    Create a GRE Quant Question Picture

    This is a very useful technique for those who are searching for an answer to ‘how to improve quant score in GRE?’ This advises the candidates to create a visualization of the GRE quant question and forge a solid approach to its answer. This works great for the GRE geometry questions like coordinate geometry where you could conveniently use the scratch paper for drawing visualizations and ultimately figuring out the correct answer.

    Restrain your Time Per Question

    It is really hard to move on from a GRE quant question whose answer you couldn’t find, but it must be remembered that each question in every section of the GRE quant is measured in a similar manner. It doesn’t matter if the question is easy or difficult, the weightage of marks will be the same. Most of the students are not aware of this and spend unnecessary time solving difficult GRE quant questions thinking it would fetch them more marks.

    Always Answer Every GRE Quant Question

    Few things to note about GRE marking:

    • All GRE questions hold similar values;
    • A wrong answer will not cost you marks;
    • Consider all the GRE questions the same;

    With these, we can state that even if you find a GRE quant question difficult, just follow the process of elimination and guess the answer. If you’re fortunate enough, you’ll get it right.

    Even while juggling through the GRE quant preparation book at the initial prep phases, zeros can be really annoying, therefore, you must remove the zeros at the back of your head and ease the amount. Eventually, add the zeros to the resultant amount. For instance, 450000/30 can be divided by removing the zeros - 45/30 which is now a simplified version. Lastly, don’t forget to put the zeros back.

    Don’t Forget To Recheck Irrelevant Numbers

    There are many instances where the GRE quant questions ask the candidate to deal with irrational equations like multiplying or dividing square roots with the same. During these times, rechecking the answer should be the rule of thumb for the candidate.

    An all-time crucial GRE Quant Preparation Tip:

    Time-management Skills

    GRE quant preparation tips include adhering by the time of 35 minutes to solve 20 GRE quant questions according to which a candidate has 2 minutes to solve each question. Although it may seem to be a shockingly less duration, once you get hold of the core concept properly, it will be feasible.

    For difficulty levels 4 and 5, spending a total of 2 minutes is considered acceptable, in case you require extra time, utilize your intuition, and mark that option for verification at the end.

    Thus, if you consciously follow all these suggested guidelines by heart and manage everything by keeping your mind cool, your excellence in the GRE paper is guaranteed.

    Ans. In case you are enquiring about the CAT percentile let me clarify that ISB Hyderabad does not take into consideration CAT scores. It accepts GMAT/GRE scores only. Most importantly, the ISB Shortlisting process is profile-based. This means even with a lower percentile you can manage to get shortlisted provided you have an excellent profile. There is no fixed cutoff for GMAT. However, a 700+ GMAT score isn't a must-have for ISB if your application is strong in other areas. According to an ISB spokesperson, candidates were admitted to the 2021 cohort with scores as low as 580, and as high as 780. So the GMAT score range for ISB is 580-780. Read more

    Ans. Of the two entrance exams, GMAT and GRE, the former is a better option. ISB Hyderabad has recently started accepting GRE scores. This doesn’t mean that taking the GRE is a bad idea. Many business schools apart from ISB are now accepting GRE scores. The best part is that ISB won’t be converting your GRE scores to GMAT for comparison during the MBA admissions. GRE is suitable for students who are considering other PG options apart from MBA like MS or MA.  For someone who is sure of their career in an MBA, the GMAT is a better choice because GRE is much more dynamic. GMAT shows your commitment to MBA and thereby increases your chances of admission in comparison to GRE which shows that you are open to various options. ISB Hyderabad prefers GMAT over GRE also because the former is a more quantitatively challenging exam than the latter.  Certain firms may ask for your GMAT score before shortlisting you for your interview. These include the biggest firms in the corporate world like McKinsey So from these points, we can safely conclude that GMAT is a better option for MBA students provided that you are sure of your course.
