The Meghalaya BSc Agriculture course is a four-year degree course that trains the applicants in the Agricultural field. Department of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Government of Meghalaya is the conducting body of BSc Agriculture Admissions in Meghalaya. 

Admission seats will be offered to those students who fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down by the admission authority and based on the valid score obtained by students in ICAR AIEEA. AIEEA UG 2023 counseling is conducted by ICAR to provide admission in Agriculture & Allied Science disciplines. Meghalaya BSc Agriculture Admission is generally made against the Meghalaya State Quota Seats and seats allotted by NEC for the State.

BSc Agriculture is a 4-year undergraduate agriculture course. Admission to the BSc Agriculture course in Meghalaya is done on the basis of an entrance exam.

Meghalaya BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: Eligibility 

Applicants have to fulfill certain eligibility criteria laid down by the admission authorities before applying for admission to the BSc Agriculture course in Meghalaya. The detailed eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Candidates must have scored a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in class 12 from a recognized board/examination board in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • 10% relaxation is given for the SC/ST category candidates who passed class 12 from a recognized board.
  • The minimum age limit of the candidate must be 17 years and the maximum age limit is 21 years as of 31 December 2023.

The selection of the candidates to Meghalaya BSc Agriculture is based on the merit list prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the ICAR AIEEA examination.

The detailed procedure of counseling for admission to this course is provided below:

  • The Counselling Process is completely based on the entrance exam. As soon as the results are declared, a merit list would be prepared by the concerned statutory body.
  • Older candidates will be placed first on the merit list.
  • Once the merit list is released, candidates shall fill their desired choice of colleges through online counseling.
  • Provisional Admission Seats will be allotted to the candidates based on their merit rank and preference.
  • Enlisted candidates can download their allotment letters and submit the documents online for verification. 
  • After the verification process, candidates shall report to their respective allotted institutes along with the uploaded documents.

The syllabus of B.Sc. Agriculture at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) comprises of the following:

  • 25 Ques from Mental Ability + 25 Ques from Chemistry (compulsory for all the streams).
  • 50 Ques including Zoology and Botany (for biology students).
  • 25 Ques from Physics and  25 Ques from Maths (for Mathematics students).
  • 50 Ques from Agriculture (for agriculture students).

Preparation Tips:

  • Mental Ability section is mainly based on previous years papers. Most of the questions are repeated.
  • For Chemistry, it includes areas of Organic, Inorganic and Physical.
    • For Organic, you must have knowledge of the mechanism of basic reactions of addition, substitution, elimination with popular named reactions like Cannizaro, Williamson, Wurtz, OMDM, HBO etc.
    • Inorganic has basic trends of periodic table, Solubility, thermal decomposition. Chemical bonding and coordination.
    • For Physical, revise all the basic questions of equilibrium, electrochemistry, Solubility, Surface Chemistry, Chemical kinetics, Thermodynamics and Mole Concept.
  • For Biology, read class 11th and 12th NCERT Books. Study plant diversity, animal Diversity, Human and Plant Physiology.

The exam is around 2 hours so the paper is not difficult or lengthy. Negative marking is there so make sure the answers are accurate. Your basic knowledge acquired by revising and practicing mental ability questions will be determined.
