs are for my batch of students. Many companies visited. My plan is to gain some experience and improve my skills and pursue a master's.

Remarks:

There is an entrance exam. For those who took integrated courses direct admission was based on previous qualifications at that time. Based on ranking there are reservations. There is no caste reservation type that's the good thing.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am very interested in computer science and hence opted for this course. the faculty is not that great but the syllabus and curriculum are good. They can make it more practical rather than a full theory course. and the credit system could be a bit more flexible.

Remarks:

The admission process was one of the easiest yet most confusing ones I've done. It had multiple steps before the final admission, and multiple levels of orientation based on your rank. eligibility was that we had to have passed 12th grade from any board. I was writing it under general class and hence dont know many details about reservation but im aware it exists. The admission process I think is suitable for the college's reputation and wouldn't want any changes.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum and all educative details will be provided in a student portal called "VTOP" you can login as admin, student, parent alumni, etc. There you will find the course list, during inaugration week they will provide you credentials and full course list, and after every semester they will revise courses that are available for that semester and provide it to students. The course selection process is unique in vit, we have to create our own timetable with the given teachers for the course-list they provide, in a way it is advantageous for day-scholars to choose and opt to head out earlier from college, and hostellers can adapt easily to whatever time they want. Faculties are full and full dependant on reviews in our college, we have lists of teachers as good/bad/average, we rank them on the basis of class average and teaching strictness and you can hear them from your peers and seniors, discuss and choose the faculty. The teaching quality wise it is decent.

Remarks:

I wrote my VITEEE exam on 20th June 2021, the syllabus was listed as important topics highlighted in Maths,Physics, Chemistry and a mock test was conducted before. They gave categories according to the rank list that will be released, that is, higher your rank more the scholarship fees. During my admission time the fees were structured at 1L 2L 3L 4L (L- Lakhs) for rank groups, i secured a rank of 53,402 and got into B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering Core, due to the extreme demand I was only able to go for category 3. There were several other branches which I got at 2L category but still I went for CSE Core. There is a special scholarship admission process for underpriveleged people called the STARS program as well, and the normal admission process was only via VITEEE the entrance exam. The form details, everything will be available all over google, etc but main source is vit.ac.in where you can find recent news, updates, etc regularly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose my course because I am passionate about computer science. The faculty-student ratio is about 1:70. Faculty are qualified. Teaching method varies from faculty to faculty. Term exams are held once per month and difficulty varies from course to course. But generally, they are moderately hard to pass.

Remarks:

Eligibility was 60% or above in all subjects of the CBSE 12 board exam. The application form, fees, and dates can be found on the official VIT website. The online admission process went smoothly in my case.

It is better to study at VIT Chennai. It is the best private institute in the region. VIT Chennai has an impressive placement record. During the 2022 placement drive, a total of 118 companies took part in the placement drive. The highest CTC offered this year was INR 75 LPA. If you are considering between BIT Mesra and VIT, here are some reasons why BIT Mesra is the better option:

  • Reputation: BIT Mesra is a highly reputable engineering college in India, and students work hard to get into it. In contrast, VIT is often considered a backup option by many students.
  • JEE Advanced Selection Ratio: BIT Mesra has a much higher ratio of students selected in JEE Advanced compared to VIT.
  • Infrastructure: BIT Mesra has good infrastructure with well-equipped labs, libraries, and sports facilities. The campus is spread over a large area with greenery all around.
  • Placement Records: BIT Mesra has an excellent track record of placements with top-notch companies visiting the campus every year. The average package offered to students is also higher compared to VIT.
  • Admissions: Admissions to BIT Mesra are based on merit of JEE Mains through JOSAA's counseling, whereas VIT conducts its own entrance exam. The JEE Main rank is considered more prestigious than VITEEE.
  • Faculty: BIT Mesra has a good faculty with experienced professors who are experts in their respective fields.

BIT Mesra is a better option than VIT for pursuing an engineering degree. With a higher selection ratio in JEE Advanced, good infrastructure, excellent placement records, and experienced faculty, BIT Mesra provides a better overall learning experience.

IET Lucknow is better. Being a Govt. institute it charges a lower course fee. If you are planning on preparing for competitive examinations like CAT, GATE, GRE, etc. IET will be the right choice. The college schedule is flexible and leaves a lot of room for exploring other interests. Lucknow has good coaching institutes for competitive examinations. At IET, you will meet seniors who have qualified GATE, CAT, GRE, etc. They will be able to guide you regarding preparations.

VIT is better as it has more than 200 companies coming for CSE students. If the student wants to go into a college with better placements or better exposure.

The table shows a brief overview of the institution:

Particulars

PEC Chandigarh

VIT Chennai

Average Salary

Rs. 8-10 lakhs

Rs. 7.25 lakhs

Highest Salary

Rs. 45 lakhs

Rs. 41.6 lakhs

Entrance Criteria

JEE Main

VITEEE

Fees

Rs. 6.39 lakhs

Rs. 4.84-7.8 lakhs

  • The intake of students in VIT is not great as students above the rank of 2000 in VITEEE join some other colleges.
  • VIT has seats for merit up to only 6000 rank holders in CSE. Concluding only one thing that 80% of those 1300 VIT CSE students get through management quota. So, if the student is worthy then they will find themselves humiliated with children who come there through management quota.
  • That's why even if the student gets a lower branch in PEC, take it as PEC is the legacy of notable alumni and will continue to remain.
  • Unless you have a certain inclination towards some branch then do opt for PEC the student will never regret it.

It is not possible to decide your inclination just after completing 12th as there is plenty of knowledge awaiting. When you take a branch that you probably didn’t realize in school also the placements in PEC are nice now it is on par with VIT. Overall, PEC is the potential choice.

According to a senior of mine who has graduated from NIT Raipur, the institute is better than most top colleges in Bangalore including VIT institutes.

Despite having a soft spot for NIT Raipur, she does not discourage candidates from trying their luck at any other university, including VITs. She, however, suggests that they should get acquainted for measuring progress after completion of the undergraduate degree.

Campus:

  • VIT campus is definitely better than the NIT Raipur campus. Although the NIT Raipur has been considerably renovated.
  • The VIT campus will cost around 2 lakhs per year which includes hostel fees as well. Education at NIT Raipur will cost around 0.5 lakhs.

Course:

  • The course of VIT will not have any effect on your CSE placement.
  • On the other hand, your coding skills and DS+Algo will have a part to play in your placement. Either way, the effort is required regardless of how much you pay.

Placements:

  • By the time you graduate, if you choose NIT Raipur, that is, the institute will pretty much be holding its own among other giants. My senior said two of her batchmates landed a 75 LPA package without paying hefty college fees.
  • VIT, being a private college, is known to boost their placement records. In addition to that, they have a management quota as well which goes on to say that not all the best minds will be found there.
  • A friend of my seniors had a good rank and went to VIT. He got chosen in three companies. VIT attracts employers in large numbers but they offer packages of only around 3-3.5 LPA.

In the case of NIT Raipur, almost every candidate will get at least one job, in recent years many also bagged two jobs. The ones who have, get a package of 4-8 LPA for the first job, and a package of as much as 16-17 LPA for the second job. Candidates who do not get a second job also land a job with a package of 4-8 LPA.

Overall, it is safe to say that CSE from NIT Raipur will be a good option.

In terms of academics, Amrita University matches the IIT syllabus and course structure. The infrastructure and laboratories are in good condition. The college works closely with businesses and other educational institutions. Many academic activities are being carried out to ensure effective information exchange.

College life is the most interesting part. Amrita University's Coimbatore campus is one of the cleanest in India and spans 500 acres. Amrita is a very diverse campus and a great place to make new friends. There is no such constraint. Cell phones are not permitted in the classroom. However, after leaving the classroom, you can talk to your loved ones. A minimum attendance requirement of 80% must be met, or you must present sufficient justification for your absence.

Amrita provides free wifi that is typically 0.5Mbps fast. Aside from YouTube, Facebook, and a few other sites, most academic content is available. Everything else is restricted. Only nutritious vegetarian food is served. The menu is adequate for a South Indian restaurant. If you are a traveler, you will have enough vacation time in Amrita to visit all of India in two years. The resident warden must grant permission for the outing. Every time a girl needs an outing pass, she must submit a fax from her parents. You can earn millions if you plan on participating in and winning every cultural event that is held there. It is an excellent world-class platform for showcasing and honing your skills.

This academic year, Atlassian is the employer with the highest salary on offer to Amrita students, with a staggering 52 lakhs offered annually. Microsoft offered 43 lakhs per year in salary, while Cisco hired 27 students at a CTC of 29.18 lakhs per year.

According to the most recent report, the highest and average compensation packages offered during the 2022 placement drive were INR 19.17 LPA and INR 6.72 LPA, respectively. Furthermore, in 2022, 93 recruiters participated in the placement process, placing 261 students in new-age job profiles. Accenture, Adobe, Infosys, EY, KPMG, and others were among Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's top recruiters in 2022.

If you compare NIT Raipur and VIT Chennai, then NIT Raipur is much better than VIT. In the given table you will get the basic information of NIT Raipur and VIT Chennai.

Here are few reasons why NIT Raipur is a better option.

  1. Government College: NIT Raipur is a government college, and VIT Chennai is a private college. Hence the fees will be less.
  2. Fees: NIT Raipur hostel and tuition fees are lower than VIT.
  3. Placement: I have one of my relatives studying in VIT Chennai. The placement cell of VIT is not better than NIT. The placement of the NIT Raipur core branch is good.
  4. Salary Packages: Students at NIT Raipur have been offered the highest salary of 11.30 LPA while for VIT Chennai, 39 LPA was the highest.
  5. Infrastructure: The infrastructure of NIT is not as good as VIT. But the college is located in the city center and is rapidly developing. However, NIT does not have a good laboratory facility, if you are choosing Biotechnology or Biomedical Engineering. VIT has a better laboratory facility.
  6. Attendance: NIT Raipur is off on weekends. Also, NIT does not have a struct 75% attendee rule, which gives students time to relax and enjoy their college life.
  7. Hostel: Boys do not have a strict time restriction. Girls do face some restrictions while being on time. However, the management is working towards improving it.

Therefore, if you are choosing between NIT Raipur and VIT Chennai, then choose the former. The placement of NIT Raipur is also good. Branches like Electronics and Telecommunications, CSE, Electrical, Mechanical have good placement records. However, Metallurgy, CE, Mining branch placement is not very promising. So make your decision based on these things.

VIT CSE is better in terms of placements, industry exposure, opportunities, and many other things as compared to NIT Puducherry Electrical. According to the recent placement highlights of VIT, the average CTC offered was 6 LPA and the highest CTC offered was 75 LPA.

On the other hand, NIT Puducherry is a Govt. college. It changes less course fee. For a B.E degree, NIT Puducherry charges around 2.17 lakhs, while a B.Tech from VIT will cost around 8 lakhs. The peer group at the institute is great. You will also have the NIT tag with your degree. That is certainly a perk of pursuing a degree at NIT Puducherry.

However, you should choose the institute based on your interest. If you like coding go for VIT CSE, or if you like basic sciences more than NIT Puducherry Electrical Engineering will be a better option for you.

One of my cousins was in the same situation. He had very few options, mainly VIT, Tezpur University, and few NITs. He did some research and found that Tezpur University is considered the best central government institute. After talking to some students of the institute he also learned that the institute is great although the placement rate is not that good. It is a decent option if you want to pursue research.

His focus was placements. So, he chose VIT, Chennai and now he is a proud alumnus of the institute.

Here is a brief comparison of Tezpur University and VIT.

Parameters Tezpur University  VIT
Course fee  2.11 lakhs  7.83 lakhs
Average CTC  3.5 LPA 6.39 LPA
Highest CTC  14 LPA  44 LPA
Major recruiters  HDFC, ICICI, Axis Bank HP, Infosys, Microsoft

So, choose an institute based on what you want out of your degree.

A few of my friends graduated from VIT Chennai and KIIT and here are some insight from their experience which may be of help.

KIIT will be a better choice just because it's the main campus, the placements are almost at par and you get more freedom to enjoy college life.

But VIT does have an edge over many things, and even if you go to VIT Chennai, the placement opportunities will be the same.

Here are the recent placement statistics for the institutes.

Particulars

VIT Chennai

KIIT

Highest CTC

INR 41.6 LPA

INR. 30 LPA

Average CTC

INR 7.3 LPA

INR. 6 LPA

Top recruiters

Infosys, Accenture, Deloitte

TCS, Capgemini, Wipro

Consider other factors as well, things like which is nearer to your home town, where are your friends going, the fee structure, the branch you are taking, etc
