Course Description

AMU B.Sc admission 2023 is ongoing. Admission to the B.Sc program will be done through AMU entrance exam. AMU B.Sc (Hons) admission test answer keys have been released. Candidates who appeared for the entrance exam can download the answer key through the official website – amucontrollerexams.com. The result will be announced soon.

Also, admissions to B.Sc. (Hons.) Community Science will be based on scores obtained in CUET UG exam conducted by NTA. CUET 2023 exam will be conducted on May 21 to June 06, 2023. Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Geography/ Geology/Statistics/Industrial Chemistry/Computer Applications	Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 55% marks in aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. For admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) with Physics / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications as Main Subject, the candidate should have passed Mathematics at the qualifying examination.
Botany/Zoology/Biochemistry	Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 55% marks in aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. For admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) with Botany/Zoology as Main Subject, the candidate should have passed Biology at the qualifying examination.
Home Science	Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 55% marks in aggregate of English and three subjects from amongst Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Home Science

Aligarh Muslim University B.Sc. Selection Process

Selection will be based on the entrance test conducted by the university.

Merit list will be uploaded by AMU for entrance test according to the marks secured in the qualifying examination
Examination will be offline (pen and paper based)
Question paper will consist 100 questions
Exam will be MCQ based
Duration of entrance exam wil be two hours
Qualified candidates will be invited for counseling and document verification

Aligarh Muslim University B.Sc. Application Form 2023

Candidates can apply for admission at Aligarh Muslim University only through Online mode. The Application Form, other than online mode, will not be accepted in any case. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate for each course of study. Follow the below-mentioned Steps to be admitted to AMU BSc Program:

Visit the University website www.amucontrollerexams.com.
Follow the instructions strictly as given in the Guide to Admissions 2023- 24 and on the website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be disqualified from admission.
Candidate should then register online and provide his / her correct and functional email because the username, password, etc., will be sent to this email.
Candidate should Registration only once for applying to the multiple courses.
After Registering candidate should log in using his/her username and password. A dashboard of the candidate will be available to him/her for filling out the form.
The candidate should fill out his/her Profile carefully. Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory. After saving the Profile, the candidate will be asked to review and confirm that the particulars entered are correct. The candidate will not be able to Edit/Update his/her Profile after confirmation. If a candidate finds any mistake in his/her Profile after confirmation, then he/she will have to re-register with a different Username and Password to complete all the entries afresh.
Candidate should fill in details of his/her educational qualifications by providing the name of all examinations passed, including qualifying examination, year of passing, Examination Roll No., University/Board from where passed, and the percentage/CGPA obtained.
Upload the important Documents that are required for Admission along with thumb impressions and colored photographs.
Submit the Application fee in online mode only. The admission fee is not accepted in offline mode. The application fee is INR 700 for all Category candidates. For B.Sc. (Hons.) Community Science, the application fee is INR 600.
The Application Form is submitted electronically the moment the candidate makes the payment of the processing charges and payment is successful.
Candidates must take the printout of the Application form and keep it for future reference.

Ans. As per the Aligarh University guidelines, while filling up the application form, the format of the scanned copy of documents must be in JPG/JPEG format only. The file size of each should be between 200KB to 2MB.

A few years back, a friend of mine was in a position to choose between lower-ranked NITs and AMU. He chose the latter and based on his experience, he swears by that decision. He later went on to do this postgraduate from NIT Warangal. Here is his take on AMU and NITs. ZHCET or AMU is far better than 20 out of 33 NIT’s in India in every domain ranging from placements, internships to faculty, academics, etc. but is behind the top 11 NIT’s of India. Comparing AMU with NITs is quite a large scale. If we compare AMU with one of the top NITs, i.e, NIT Warangal, the infrastructure, library, academics, faculty all are the same but when it comes to placements, NIT Warangal has way better placements. However, not all NITs have a better placement record than AMU. The bottom-most NIT’s according to placements and academics are as follows. NIT Sikkim < NIT Mizoram < NIT Manipur < NIT Arunachal Pradesh < NIT Nagaland < NIT Meghalaya < NIT Andhra Pradesh < NIT Puducherry < NIT Uttarakhand < NIT Goa < NIT Delhi Where NIT Meghalaya and NIT Andhra Pradesh(NIT Tadepalligudem) lack in campus also.

Which is better, IIEST Shibpur IT or AMU CS?

My friend studied at IIEST Shibpur but it was a long time ago. The quality of pedagogy back then was good, however now one can't say much of it. Also personally, CS does not have the best faculty in AMU. If you wish to compare the state of teaching in the institutions, just log in to the official website and go through the qualifications of the faculty members. Check both the academic achievements of the faculty in general, as well as that of the departments. If you live near Shibpur then it'll be easier to commute, however, if you live far away then you can choose AMU. You must note that IIEST Shibpur's IT department might have to shut down and you may regret your decision during placements.

Yes, Aligarh Muslim University is way better than private universities such as VIT, SRM, Manipal, and Thapar for B.Tech. AMU is a central university and is widely recognized. Many times students prefer AMU prefer NITs. It has international-level infrastructure and a great faculty base. Many professors from CS and Electronics branches are past employees of top MNCs like Microsoft, CISCO, etc. The placements are pretty good for B.Tech. AMU B.Tech placements 2021 had an average CTC of INR 5.62 LPA. The industrial exposure is less compared to the other institutes. But as AMU is located in the vicinity of NCR, the location advantage makes up for it.

No, there is no special reservation for Dalits in Aligarh Muslim University. In fact, there is no reservation for any caste or religion at AMU. However, you need to mention your religion in the application form. After the entrance, the selection list is prepared purely based on merit. Although the university does have an internal quota AMU. If you want to take admission in an MTech course at AMU, your qualifying degree is BTech or BE. You can take advantage of the internal student quota, only if you have completed your undergraduate engineering degree from AMU. Some of the other quotas at AMU are as follows. Both the colleges have their own reputation. My father is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad while one of my brothers is pursuing Law from Aligarh Muslim University. Being a part of two prestigious colleges like IIM Ahmedabad and AMU, when they sit together and discuss something be it Law, ongoing cases, or any other matter, they both have a very different perspective. My father gives proficient suggestions in legal fields as well. He being an IIMian, believes in talking systematically. He is very patient in carving out solutions to every problem. He used to tell me the time of his MBA at IIM Ahmedabad. During his days of MBA, people were not very crazy about pursuing an MBA. But in his opinion doing MBA is the best opportunity to be a part of an institute like IIM Ahmedabad. Comparison: (Winning Institution - IIM Ahmedabad) Every college which is said to be one of the most reputed colleges may not provide the best in all the courses. In the same way, pursuing MBA from Aligarh Muslim University cannot be a good decision. AMU is best for many other courses but it’s a “Big No” for MBA. If you are capable enough, then you must prepare to crack CAT and be a part of IIM Ahmedabad. MBA from IIM – A is a way better choice.
