Madhya Pradesh BSc Agriculture Admission is based on an entrance examination. Pre-Agriculture Test or PAT is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPVYAPAM). 

The entrance exam is conducted once a year. MP PAT exam is also conducted for admission into many other courses like forestry, horticulture, etc. but, for admission into BSc agriculture, candidates need to score the required cutoff marks in the PAT exam.

BSc Agriculture is a degree course in the field of agriculture. The course provides training and acumen for the implementation of modern agriculture techniques. Agricultural science also has disciplines such as agronomy, horticulture, plant pathology, entomology, soil science, food technology, agricultural economics, home science, fisheries, forestry, and veterinary science. Students can study these subjects as specialization during their master’s degree course.

MP BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have passed 12th with a minimum qualifying score.
  • Candidates must have studied the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

MP BSc Agriculture Admission Process 2023

The selection is made by obtaining a valid score in the MP PAT entrance examination.

  • Visit the official website of the MP Professional Examination Board.
  • On the Home page, apply for the Registration tab for the 
  • MP PAT entrance examination.
  • Fill out the Application form with all the required information asked.
  • Submit the application form by checking all the filled information.

MP BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: MP PAT Pattern

  • PAT examination is conducted for admission into the Madhya Pradesh BSc Agriculture course. The entrance exam is conducted via online mode.
  • The paper is available in both English and Hindi language and the duration is three hours.
  • There are a total of 200 questions asked in the examination. Upon each correct answer, 1 mark is awarded, and there is no entrance examination in the test.

MP BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: MP PAT Syllabus

The examination consists of a syllabus from classes 11th and 12th based on Madhya Pradesh Board. The brief syllabus is described below:

  • Physics: Units and Dimensions, Laws of Motion, Electricity, Vectors, Inertia, Magnetism, Electrostatics, Communication, etc. 
  • Chemistry: The questions are asked from Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry. Units included are Solid State, Thermodynamics, Kinetics, Introduction to chemistry, Chemistry in every day life, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, Hydrocarbons, Haloalkanes, and Haloarenes, etc.
  • Biology: Plant and Animal Physiology, Cell structure and theory, Reproduction in Plants and Animals, Structural Organisation in Plants and Animals, Biotechnology and its Applications, etc.
  • Agriculture: Irrigation system, Drainage system, Schemes of Cropping, Production of Crops, Meteorology, etc.

MP BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: Merit List

  • The merit list is prepared by the concerned statutory body. The merit list and cutoff are soon released after the result of the entrance exam is declared on the official website.
  • Candidates can check the result by logging into the website with their login credentials. Along with it, the scorecard also highlights the subject-wise marks secured by the candidates.
  • Soon after, the concerned body also releases a combined merit list that highlights all the names of the candidates eligible for the counseling process.

  • The counseling process is conducted by the MP Examination Board.
  • The list of eligible candidates for counseling is published on the official website.
  • Candidates need to register themselves for the counseling process.
  • Multiple rounds will be conducted for the counseling process.
  • Candidates can check the allotment of seats and the whole process by logging in with the unique ID and passwords provided for the counseling portal.

Ques. How is the payment of the Application form done?

Ans. The payment is done by online mode only via Netbanking/Credit Card/Debit Card payment. The fees are not accepted in offline mode.

Ques. How much are the fees for the application form?

Ans. For General Candidates, the fee will be Rs. 500/ and for reserved category candidates, the fee is Rs. 250/ for the application form. 

Ques. Can candidates who are appearing for class 12 also fill the application form?

Ans. Candidates appearing for the class 12 board examination are also equally eligible to fill the online application form for the entrance examination.

Ques. Is the application accepted offline?

Ans. Application is accepted in online mode. Candidates do not need to send the application via offline mode.

The syllabus of B.Sc. Agriculture at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) comprises of the following:

  • 25 Ques from Mental Ability + 25 Ques from Chemistry (compulsory for all the streams).
  • 50 Ques including Zoology and Botany (for biology students).
  • 25 Ques from Physics and  25 Ques from Maths (for Mathematics students).
  • 50 Ques from Agriculture (for agriculture students).

Preparation Tips:

  • Mental Ability section is mainly based on previous years papers. Most of the questions are repeated.
  • For Chemistry, it includes areas of Organic, Inorganic and Physical.
    • For Organic, you must have knowledge of the mechanism of basic reactions of addition, substitution, elimination with popular named reactions like Cannizaro, Williamson, Wurtz, OMDM, HBO etc.
    • Inorganic has basic trends of periodic table, Solubility, thermal decomposition. Chemical bonding and coordination.
    • For Physical, revise all the basic questions of equilibrium, electrochemistry, Solubility, Surface Chemistry, Chemical kinetics, Thermodynamics and Mole Concept.
  • For Biology, read class 11th and 12th NCERT Books. Study plant diversity, animal Diversity, Human and Plant Physiology.

The exam is around 2 hours so the paper is not difficult or lengthy. Negative marking is there so make sure the answers are accurate. Your basic knowledge acquired by revising and practicing mental ability questions will be determined.
