Aligarh Muslim University MBA Eligibility Criteria

The Applicants applying for the MBA program must be qualified with the following-

The interested candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline of the particular specialization from any recognized and approved university/institute.
Further, he/she must have seated for the Aligarh Muslim University MBA entrance exam and score a valid rank.

Aligarh Muslim University MBA Admission Criteria

Admission Process and Selection Criteria-

The AMU MBA admission process involves three main steps which are as follows- Entrance Exam, Personal Interview(PI) or Aptitude Assessment, and lastly Group Discussion (GD).
MBA and its specialization IB consists of a Written Test which is 200 marks. It is for a duration of three hours. The PI and GD both consist of 50 marks.
The candidate must pass the AMU MBA Entrance Exam with a specified rank or score. A merit list is released by the university.
If he/she scores a valid rank in accordance with the cut-off merit list, the candidate is selected for the next round, i.e., PI or Aptitude Assessment.
After passing this admission round, the last and the final round- GD finalizes the selection and admission of the candidate to the course.
He is then required to present all the original documents and pay the admission fees.

How to Apply?

Candidates can apply for admission at Aligarh Muslim University only through Online mode. The Application Form, other than online mode, will not be accepted in any case. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate for each course of study. Follow the below mentioned Steps to be admitted to AMU MBA Program:

Visit the University website www.amucontrollerexams.com.
Follow the instructions strictly as given in the Guide to Admissions 2023- 24 and on the website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be disqualified from admission.
Candidate should then register online and provide his / her correct and functional email because the username and password etc. will be sent on this email.
Candidate should Registration only once for applying to the multiple courses.
After Registering candidate should login using his/her username and password. Dashboard of the candidate will be available to him/her for filling the form.
The candidate should fill his/her Profile carefully. Fields marked with asterisk are mandatory. After saving the Profile, the candidate will be asked to review and confirm that the particulars entered are correct. Candidate will not be able to Edit/Update his/her Profile after confirmation. If a candidate finds any mistake in his/her Profile after confirmation, then he/she will have to re-register with different Username and Password to complete all the entries afresh.
Candidate should fill details of his/her educational qualifications by providing the name of all examinations passed, including qualifying examination, year of passing, Examination Roll No., University/Board from where passed, and the percentage/CGPA obtained.
Upload the important Documents that are required for Admission along with thumb impression and coloured photographs.
Submit the Application fee through online mode only. The admission fee is not accepted in offline mode. The application fee is INR 900 for all Category candidates.
The Application Form is submitted electronically the moment the candidate makes the payment of the processing charges and payment is successful.
Candidates must take the printout of the Application form and keep it for future reference.

Documents Required

Scanned copy of date of birth certificate/High School Certificate of the candidate.
Passport Size Photographs.
Scanned copy of Marks-sheet / grade-sheet of qualifying examination.
Scanned copy of documents in support of claim under special category, if any.
Scanned copy of documents in support of Professional Experience, if any.
Scanned copy of No Objection Certificate from the employer, if employed at present.

Aligarh Muslim University MBA Entrance Exam Details

The MBA Entrance Exam is conducted in the English language.
It is in Offline Mode
It contains a total of 100 questions in MCQ Type.
The duration of the AMU MBA Entrance exam is 2 hours.
The entire exam is divided into four main sections- (i) Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension : 25 Marks (ii) Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning : 25 Marks (iii) Quantitative Ability : 25 Marks (iv) General Awareness : 25 Marks
The Marking scheme – 25% Negative marking for each incorrect answer is allotted.

NOTE- MBA (IB) admission test is to be conducted at Kolkata, Aligarh, and Kozhikode while MBA (Agribusiness Management) admission is conducted at Aligarh only.

A few years back, a friend of mine was in a position to choose between lower-ranked NITs and AMU. He chose the latter and based on his experience, he swears by that decision. He later went on to do this postgraduate from NIT Warangal. Here is his take on AMU and NITs. ZHCET or AMU is far better than 20 out of 33 NIT’s in India in every domain ranging from placements, internships to faculty, academics, etc. but is behind the top 11 NIT’s of India. Comparing AMU with NITs is quite a large scale. If we compare AMU with one of the top NITs, i.e, NIT Warangal, the infrastructure, library, academics, faculty all are the same but when it comes to placements, NIT Warangal has way better placements. However, not all NITs have a better placement record than AMU. The bottom-most NIT’s according to placements and academics are as follows. NIT Sikkim < NIT Mizoram < NIT Manipur < NIT Arunachal Pradesh < NIT Nagaland < NIT Meghalaya < NIT Andhra Pradesh < NIT Puducherry < NIT Uttarakhand < NIT Goa < NIT Delhi Where NIT Meghalaya and NIT Andhra Pradesh(NIT Tadepalligudem) lack in campus also.

Which is better, IIEST Shibpur IT or AMU CS?

My friend studied at IIEST Shibpur but it was a long time ago. The quality of pedagogy back then was good, however now one can't say much of it. Also personally, CS does not have the best faculty in AMU. If you wish to compare the state of teaching in the institutions, just log in to the official website and go through the qualifications of the faculty members. Check both the academic achievements of the faculty in general, as well as that of the departments. If you live near Shibpur then it'll be easier to commute, however, if you live far away then you can choose AMU. You must note that IIEST Shibpur's IT department might have to shut down and you may regret your decision during placements.

As per the AMU admission trends of the last few years, around 300-350 ranks in the Chance memo list get cleared. You may wait until the 3rd chance memo list. But there’s no way to know whether you will get in or not. It entirely depends on the no of vacant seats.

Yes, Aligarh Muslim University is way better than private universities such as VIT, SRM, Manipal, and Thapar for B.Tech. AMU is a central university and is widely recognized. Many times students prefer AMU prefer NITs. It has international-level infrastructure and a great faculty base. Many professors from CS and Electronics branches are past employees of top MNCs like Microsoft, CISCO, etc. The placements are pretty good for B.Tech. AMU B.Tech placements 2021 had an average CTC of INR 5.62 LPA. The industrial exposure is less compared to the other institutes. But as AMU is located in the vicinity of NCR, the location advantage makes up for it.

The concept of ragging is severely prohibited in AMU. It would be best if you made friends by using your brain. It will take time, but you should quickly adapt as fast as possible. You should make friends who know how the university works. It would be best if you explored different types of clubs for which the university is famous. The clubs are filled with remarkable personalities, which will ease your mind. Attach yourself with a student organization that helps you to enhance your skills. For the research perspectives in any specialized subjects of mechanical engineering, AMU is quite good and for exposure or entrepreneurship, JMI is the better option having 10th NIRF rank among Indian colleges. No, there is no special reservation for Dalits in Aligarh Muslim University. In fact, there is no reservation for any caste or religion at AMU. However, you need to mention your religion in the application form. After the entrance, the selection list is prepared purely based on merit. Although the university does have an internal quota AMU. If you want to take admission in an MTech course at AMU, your qualifying degree is BTech or BE. You can take advantage of the internal student quota, only if you have completed your undergraduate engineering degree from AMU. Some of the other quotas at AMU are as follows. Due to the proximity to Delhi NCR, it's easier to get placement opportunities, internships, and projects. AMU placements have been great for B.Tech. The Computer Science Department is one of the oldest and growing departments at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and came into existence in 1971. The overall infrastructure of this department is quite good and has smart classrooms, conference rooms, seminar libraries with many specialized books in Computer Science. It has central computing labs for both undergraduate and postgraduate students and a separate lab for the research scholars. Both the colleges have their own reputation. My father is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad while one of my brothers is pursuing Law from Aligarh Muslim University. Being a part of two prestigious colleges like IIM Ahmedabad and AMU, when they sit together and discuss something be it Law, ongoing cases, or any other matter, they both have a very different perspective. My father gives proficient suggestions in legal fields as well. He being an IIMian, believes in talking systematically. He is very patient in carving out solutions to every problem. He used to tell me the time of his MBA at IIM Ahmedabad. During his days of MBA, people were not very crazy about pursuing an MBA. But in his opinion doing MBA is the best opportunity to be a part of an institute like IIM Ahmedabad. Comparison: (Winning Institution - IIM Ahmedabad) Every college which is said to be one of the most reputed colleges may not provide the best in all the courses. In the same way, pursuing MBA from Aligarh Muslim University cannot be a good decision. AMU is best for many other courses but it’s a “Big No” for MBA. If you are capable enough, then you must prepare to crack CAT and be a part of IIM Ahmedabad. MBA from IIM – A is a way better choice. The college has been producing better placement results for many years. They develop your management skills and prospers to bring out the best management skills in yourself.
