The USA is the most preferred study destination at present and this is an undeniable fact that remained unchanged amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. To grab the attention of the applicants, this year the universities intentionally waived the GRE score to avoid the downfall in the count of international candidates. The universities are offering the option of remote learning as well and that too without the GRE score.

Different Universities with their GRE Score Waiver Policy

According to the representative of the University of Michigan Flint, most of the programs are getting conducted in a hybrid model presently. Computer science courses can be pursued without a GRE score. Plus the university is offering a handful of internships for computer science and engineering programs.

The same thing can be seen at Chatham University as well. The programs are mostly online and these don’t need a GRE score to pursue. Some other hybrid programs are using the GRE score waivers.

Reason Behind Waiving GRE Score

Well, GRE score waiver is a distinct feature for a number of universities and most of the courses this year. This is because the test centers of GRE are closed by following the safety measures during COVID-19. However, there are a few universities that continue their legacy by accepting the GMAT online, GRE at home, IELTS indicator, and TOEFL home edition.

Here the target of the universities is to offer the candidates an excellent quality of study even during the pandemic. The motto of the universities is not to stop the learning process of the candidates at any cost.

Selection Procedure Without GRE Score Now

Due to the score waiver system, the applications will be considered holistically. After a proper review, the candidates will be selected even for the online courses as well as for the hybrid courses. The universities will probably continue this till the 2021 fall intake.

GRE score waiver is definitely a great policy to welcome the candidates in a learning environment, but US universities by waiving the GRE score try to retain the number of international candidates by attracting them to the online courses and internship programs.
