IIT Guwahati offers a full-time residential MBA program through the School of Business for a duration of 2-years. For admissions to the IIT Guwahati MBA program, candidates must appear for the CAT exam. The selection of the candidates will be based on CAT scores followed by PI round conducted by the institute.

IIT Guwahati MBA Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for admission to the MBA program at IIT Guwahati, candidates must fulfil the following requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks or a minimum CPI or CGPA of 6.0 out of 10.
For SC/ST/PwD candidates, a relaxation of 5% in marks (i.e., minimum 55%) or equivalent in CGPA (i.e., minimum 5.50 on a 10-point scale) is permissible.

Ans. Every student at IIT Guwahati is given a separate room. Each room comes equipped with a requisite amount of lighting and electrical ports, a fan, a chair and table, and a cot. The rooms are NOT air-conditioned. The toilets and bathrooms are shared (3 of each for every 10 rooms on average). Every hostel has its own history and unique facilities, but all of them have the basics i.e. a mess, a canteen, a juice center, a stationary shop, a library, a TV room, a sports room (for indoor sports), and laundry facilities.

Ans. The Institute is located just on the outskirts of the city of Guwahati and can be reached conveniently by taxi/auto-rickshaw. It is around 20 km from the heart of the city and around 40 min drive from the airport. The opening rank was around 862 for ST category students for my branch. In that year IITJEE was hard and it was conducted by IIT Bombay so the cut-off came down very low for every category. The application form for the exam can be found on the official site of IITJEE.

Life At IIT Guwahati

Remarks:

It is the same for every IIT, you have to give JEE Mains (conducted by NTA) followed by JEE Advanced (conducted by IITs) to get a seat in IIT Guwahati. OBC reservation does benefits and you get a better branch or college (sometimes).

Remarks:

This course has a cutoff of from 4000 to 6000 AIR in JEE Advanced Exam. You need to qualify for JEE Advanced with a 5000 rank to get this course. The courses can be selected in JoSAA counseling after the declaration of results. Application fees were about 35000 which was later adjusted with the fees.

Remarks:

IITs are available to all the candidates who have cleared JEE advanced exam and the college and branches are given according to their rank. You can find the application for the exam on the website of NTA for JEE main and for JEE advance on jeeadv.ac.in Yes, there is a 20% reservation for females and a 33% reservation for ST, SC, and OBC. Yes, they should elaborate on the admission process after the JEE exam more clearly and should announce & release all the formats of certificates required for admission at least 15 days before the reporting date to the institution.

reasons to should join IIT guwahati

Remarks:

You need to qualify jee mains in order to seat for jee advanced. And once you clear jee advanced if you fall under the top 8000 (it varies with students every year) you will get a seat for sure in IIT Guwahati. The application form and all details can be found on jee website. Reservation is available in the form of fee waivers both on the basis of income and merit and category like sc st obc etc. For example, st sc students have a complete fee waiver, and students whose family income is below 1 lakh get a complete fee waiver too. I think the admission process is well structured by IITs.

You need to qualify for both JEE Mains and Advanced ( if you are aiming for top branches in top IITs, you shouldn't bother about qualifying marks just aim for 99.9+ percentile in mains and give your best in advanced) All the details regarding jee mains will be updated in the official NTA portal( if I am right, I think this is gonna change for you guys as the board is being changed from NTA to JAB) And for advanced you can follow jee advanced website ( This year our IIT is conducting Jee so you can follow IITG webpage too!) Getting a rank in the range of 900s in advance made me land up here in the IITG MNC department ( in the general category) Never focus on categories while preparing, prepare as if you are a general candidate and by chance, if you are having some reservations it will be helpful later.

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur. Some points that favor my preference are as follows: The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously, The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well. Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor. Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.

CSE at IIIT Hyderabad is so far the best possible program one can aspire for in India in the software industry. It’s better than IIT-B CSE and hence, far better than BITS Pilani or IITG CSE. IIIT Hyderabad IIIT Hyderabad has initiated a dedicated software inclined course structure right from the first year. It is a course highly inclined towards academics. The institute completely focuses on preparing software experts called CODERS. It has highly active coding clubs, excellent coding culture, and the highest average package among the above-mentioned colleges. However, it lacks a lot in the overall development due to the poor campus life. You have to leave your campus life behind if you are willing to be extremely academic. BITS Pilani It has a great course structure along with great campus life. You will be very happy with the coding culture over there. The institute enjoys years of alumni outreach. 0% attendance can sometimes put forward a very lenient attitude of your and might even affect the coming phases of your life. IITG MnC This branch offers a BTech degree and has a course with 45-50% Maths, 45% CS and some finance courses. The campus life in IITG is definitely amazing and the weather is pleasant. However, the coding culture is lacking as compared to the other two. The location and young alumni network is a major factor you should consider. Considering all pointers mentioned above, it is clear that CSE at IIIT Hyderabad will be a best suited option for you.

While IIIT Hyderabad excels in academics, it may not provide the same level of student life experience as an IIT. When deciding between colleges, it is important to consider all aspects of the institution, not just academics. For example, BITS Pilani is an excellent college in all aspects, but if you have the option of getting into an older IIT such as IIT Guwahati, it may be a better choice for you. Similarly, when choosing between BHU and IIT Guwahati, it is advisable to choose IIT Guwahati. NIT Surathkal is popular for its B.Tech in CSE but not for the Master’s program that the college has to offer. It would be advised for you to prefer IIT Guwahati any day since it has been ranked among the Top 8 IITs in the country. Several of the recent IITs have been created to serve the purposes of the states. These IITs are managed by one of the top 5 IITs in India. Most candidates would certainly choose IIT Guwahati over NIT Surathkal for an M.Tech program. Assuming you are studying M.Tech to learn, not to get a job then you should definitely prefer IIT Guwahati over NIT Surathkal. If you want a job, there are several more ways to do that. If you are skilled enough to get admission at IIT Guwahati then you can have a decent job in hand in the future.
