Course Description

IIT Delhi MS Research Admissions are ongoing now. IIT Delhi MS Research applications are over now. The institute will conduct the written test and interview from December 01 to December 12. The oreintation and registration for the new students are shceduled to take place on December 30, 2023.

IIT Delhi offers MS in Research in both full-time and part-time mode. The minimum eligibility for MS (Research) is the qualification of B.E./ B.Tech./ M.Sc. or equivalent with (a) CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for General/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS Category. The selection to the course is done based on a valid GATE score.

IIT Delhi MS Eligibility Criteria

For MS (R) Full Time:

For direct admission, i.e without written test/ interview candidates should have passed BE/ B.Tech or M.Sc with at least 75% (70% for SC/ ST/ PH) marks in aggregate along with a GATE score of minimum 300 (200 for reserved category)
Admission based on written test/ interview, candidates must be graduates of B.E./ B.Tech./ M.Sc. or equivalent with (a) CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% aggregate marks for General/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS Category with valid GATE score. B.tech students from IITs with 8.00 CGPA without GATE score are also eligible for admission. AMIE /Grad. IETE is eligible if they fulfill the minimum eligibility of completing the undergraduate courses with 24 credits prescribed by the respective program.
Other candidates require a GATE scorecard as part of the selection criteria.
Sponsored full-time candidates required to provide sponsorship certificates from their employers.

For MS (R) Part-Time:

Candidates must be graduates of B.E./ B.Tech./ M.Sc. or equivalent in relevant fields with (a) CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% aggregate marks for General/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ EWS Category and minimum experience. They must submit a No Objection Certificate from the employer and the organization should be located within 50km. of IIT Delhi.
Part-time candidates must sit through a written test and/or interview conducted by the institute.

IIT Delhi MS Admission

Admissions to MS (R) are is at IIT Delhi entrance-based. IIT Delhi takes a valid GATE score or conducts a written test and/or interviews

Register yourself as a new candidate
Fill the application form and enter all the academic and personal details
Pay the Application fee of INR 300 (for EN/ OBC/ EWS) or INR 150 (for SC/ ST/ PwD)
Candidates will be picked based on the merit of their qualifying exam and entrance exam
Candidates who are shortlisted will be called for interviews, they need to bring their application forms and required documents.

Admission to IIT Delhi MS in Research is done in two phases. Phase 1 of selection criteria includes online screening test. Candidates shortlisted after Phase 1 are considered for admission on the basis of interview round/ GATE scores. Cutoff required for the screening stage is as follows:

IIT Delhi MS Course Details

Students are also given the option to choose a Ph.D. while doing their MS (R). M.S.(R) programs have two-thirds of the credits for the thesis.
The minimum duration of the MS program at IIT Delhi is 4 semesters (24 months) for full-time students and 6 semesters (36 months) for part-time students.
The course requires students to have the minimum credit of 60 credits including the thesis.

Ques. What are the other facilities available for MS (R) students at IIT Delhi?

Ans. The Institute offers many central facilities to students for the smooth functioning of their Academics, Research and Outreach.

Central Research Facility: is a common instrument and fabrication facility created to support students in their research. It offers state-of-the-art analytical and instruments which are manned by extremely qualified individuals
Central Workshop: Caters to the fabrication needs of students doing product design & manufacturing courses, minor projects, Master’s thesis, or even Doctoral research.
Nanoscale Research Facility: NRF focuses on both thematic areas of national importance and basic research with importance to the development of nanoscience and nanotechnology. It has state-of-the-art equipment to help students and faculty with their research.
Training and Placement: OCS interacts with the industry, management, and research organizations to ensure that the students are given the technical exposure/industrial training that helps them with employment.

Ques. Are their scholarships offered to MS (Research) students at IIT Delhi?

Ans. There are no scholarships offered to MS (R) students. However, the institute has a scheme in operation for students requiring financial assistance. Apart from the teaching/research assistantships, there are several fellowships and scholarships offered by industries and individuals for students in need of financial aid.

Ques. Can we get a refund of fees if we leave the program at IIT Delhi?

Ans. The whole fees/ other charges deposited will be refundable after a deduction of INR 1,000. If the students do not join the program after paying the dues before the date of registration.

There will be no refund of fees if the students who have registered for the program and only caution money will be refunded.

Ques. What are the eligibility criteria for direct admission to MS (R) at IIT Delhi?
