Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: Application Form, Dates, Eligibility, Counseling Schedule, Result

Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission is done based on the MHT CET entrance exam. MCAER conducts the Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission 2023. The MHT CET registration process for Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission will begin in March 2023. The exam is scheduled from May 15 – May 20.

BSc Agriculture is a four-year integrated course in Maharashtra. A candidate should have passed 10+2 from a recognized board with physics, chemistry, and biology or mathematics as their main subjects to be eligible for BSc Agriculture Admission.

Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: Eligibility

To be eligible for admission, the candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • Passing 10+2 from a recognized board with physics, chemistry, and biology/mathematics as main subjects with a 50% aggregate score or inter-agriculture with physics, chemistry, and English.
  • Appearing for MHT-CET with either PCB or PCM in the year of application.

  • Inter agriculture with physics, chemistry, and English.
  • Appearing for MHT-CET with either PCB or PCM in the year of application.
  • Candidates of reserved categories are given 10% relaxation in aggregate score.

Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission 2023 Guidelines

The application form for MHT-CET is available in online mode only. The candidate must follow the given steps to apply for the MHT-CET examination:

  • Visit the official site of the State Common Entrance Cell Maharashtra.
  • Register yourself by creating a username and password.
  • Fill up your application form for MHT-CET.
  • Upload your photograph and signature in the specified format.
  • Pay the necessary application fee of INR 800.
  • Candidates belonging to reserved categories and PwD candidates are given a relaxation of INR 200/- in the application fee.

Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: Exam Pattern

  • MHT-CET is a 200 marks examination for both PCM and PCB groups. Each question carries one mark in the physics, chemistry, and biology sections. Each question carries two marks in the mathematics section.
  • There is no negative marking for wrong attempts.
  • The candidate has to select one option from four options given in a multiple-choice question.

Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: Result

The result will be declared as scheduled on the official website after the appropriate normalization of marks. The candidate can then proceed to download the online mark sheet.

Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: Counselling Process

  • Candidates are given admission on the basis of the merit list on the board website using a centralized admission process.
  • The candidate has the option to freeze or float the seat allotted to them. Freeze means that they have accepted the seat offered to them and do not wish to be considered in the next round. Float means that the candidate has accepted the seat allotted to them but they want to be considered for the next round, in case they get an institute of higher preference. After either freezing or floating the seat, the candidate has to visit the concerned institute for document verification and pay the necessary seat acceptance fee of INR 1000.
  • The candidate can also refuse the admission given to them by updating the information regarding cancellation in their login. They are eligible for admission in the next round, except for the canceled option.
  • After the centralized admission process is complete, if there are vacancies in the colleges, they will be filled by a spot admission where the candidate has to visit the concerned and apply for admission.

Maharashtra BSc Agriculture Admission 2023: FAQs

Ques: In what languages can I appear for MHT-CET?

Ans. MHT-CET is conducted in three languages - English, Marathi and Urdu. In case of a dispute, the English version is considered final.

Ques: What should be the size of the photograph and signature to be uploaded in the MH-CET application form?

Ans. The photograph should be between 15 - 50 Kb. The signature should be between 5 - 20 Kb.

Ques: What is the time limit for MHT-CET exam?

Ans. The time limit for both Mathematics/Biology paper and the physics and chemistry combined paper is 90 minutes each. So, the total duration is 180 minutes.

Ques: Are calculators allowed in the MH-CET examination?

Ans. No electronic devices are allowed inside the examination hall.

The syllabus of B.Sc. Agriculture at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) comprises of the following:

  • 25 Ques from Mental Ability + 25 Ques from Chemistry (compulsory for all the streams).
  • 50 Ques including Zoology and Botany (for biology students).
  • 25 Ques from Physics and  25 Ques from Maths (for Mathematics students).
  • 50 Ques from Agriculture (for agriculture students).

Preparation Tips:

  • Mental Ability section is mainly based on previous years papers. Most of the questions are repeated.
  • For Chemistry, it includes areas of Organic, Inorganic and Physical.
    • For Organic, you must have knowledge of the mechanism of basic reactions of addition, substitution, elimination with popular named reactions like Cannizaro, Williamson, Wurtz, OMDM, HBO etc.
    • Inorganic has basic trends of periodic table, Solubility, thermal decomposition. Chemical bonding and coordination.
    • For Physical, revise all the basic questions of equilibrium, electrochemistry, Solubility, Surface Chemistry, Chemical kinetics, Thermodynamics and Mole Concept.
  • For Biology, read class 11th and 12th NCERT Books. Study plant diversity, animal Diversity, Human and Plant Physiology.

The exam is around 2 hours so the paper is not difficult or lengthy. Negative marking is there so make sure the answers are accurate. Your basic knowledge acquired by revising and practicing mental ability questions will be determined.
