Course Curriculum Overview:

As per my rank, I'm getting only the metallurgy branches in IIT BBS. So I decided to go to IIT instead of getting admission to NIT colleges. Here the ratio of faculty: to students is too good like 1:20. Faculty are highly educated even some of them collaborate with high-standard scientists from foreign countries. Everyone has tonnes of papers published in one of the famous publishers. Literally, they are highly educated people that you will go to meet in your life. Exams will always come after 1 and 1/2 months. Moreover, it is easy to tackle as exams contain the question from the assignment and notes that the professor has given you.

I got an electrical branch for my rank. In the first year, we have subjects from every branch. Every student of any branch has to study all the subjects in the first year. We have 2 semesters. For one semester, grading will be 50 percent end sem,30 percent mid-sem, and 20 percent internals. The curriculum is good. All the teachers are highly qualified. The difficulty of our exams is between moderate to difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was allotted this course on the basis of my rank through Josaa counselling. To be honest I am not fascinated by Civil Engineering but still, it's a good course to be in. The student-teacher ratio is around 18:1 and it is very large compared to other newer IITs. Faculties are highly educated and their teaching methods are okay but the course curriculum is outdated. The semester begins and ends without being noticed and the workload is high as more emphasis is laid on academics here. But exams can be passed after studying one day before the exam as in other engineering colleges.

Ques
How did Kritika Jain from IIT Bhubaneshwar managed to clear both IIM Ahmedabad and UPSC simultaneously(in her first attempt) considering both have completely different syllabus?

● Top Answer By Neeraj Jain on 19 Mar 21

Ans
Although the two entrance exams CAT and UPSC have an entirely different syllabus. Most of you do not accept that CAT is a test that just checks your aptitude. It has been noticed that many of the candidates with apparently good English and Maths scored more than 99.9 percentile without putting in a lot of effort into their preparation.  Following were the reasons that helped Kritika Jain to crack both CAT as well as UPSC in her first attempt were: She mainly focused on UPSC during her preparation phase. Since she had put all of her time and energy into UPSC, she was able to clear it by her dedicated hard work.  Clearing CAT requires aptitude which Kritika was good at. Hence, her talent helped her clear CAT without any extra hard work. IIM Ahmedabad interview merely requires a decent hold on your subjects, general knowledge that you get from UPSC itself, communication skills, and obviously, confidence. Kritika prepared for the UPSC interview so she didn't have to prepare separately for IIM A, thus making it much easier for her to clear IIM Ahmedabad. You should try to understand that I’m not preaching here that it is ideal to sail two different boats when it comes to acting in such exams, but it is also not recommended to give up before trying only because of the fear of failure.  Moreover, the first attempt of the candidate has its own advantages, such as positivity and being full of energy. If you have a fixed goal with a strong focus, you can even crack UPSC in your first attempt. Hence, giving up your fear will definitely push you to give your best in any exam.

Ques
Which is a better option for EE, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Indore, or IIT Bhubaneswar?

● Top Answer By Shalini Sahu on 30 Mar 23

Ans
Be it any branch, I would always choose IIT Bhubaneswar over 2nd generation IITs such as IIT Gandhinagar and IIT Indore. Let’s discuss the worth of IIT Bhubaneswar in terms of common aspects like Academics: An easy way to judge the academic standards of an Institute is to compare the quality and quantity of research papers published. In these terms, IIT Bhubaneswar has an evident advantage over IIT Gandhinagar. Faculty: Another major criteria are the faculty as they are responsible for publishing papers. In this aspect too Bhubaneswar has an upper hand as it has professors from IIT Kharagpur and Kanpur teaching in various departments in the institute. It also has foreign professors that provide the necessary exposure. Sports: IIT Bhubaneswar owns this one as it is the first of the 2nd Gen IITs to be co-hosting the INTER-IIT sports meet in 2019. This fact in itself is a testament to the excellent infrastructural facilities. Infrastructure: IIT Bhubaneswar has excellent sports as well as other facilities in the form of cricket, and football; courts for tennis, badminton, volleyball, and table tennis; gym facilities in both the girls' and boys' hostels and the new swimming pool. Extracurricular: Several societies and councils are supported by the Institute that promotes extracurricular culture. The college has participated in the Inter-IIT cultural meet in various events such as music, drama, literature, debating, and also dance. Hostel: The accommodation facilities are top notch with more than basic amenities such as Washing machines, water heaters, 24-hour water supply, and two common rooms with TVs for all the hostellers to watch exciting matches together. The hostel has 24/7 Wi-Fi facilities and is a great place to make friends. IIT Bhubaneswar is an excellent place to create memories and enjoy a rich college experience.

Ques
How is IIT Bhubaneswar Electrical as compared to other new IITs like Mandi, Indore, Hyderabad, Ropar, Gandhinagar, Dhanbad etc.?

● Top Answer By Aikantika Roy on 09 Jul 21

Ans
Since my cousin used to be a student of IIT Dhanbad, I might be able to give you some facts about the college which might give you a proper insight. IIT ISM was formerly known as ISM Dhanbad. It boasted of a rich legacy and an equally rich infrastructure which is not true for the newly established IITs. IIT ISM is technically a new IIT but practically it is not. Because of the IIT tag, IIT Bhubaneswar and a number of other IITs had a very low opening and closing ranks. IIT ISM initially had a high opening and closing rank. Many candidates did not want to join IIT ISM even after cracking JEE. Many major companies visited the campus of IIT ISM during placements. The salary package has been going up and the number of companies visiting the campus has also been increasing. Some of the big names are PSUs namely OIL, MECL, CIL, IOCL, BPCL, ONGC, etc. Categories IIT ISM Course Fee 8.75 lakh Highest CTC 12 LPA Average CTC 6-7 LPA You can get a good job if you go for IIT ISM, as good as a job you can get from its Bhubaneswar counterpart.

Ques
Which should I choose, CSE in BITS Goa or CSE in IIT Bhubaneswar?

● Top Answer By Pratham Sharma on 21 Mar 23

Ans
When it comes to choosing the best option for CSE, you should consider BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus. Without any doubt, this institution offers an excellent program in computer science and engineering. Compared to IIT Bhubaneswar, which is a recent institution and has been lost among several new IITs formed in recent years, BITS Goa is the second campus in India out of only 3 campuses in the country. This means that it has a well-established reputation and a proven track record of producing successful graduates. In terms of faculty and infrastructure, BITS Goa is at par with other campuses, ensuring that you receive a high-quality education and access to the latest technology and resources. The faculty is highly qualified and experienced, providing you with a strong foundation in computer science and engineering. Furthermore, studying at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus offers you a unique opportunity to experience a diverse and vibrant campus life. You'll have access to a range of extracurricular activities and clubs, allowing you to pursue your interests and develop your skills outside of the classroom. Overall, if you're looking for a top-notch CSE program, you should definitely consider BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus. It offers high-quality education, excellent faculty, and a vibrant campus life, ensuring that you receive a well-rounded education and the skills you need to succeed in the field of computer science and engineering.

Ques
Is it better to join NIT Trichy or IIT Bhubaneswar?

● Top Answer By Shalini Sahu on 22 Apr 21

Ans
My friends have studied at IIT Bhubaneswar as well as at NIT Trichy, so based on their experience, both the mentioned Institutes are acknowledged. Apparently, IIT Bhubaneswar has been doing good for the past two years in almost every aspect be it the faculty recruitment, the placement cells, the laboratory facilities and facilities, and academics, etc. Whereas on the other hand NIT Trichy holds its own unique reputation as far as the companies are concerned that visits the campus. Given that NIT Trichy has a strong aluminum base that makes it one of the top reputed institutes. Still, there are few differences among both the brands being one NIT and the other IIT. Categories NIT Trichy IIT Bhubaneswar Course Fee 5.65 lakhs 8.52 - 10.63 lakhs Placement Percentage 80-90% 90% Highest CTC 28 LPA 32 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA 10.2 LPA Recruiting Companies Deloitte, TCS, Accenture, Wipro, etc. Accenture, Capgemini, TCS, IBM, etc. So, if you're really concerned about the brand, the choice can be obvious. However, rather than make it a generalized one, you could focus on your interests if you have any in a specific branch and jot down the options accordingly.

Ques
Which is a better choice among industrial systems engineering at IIT Kharagpur and electrical engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar?

● Top Answer By Mitali Khadanga on 16 Mar 23

Ans
Ans. - IIT Bhubaneswar is a young institute with immense potential for growth and accomplishment. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur is a well-established institute with a long-standing reputation. If you are seeking an institute with outstanding campus life and facilities, then IIT Kharagpur is the perfect fit for you. If you are uncertain about your branch of study but confident about your ability to compete, you can consider opting for a branch change after your first year by earning a high GPA. Keep in mind that this option is not an easy one. Considering the scope of job and academia, Electrical Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar may be a better option for you, even if you are unaware of the current placement scenario. Students have been receiving better offers over the years, indicating positive growth. In the end, your decision depends on your interests and what you want to study. Both of these institutes are excellent places to pursue either of these streams, with their respective strengths and opportunities.

Ques
Which is better, mechanical engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar or engineering design at IIT Madras?

● Top Answer By Rajashree Ghosh on 09 Jul 21

Ans
Well, the answer to this question depends on your long-term career choices and how you want to shape your future. Pursuing engineering design at IIT Madras can be a big boost to your CV if you want to go for MBA after your graduation. Moreover, engineering design at IIT Madras will give you the opportunity to choose your specialization. If your performance in the first year in IITs is exceptionally good, then you can also go for government jobs. Mechanical engineering graduates are more likely to get placements. It is because most of the people in the recruiting panel will not even recognize engineering design as a graduation specialization. Categories Mechanical at IIT Bhubaneswar Engineering Design at IIT Madras Course Fee 8.52 lakh 10.41lakhs Course Duration 4 years 5 years Highest CTC 30 LPA 21 LPA Average CTC 7-8 LPA 13 LPA Recruiting Companies IOCL, BPCL, ISRO, Deloitte, etc. Oracle, Google, Microsoft, Wipro, etc. A lot of the big companies hire students of mechanical engineering from IIT Madras. The research facilities of IIT Bhubaneswar are also top-notch.

Ques
How is IIT Bhubaneswar mechanical as compared to other new IITs opened in 2008 and IIT Dhanbad?

● Top Answer By Arunabha Jha on 22 Apr 21

Ans
IIT Bhubaneswar is a new IIT and was established in the year 2008. On the other hand, IIT Dhanbad is an old IIT. Being an old IIT, the academic curriculum and academic flexibility are more functional at IIT Dhanbad than any other new IIT. Many of my friends have passed out from IIT Dhanbad who were highly satisfied with their placement considering their JEE advance ranks. In the placement drive 2020, the highest package offered to the mechanical branch at IIT Dhanbad was INR 17 lakhs per annum.  Changing your branch is comparatively easier at IIT Dhanbad. So, even if you are compromising on your branch of choice, you can get it altered to your choice once you join in. To conclude, I would suggest you go for IIT Dhanbad.

Ques
Shall I go for IIT Bhubaneswar or NIT Rourkela or IIT Hyderabad for an MSc in Chemistry?

● Top Answer By Adrija Sinha on 04 Jun 22

Ans
If you are interested in academics and want to pursue research after completing M.Sc, NIT Rourkela is the best option among these. The institute offers good resources and facilities to carry out research interests. You can explore and learn.  If you don’t want to do a PhD after completing M.Sc, choose one of the IITs. The IIT tag will help get good placement opportunities.
