What's New at IIM Indore

IIM Indore EPGP admission 2024 is going on and the provisional admission offer will be sent by January 05, 2024 for Phase 1 and February 28, 2023 for Phase 2. IIM Indore FPM and EFPM Admission has begun and the last date to apply is February 15, 2024. IIM Indore Masters in Management Admission 2024 are currently open, last date to apply is January 14, 2024. IIM Indore IPMAT Exam will be conducted on May 23, 2024. CAT Result 2023 has been released. Candidates can download the scorecard from the official website by using their login ID and username.

Management education at IIM Indore is built around a two year full time MBA carrying a fee of INR 21,14,222, and running beside it is an HRM specialisation of identical length billed at INR 18,39,222. Other lanes stay open too: an Executive MBA aimed at people already in jobs, a five year Integrated Programme in Management for candidates arriving straight from school, and three doctoral routes gathered under the Fellow Programme banner.

On one point the institute is uniform. A standardised test score, followed by a personal interview, is compulsory in every lane without a single exception. IPMAT governs the Integrated Programme and CAT feeds the full time MBA, while the doctoral tracks FPM, EFPM and the newer EFPMG read scores from CAT, GATE, GRE, GMAT or JRF. Applicants to EFPM or EFPMG holding none of those are not shut out, since the institute runs its own Research Aptitude Test for them.

IIM Indore UG Admission: IPM

Five years of study in the Integrated Programme in Management end with a BBA and an MBA awarded together by IIM Indore, and IPMAT is the gateway to that degree pair. The test travels to 34 Indian cities and yields an Aptitude Test Score assembled out of three sections. That single figure settles who moves ahead toward interview, after which test and interview performance together shape the offer.

Admission StageDescription
Application FormSubmitted online through the IIM Indore website.
IPMATHeld in 34 cities for candidates who meet eligibility.
Shortlist for InterviewThe interview merit list follows an Aptitude Test Score generated from three sections.
Personal InterviewShortlisted candidates are interviewed online or offline.
Final SelectionA composite of test and interview scores drives the category wise merit.

IPMAT Pattern and Sectional Cut-off

Quantitative Ability appears twice in the paper, once as MCQs and once in short answer form, with a Verbal Ability MCQ section completing it. For each of the three the Admission Committee fixes an independent minimum, and clearing them individually is compulsory because a strong section cannot compensate for a weak one. Sectional cut-offs applied in the 2022 cycle are listed here.

Every candidate's Aptitude Test Score (ATS) emerges from the three weighted components tabulated below, and a set number of candidates from each category then receives an interview call.

How to Apply for IPM

  • The IIM Indore website handles IPM applications against a fee of INR 4,130, halved to INR 2,065 for SC, ST and PwD applicants.
  • Candidates in the EWS, NC-OBC, SC, ST and PwD groups must attach a valid category certificate to the application.

IIM Indore PG Admission: PGP and PGP-HRM

No PGP specific form exists to be filled, because registering for CAT is itself the act of applying. Once the test has been written at centres spread nationwide, interview shortlists are drawn category by category from CAT scores alone. Those interviews are offline events staged in seven cities: Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata and Mumbai. Four inputs, Class 10 marks, Class 12 marks, the CAT score and the interview score, are then combined into the composite behind the merit list.

Admission StageDescription

Selection Criteria

Three stages stand between an applicant and an MBA seat. First among them are the CAT cut-offs tabulated below, and a broader profile is not examined at all until those percentiles have been crossed.

Anyone who misses the stage one cut-offs is out of the race at that point. For the rest, a composite score takes charge. It draws on Class 10 marks, Class 12 marks, CAT performance, a diversity factor and work experience, and interview calls are issued strictly in the order of that combined figure.

Final Selection

With interviews complete, a Final Composite Score becomes the deciding number. Class 10, Class 12, CAT and interview marks all feed into it, and the HRM track layers diversity weightage on top. From that score comes the category wise merit list that determines who is admitted.

  • Pay the application fee, then submit the form.

IIM Indore PG Admission: EPGP

For the Executive PGP the shortlist rests on nothing except the GMAT score. Candidates clearing that bar are interviewed either in person or over Zoom, and the provisional offer comes out of an equal split, half GMAT and half interview.

How to Apply for EPGP

Applications are hosted online on the IIM Indore website. Submission is complete once the required documents have been uploaded and a non-refundable fee of INR 5,900 has been paid.

IIM Indore PG Admission: PGPMX

Working executives take PGPMX at the Mumbai campus, where entry demands an Aptitude Test together with an interview, the two occasionally falling on the same day. Five years of work experience is the floor for PGPMX, while the related GMPE track for executives sets its bar at three. After an offer arrives, the seat becomes confirmed only when a commitment fee is paid inside the stipulated window.

How to Apply for PGPMX

The IIM Indore website carries the form, and a non-refundable fee of INR 5,000 accompanies it.

IIM Indore PhD Admission: FPM and EFPM

Shortlisting on the doctoral side works off scores in CAT, GRE, GMAT, GATE or JRF, with one relaxation: EFPM applicants holding none of them may write the institute's Research Aptitude Test instead. An on campus interview at IIM Indore awaits every candidate who meets the eligibility bar, and the provisional offer that follows turns entirely on that one conversation.

Admission StageDescription
Application FormSubmitted on the IIM Indore website.
Shortlist for InterviewEligibility plus standard test scores (CAT, GRE, GMAT, GATE, JRF); RAT is an alternative for EFPM candidates without these.
Personal InterviewConducted at IIM Indore for shortlisted candidates.
Final SelectionInterview performance decides, and a provisional offer follows.

Standard Tests and Interview

Whichever qualifying score a candidate brings, be it CAT, GRE, GMAT, GATE, JRF or RAT, becomes the shortlisting basis. Interviews then take place for all shortlisted applicants and are assessed against parameters laid down by the Admissions Committee, each parameter carrying a threshold that must be met before a candidate proceeds further.

Final Selection

The requirements of the academic area being targeted are what ultimately decide outcomes. An area wise and category wise merit list is built from interview performance, and provisional offers are issued from it.

How to Apply for FPM / EFPM

  • Personal, academic and professional information is submitted through the IIM Indore website.
  • Anything complete carries personal details, educational qualifications, standard test scores, employment history with references, academic achievements and a statement of purpose.
  • The FPM fee is INR 1,000, cut to INR 500 for SC, ST and PwD candidates, while EFPM applicants pay INR 3,000, going up to INR 4,500 when two specialisation areas are chosen.

IIM Indore PhD Admission: EFPMG

Governance blended with management defines EFPMG, the newest doctoral track at the institute, and no external examination attaches to it. Entry instead runs through IIM Indore's own Research Aptitude Test. Once RAT results appear an interview follows, and offers reach only candidates who get past both stages.

Admission StageDescription
Application FormSubmitted on the IIM Indore website.
RATRun by IIM Indore to shortlist candidates for interview.
Personal InterviewConducted for those shortlisted through RAT.

Selection Criteria

Academic eligibility, RAT performance and the interview outcome are weighed together when admission decisions are taken.

  • The institute's own RAT covers quantitative ability, verbal ability and research aptitude.
  • Clearing RAT brings an interview call.
  • How that interview goes determines the final offer.

How to Apply for EFPMG

The form is filed through the IIM Indore website with a non-refundable fee of INR 3,540, which rises to INR 5,310 when a candidate applies to two specialisation areas.

Ques. Which entrance examination leads into the two year MBA here?

Ans. CAT is where the journey begins, and candidates who make the shortlist go on to a personal interview. Admission is then settled by a composite drawn from Class 10 marks, Class 12 marks, the CAT score and the interview score.

Ques. Is a Class 12 pass enough to join the institute?

Ans. Yes, by way of the Integrated Programme in Management. It runs for five years and finishes with a BBA and an MBA awarded together by the institute.

Ques. How is the IPMAT paper structured?

Ans. It carries three sections in a fixed sequence, 40 minutes each: Quantitative Ability (MCQ), Quantitative Ability (short answer) and Verbal Ability (MCQ). An MCQ answered correctly is worth 4 marks and a wrong one costs 1 mark.

Ques. What CAT percentile clears the first filter for a general category applicant?

Ans. The overall requirement is 90 percentile, and every section separately has to touch 80 percentile.

Ques. What must an IPM candidate clear before an interview call arrives?

Ans. IPMAT is held in 34 Indian cities, and progressing to the interview needs the overall cut-off and each sectional cut-off to be cleared together, not one in place of the other.

Ques. Which qualifications make someone eligible for FPM?

Ans. The routes are varied: a master's degree in any discipline with 60% aggregate or equivalent CGPA, a two year postgraduate diploma at 60%, a B.Com at 60% paired with a professional qualification such as CA or ICWA at 50% minimum, a five year integrated master's at 60%, or a four year bachelor's degree carrying a CGPA of 6.5 or higher.

Ques. For how long can a test score be used on an FPM application?

Ans. Validity runs to 5 years from the test date for CAT, GRE and GMAT, whereas GATE and JRF scores have to fall inside the 3 years before the application.

Ques. Does accepting an offer involve any payment in advance?

Ans. It does. The seat is held by a commitment fee, set at INR 1,00,000 for EPGP and INR 75,000 for FPM.

Ques. What option remains for an EFPM applicant carrying no CAT, GRE, GMAT, GATE or JRF score?

Ans. RAT is open to them, and the institute conducts it in-house once the EFPM application window has closed.

Ques. What is the minimum 10+2 requirement for PGP-HRM?

Ans. General applicants need a 50% aggregate, which drops to 45% for ST, SC and PwD applicants.

Ques. Are the CAT cut-offs identical for the regular MBA and PGP-HRM?

Ans. No. The regular MBA sets its overall bar at 90 percentile while PGP-HRM asks for a lower 70 percentile overall.

Ques. Can any programme be joined without an entrance test score?

Ans. Not one. Across every programme offered by the institute, a standardised test score is the compulsory first step.

Ques. How much do the MBA and its HRM variant cost?

Ans. The regular MBA is priced at INR 21,14,222, while the HRM specialisation inside the same programme costs INR 18,39,222.

Ques. Does the MBA carry an upper age restriction?

Ans. No such restriction exists; the institute sets no upper age limit for MBA applicants.

Ques. What eligibility does the Executive PGP expect?

Ans. A bachelor's degree with 50% aggregate marks is required, backed by a minimum of 5 years of full time managerial or professional experience.

Ques. How intense is the competition for a seat?

Ans. Allotment happens strictly on entrance test merit at this well regarded management institute, so competition stays fierce and early, thorough preparation is what pays off.

Ques. At what point in the year does the MBA cycle open?

Ans. No separate MBA application is floated. Everything happens through CAT registration, which usually opens in August.

Ques. Between which dates was the IPM form available?

Ans. The window opened on March 6, 2023 and stayed open until April 14, 2023.

Ques. What are the steps in Executive MBA admission?

Ans. A GMAT score wins a place on the shortlist, a personal interview comes next for those shortlisted, and both scores together produce the final decision.

Ques. Who is the EFPM programme designed for?

Ans. EFPM, short for Executive Fellow Programme in Management, is a part time doctoral track meant for working executives, managers, faculty members and researchers.

Remarks:

My primary and only consideration for choosing IIM Indore was the placement scenario which caused me to choose it over NITs which I was getting through JEE Mains. I had got confirmed admission in NIT Bhopal. A lot of people have been asking me about the placement scenario of IPM students at IIM Indore, and the common question encountered was 'Why haven't you given CAT?' The easy answer is 'I am not eligible for it.' The eligibility for CAT requires graduation in any discipline. As I am an 18 year old student who has just passed out 12th, how would I give CAT. Second thing is CAT selection criterion is such that you require 4 years of engineering from NIT or IIT, then 2 years of work experience and then 2 years PGP at IIM, which would take 8 years to pass from IIM, while I would be getting placement through IPM just after 3 years, which would be an internship of 2-3 months wherein the average stipend per month goes ~~ 2 lakh per month, after that if best match of the company-employee is found, you can get a PPO(PPOs for IPM have avg placement of *36.5* lakh per year at IIMI) or else you can sit in campus placements along with the PGP folks(who give *CAT*) wherein the avg placement goes nearly 30-35 lakhs per year. The IPM students have relevant coursework in management which causes them to beg better placements than the PGP peers. The IPM students get best placements in Investment banking, risk management, and strategy , management consulting(the top firms being *Goldman Sachs, Ambit capital, jpmc, Morgan Stanley, and cherry on the top being *BCG, BCN, EY, Arthur D Little and other consulting firms* as well as the top placements in GenMan and marketing are also begged by them, the average placements when you see the consolidated report of 2023, you will see 32.2 LPA which is taken after taking average of students across PGP and IPM as they are placed together and get the same opportunities, IPM being preferred over engineers by many firms including the ones named above. As I am a part of the process now and have been researching through a lot before selecting IIM Indore over the IITs, I know IIM Indore IPM students have better average and median placements as compared to the PGP ones. Now those people who ask might also be able to answer.... Why I and 90000+ students like me aspire for IIM Indore every year. But top 150 candidates get a chance to be in the college(who have 95+ percent in 10th 12th board exams, exceptional state, national level extra curriculars as well as 99+%ile in the IPMAT entrance.) I am sure that those 150 are exempted from CAT because of luck some may say or because they are *exceptional* . As exceptions exist *I will never give CAT and beg better placements than those who will clear it*

For GEM, the CAT percentiles required to get an interview call from IIM Blackis, FMS, SP Jain, JBIMS, and MDI Gurgaon are

  • ABC and FMS: Both institutes required nothing less than 99.5. Those who get admission at a lesser percentile, usually don’t belong to the GEM category. There are many who don’t even get a call with 99.3. So to stay on the safer side, go for nothing less than 99.5.
  • IIM Indore and Kozhikode: Both the institutes require percentiles around 97.5 for an interview call
  • SPJIMR: This Institute has unique selection criteria under which CAT is given less value and calls are issued on the basis of the candidate's profile. The CAT percentile required in this case is less than the normal if you have a good academic profile along with work experience,
  • MDI: This institute issues calls around the 96% mark.

It’s important to know that these figures are based on trends and not on actual data so you will find exceptions everywhere. Moreover, it’s better you don’t waste time analyzing the CAT cutoff and start preparing for the same.

My friend has graduated from IIM Indore and would describe the fests as massive events of celebration. The institute organizes a lot of literary and cultural events but the two main events in the year are as follows:

Atharv:

  • This is the cultural, literary, and management festival of IPM, organized each year.
  • A number of events in this one include managerial to marketing and b-plan events to literary and cultural events.
  • More than 1 lakh students participate in Atharv conducted for 3 days. These events can help you get some cash prizes as well.
  • The evenings feature musical and artistic performances by professionals in the field.

Another important fest is titled Ranbhoomi. It is the Annual National Level Sports Festival. This one is held for three days as well and the events range from Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, and even Chess and Arm-Wrestling.

  • Also, there are regular shuttle bus services for going into the city.
  • The daily schedule of the students is usually packed with classes in the morning and maybe a few more in the afternoon.
  • After that, there is a complete makeover, students run to juice centers, along with the Chai shops, special Indori Poha at Poha point, HUL's Adda, and many other eating points.
