Ques

How hectic is life in Mtech structural engineering at IIT Madras?

● Top Answer By Santanu Dasgupta on 01 Mar 22

Ans
The career prospect of doing M.Tech in Quality Reliability and Operations Research from ISI Kolkata can be divided into two parts, i.e. jobs and placements. You don’t need to worry about job prospects, you will get placement offers as a Business analyst or Data scientist with a similar CTC of top b-school graduates. According to the 2021 ISI Kolkata placement highlight, the average CTC offered was INR 19 LPA.  Doing Ph.D. or higher studies can be difficult, especially if you are planning on going overseas. It’s better if you choose the Industrial Engineering domain. It will aline with QROR. If you are interested in Data Science or Machine Learning domain, you can consider doing some projects. ISI offers ample opportunities for such projects.

Ques

What is the minimum GATE score to do a PhD in the IIT, Madras?

● Top Answer By Ranjini Banerjee on 01 Mar 22

Ans
Admission to a Ph.D. program at IIT Madras depends on a number of factors. The GATE cutoff doesn’t have much weightage in the selection process. For shortlisting, IIT Madras considers the 10th, 12th, graduation, and masters percentile along with your GATE percentile. You need to have a valid GATE score but the required score is lower compared to the M.Tech cutoff.  For selection, more emphasis is placed on your performance in the written test and interview.

Ques

Which is better: IIT-D electrical or IIT Madras electrical?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 14 Apr 23

Ans
Both IIT Delhi and IIT Madras are highly reputed institutes, and both have excellent electrical engineering departments. It is challenging to declare one institute as definitively better than the other as both are highly regarded and have their unique strengths. However, here are some points to consider that might help you in making a decision: In terms of faculty, both IIT Delhi and IIT Madras have highly qualified and experienced professors, who are experts in their fields. However, the research output of IIT Delhi's electrical department is slightly higher than that of IIT Madras. In terms of infrastructure and facilities, both institutes are well-equipped with state-of-the-art labs and equipment. However, IIT Madras has a larger and more extensive campus, which includes several research centers and facilities, making it a hub for cutting-edge research in the field of electrical engineering. Both institutes have excellent placement records, with several reputed companies visiting the campus for recruitment. However, IIT Delhi has a slightly higher average placement package compared to IIT Madras. Choosing between the two ultimately comes down to personal preferences and priorities. If you value research and a wider range of facilities, IIT Madras may be a better choice. However, if you prioritize placement opportunities and slightly higher research output, IIT Delhi may be the better choice.
