Ques

Which is better: IIT-D electrical or IIT Madras electrical?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 14 Apr 23

Ans
Both IIT Delhi and IIT Madras are highly reputed institutes, and both have excellent electrical engineering departments. It is challenging to declare one institute as definitively better than the other as both are highly regarded and have their unique strengths. However, here are some points to consider that might help you in making a decision: In terms of faculty, both IIT Delhi and IIT Madras have highly qualified and experienced professors, who are experts in their fields. However, the research output of IIT Delhi's electrical department is slightly higher than that of IIT Madras. In terms of infrastructure and facilities, both institutes are well-equipped with state-of-the-art labs and equipment. However, IIT Madras has a larger and more extensive campus, which includes several research centers and facilities, making it a hub for cutting-edge research in the field of electrical engineering. Both institutes have excellent placement records, with several reputed companies visiting the campus for recruitment. However, IIT Delhi has a slightly higher average placement package compared to IIT Madras. Choosing between the two ultimately comes down to personal preferences and priorities. If you value research and a wider range of facilities, IIT Madras may be a better choice. However, if you prioritize placement opportunities and slightly higher research output, IIT Delhi may be the better choice.

Is it that valuable doing the MBA from IIT Delhi as compared to IIM Shillong?

● Top Answer By Sushmita Gupta on 06 Apr 23

Ans
I will do a brief comparison between the MBA programs of the 2 institutes based on common parameters and leave the final call for you to make  Brand value: IIT Delhi enjoys international recognition while IIM Shillong offers the much coveted IIM tag. However, being a new IIM, its tag does not hold much value in comparison to IIT Delhi's tag. Fees: The MBA program offered at IIM Shillong costs a whooping ?14.6 Lakhs while that at IIT Delhi costs around INR 10.4 Lakhs saving you a few Lakhs. Location: Due to its central location, IIT Delhi offers much more opportunities in terms of exposure and placements. Located near the IT hub Gurgaon, it attracts many startups that come with internship offers. IIM on the other hand is located in the North Eastern part of India and lacks the necessary industrial touch. Infrastructure: IIT Delhi is one of the oldest IITs lacks in terms of infrastructure when compared to the newly built IIM Shillong which has a dreamy campus. Top sectors: IIT Delhi is well known for its specialization in IT/Consulting, and Operation whereas IIM Shillong’s top sectors are Sales & Marketing, Finance, and Consulting. Now weigh the pros and cons of both and make a wise decision based on the same.

Ques

Which one is better for M.Tech in construction management either IIT Delhi or IIT Madras?

● Top Answer By Tithi Banerjee on 01 Apr 23

Ans
If you're considering pursuing an M.Tech in construction management, you might be wondering which institute is better between IIT Madras and IIT Delhi. According to my knowledge cutoff of 2021, IIT Madras has an edge over IIT Delhi for this program. The reason behind this is that IIT Madras has strong ties with senior management offices of L&T and other major construction firms, which provides a great networking opportunity for students. While the quality of professors and curriculum may be subjective, the proximity of IIT Madras to these companies is not. If you choose to study at IIT Madras, you can expect to be challenged to excel in your studies, as the program is demanding. However, this challenging curriculum is accompanied by excellent professors who can guide you through the course material. Additionally, IIT Madras has a beautiful campus that can enhance your overall experience as a student. In summary, if you're looking for a program that can provide you with networking opportunities and excellent professors, IIT Madras is a great option to consider for your M.Tech in construction management.

Ques

Which is better for CS, IIT Delhi or IIT Madras?

● Top Answer By Saugata Nayak on 29 Mar 23

Ans
If you're considering pursuing a computer science course, you may have come across the perception that Kanpur offers the best academically but falls behind other cities such as Bombay, Delhi, and Madras due to its geographic location. While this statement may hold some truth, it's important to understand the context behind it. Here are some important points to consider: Kanpur, a city located in the northern part of India, is home to one of the oldest and most prestigious engineering colleges, IIT Kanpur. It offers a strong curriculum and has a reputation for producing some of the brightest minds in the field of computer science. However, when it comes to IT companies setting up their offices, they tend to prefer cities like Bombay and Delhi due to their geographic location and infrastructure. These cities are often seen as hubs for the IT industry, and hence, they attract more companies than Kanpur. Students who are looking for better placement opportunities may prefer to study in cities like Delhi or Bombay. While Madras is also a popular choice, its location in the southern part of India may not appeal to some students. From an academic standpoint, Delhi and Madras are no different from each other. Both cities have renowned institutions, such as IIT Delhi and IIT Madras respectively, that offer excellent computer science programs. It's important to note that the perception that Kanpur offers the best computer science program academically is subjective and may vary depending on individual preferences and career goals.  While Kanpur may be seen as academically superior, its placement opportunities may not be as strong as other cities like Bombay or Delhi. Ultimately, it's important to consider all aspects of a program, including its curriculum, location, and placement opportunities before making a decision.

● Top Answer By Sushmita Gupta on 01 Apr 23

Ans
If you are not sure which major to choose between computer science and any other program, and are willing to put in the same effort for either of the programs, then computer science can be a great option to consider. Computer science is a vast field that deals with the study of computers, software, and computational systems. It is a fascinating area that allows you to discover interesting things about how information technology is powering the world. Computer science is a rapidly evolving field, and as a student, you will have the opportunity to learn about the latest advancements and trends in the industry. However, before making a decision, it is important to figure out if you have a genuine interest in either of the programs. You can read a few blogs and articles about computer science and any other program you are considering to find out which one sounds more interesting to you. It can also be helpful to talk to a few IIT pass-outs from both of these majors and observe their career growth. If you still find it difficult to choose, taking a blind leap of faith and studying computer science can be a great decision. Computer science is a versatile field, and a degree in this area can open doors to various job opportunities in the IT industry. The demand for computer science professionals is high, and it is a field that promises a good salary, job security, and career growth. Overall, the choice between computer science and any other program ultimately depends on your interests, career aspirations, and personal goals. If you have a genuine interest in computer science and are willing to put in the effort, then it can be a great choice to pursue.

How is the 8.0 CGPA at IIT Delhi?

● Top Answer By Sona Panday on 14 Apr 23

Ans
At IIT Delhi, a 7 CGPA is considered average so definitely 8 CGPA will be considered above average. The value of CGPAs at IIT Delhi is as follows  7.0: AVG 8.0: ABOVE AVG 9.0: VERY GOOD 9.5+: EXCELLENT Key highlight pertaining to CGPA The usual cutoff set by companies that visit the campus for placements is 8.5. Very few companies have a cutoff of 8 or 9 so to stay on the safer side, 8.5 is an ideal CGPA.  No matter how lucrative your CGPA may seem if you don’t fill the certain criteria, it will be very difficult to get placed Forex is a rare example that requires an 8 CGPA For those opting for branch change, need to maintain 8+ CGPA To hold a Position of Responsibility the minimum CGPA required is 7 CGPA. I would like to comment that an 8 CGPA is quite decent and will open opportunities to a certain extent but to ensure maximum opportunities, an 8.5+ CGPA is recommended.

Is it wise to go for an MBA in IIT Delhi, leaving PGDIM from NITIE? I am interested in marketing management.

● Top Answer By Pratik Parikh on 14 Apr 23

Ans
No, it is not wise to go for an MBA in IIT Delhi, leaving PGDIM from NITIE. While both institutes offer management programs, here are some reasons why you should consider NITIE instead of IIT Delhi: Degree in General Management: NITIE offers a degree in general management, which means that you'll get a well-rounded education and exposure to different areas of management. While the institute has a major focus on supply chain management and operations, they also offer electives in finance and marketing. Premier B School: NITIE ranks as one of the premier B schools in India and has a reputation for producing successful managers and leaders across different sectors. This can give you an advantage in the long run when it comes to career growth and opportunities. Alumni Base: NITIE has a huge alumni base across different industries and sectors, including consulting, marketing, and supply chain management/operations. This can provide you with valuable connections and networking opportunities, which can help you advance your career. Location: NITIE is located in Mumbai, which is the financial capital of India. This means that you'll have access to a wide range of job opportunities and industries, especially in the marketing field. On the other hand, IIT Delhi School of Management primarily focuses on engineering, and its alumni base in the corporate sector may not be as strong as NITIE's. In conclusion, while IIT Delhi may be a good option for certain management programs, NITIE's reputation, alumni base, and location make it a better choice for marketing management.
