University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) offers full-time UG, PG & PhD courses. Part-time Ph.D.programs are also offered at the University. UPES Admission is divided into two categories, Examination pathway and Non-Examination pathway. Examination pathway is when a candidate gives Entrance Exams conducted by UPES; while for the Non-Examination pathway, admission is done on a Merit basis or Score in National Level Entrance Examination. The university also imparts education through Distance Learning.
UPES admission to B.Tech and B.Tech-LLB (Hons.) integrated courses is done on the basis of performance in UPESEAT followed by central counselling. Candidates can also apply on the basis of a valid score in JEE Main in the non-examination category.
UPES admission to M.Des & B.Des is based on the valid score of CEED or UPES DAT followed by a Presentation and Interview. BBA admission is done through UPESMET-UG and through National Level Tests. - The minimum eligibility to apply is 50% marks in class 10 and 10+2 along with 50% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects at 10+2 level.

The university offers 2-Years M.Sc at PG level and B.Sc and B.Sc (Hons) at UG level for a duration of 3-years. Any person residing in Uttarakhand with a domicile can avail discount on the fees. Also, there is an entrance test based on which you get scholarships for the 1st semester and which can be continued if you perform up to the mark. The admission process was quite easy and fast.

The admission process was on three basis and people can opt for any one thing Firstly, there was an entrance exam in which 50 percent qualification was necessary, secondly, admission can also be availed on boards marks for that at least you should be having 75% in 12th followed by a round of group discussion and thirdly was on your clat or LSAT scores. Clat ranks up to 15000 was considered. The above details can be found on the official page of ups you can also contact someone from the administrative department to help you. Their numbers are also available on the site. There is no reservation provided in the university for students but yes the college provided scholarships based on various quotas. The admission process is quite transparent and many options are given to students from which they can choose the one in which they want to take admission

PDPU provides B.Tech in Petroleum Engineering while UPES provides the same in Applied Petroleum Engineering. The former is considered to be far better and more advantageous than the latter.
Curriculum of PDPU is very well prepared encompassing all major aspects. It has now been bifurcated into upstream and downstream.
Placements at PDPU are much better compared to UPES.
