The candidate should have passed Graduation in relevant stream from a recognized University

Course Details

BHU LLB admission 2024 is ongoing. BHU has released the LLB round 04 seat allotment result. Candidates can check the seat allotment result on the BHU PG admission portal (bhucuetpg.samarth.edu.in). The last date to accept the allocated seat in round 04 is July 15 and the document verification by the respective department will be done by July 16, 2024. Selected candidates must pay the admission fee by July 17, 2024. The total seat intake is 300 (including all categories) and the per year fee for the BHU LLB program is INR 2,582 (regular seat) and INR 15,000 (paid seat). Check BHU Admission 2024

BHU LLB Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for LLB admission at BHU, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Applicants must have Completed B.Sc./ B.A./ B.Com./Shastri with 10+2+3 pattern from a recognized university.
  • Applicants should have obtained minimum 50% marks aggregate (40% for reserved category candidates).
  • Applicant’s age should not exceed 30 years as on 1st July 2024. Reserved category candidates are eligible to with 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit.

BHU LLB Admission Criteria

Admission to LLB will be done through Common University Entrance Test (CUET PG) conducted by NTA. Candidates must clear the CUET PG exam in order to get admission to LLB at BHU. Candidates who meet the cutoff marks set by the university will be called for counselling for final seat allocation.

How to Apply for BHU LLB Admission?

The application forms are released on the official website of BHU i.e. Bhuonline.in. Registration is required and the following steps will guide you through the registration processes :-

  • Go to BHU exam portal and click on “Apply for Admission”.
  • Select Register now.
  • Once Registration form opens candidates need to fill correct information in all the fields and click on “ Sign up”.
  • A mail will be sent to registered email id and validation code on mobile number. Click on the activation link sent to confirm BH LLB registration.
  • Once registration is done go to BHU portal and log in to your account and click on “ identification form” .
  • Complete the registration by providing personal details, educational qualification details, and then select course you are applying for i.e. LLB.
  • Complete the application form by uploading necessary documents i.e. passport size photo and scanned image of signature.
  • After uploading documents select mode of exam i.e. online or offline mode and select Centre.
  • Finally you can complete your application by making a fee payment . Fees can be paid in both online and offline mode.

BHU LLB Course Details

  • BHU LLB program offers 6 types of courses in 3 years.
  • Each course is of 100 marks out of which 30 marks are allotted for assignments and 70 are allotted for end semester examination.
  • In order to pass the semester exam students must secure grades from S, A, B, C, D, E and P.
  • “F” grade indicates poor performance i.e failing in the exam.
  • “I” grade indicates that the student has not appeared in the exam of course.

Ques.Who can apply for the LLB course at BHU?

Ans. Any candidates who have completed graduation from a recognized university and fulfills the eligibility criteria of BHU LLB may apply for the entrance examination.

Ques. Which documents are required for BHU LLB admission counselling?

Ans. Candidates who qualify the CUET PG exam must submit the following documents at the time of BHU LLB admission counselling:

  • Class X and XII marksheets
  • Class X and XII passing certificates
  • Admit Card issued by the concerned Boards (students appearing in Class 12)

Ques. What is the difference between BA LLB and LLB courses?

Ans. BA LLB includes Arts subjects along with Law syllabus whereas LLB is solely the study of the law and related subjects. As BA LLB is an integrated program, by studying the same, aspirants may get a dual degree whereas by studying the Bachelor of Laws they will be getting only a single degree.

Ques. Due to COVID-19 my class XII board exams have been postponed. Am I eligible to apply for BHU LLB entrance exam?

Ans. BHU accepts applications from students who are either appearing for their class XII exams or are yet to appear for the exam for BHU LLB admission for the same academic year admissions. So, if class XII exams have been postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, it is likely that BHU will accept applications for LLB entrance and admission applications.

Although BHU has the best faculty and management, many students tend to leave BHU after a few days. They feel isolated and homesick. Also, the teachers have a lot of political influence. The administration does not let you take a stand for yourself. A lot of inter students riots take place here.

Also, BHU has a sustaining hierarchy and preferential treatment that seeps down to the education part as well. Ex-students become professors without external exposure. So they bring much lesser value in terms of ethics, fair marking, and admission system.

I think these are some minor reasons why students keep leaving BHU after admission.

Firstly, the hostel fees at BHU vary from course to course. So all I can do is give you a rough estimate through the information I got from my sister who pursued B.Sc from BHU.

Hostel Fees

  • 1st semester stood: INR 2666
  • 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th semester: INR 1290 (regular fee and hostel fee both)
  • 3rd, 5th, and 7th: INR 3190 (regular fee and hostel fee)

Mess Charges: 

  • INR 40 for a simple diet
  • INR 60 for special
  • INR 80 for chicken

Usually, there are 2 diets a day and on Sundays, there is only one diet. But the Sunday meal is special so it is counted as a double diet. So the approximate price stands at INR 80-100 per day.

If you skip the meal or go home then you can tell Mess Maharaj and you won’t be charged.

There are 2 types of seats in BHU:

  • Regular seats

  • Paid seats

For the regular seats you need to pay minimal fees.

For the paid seats, you have to pay an additional fee apart from the regular fee. 

If your rank is near the cutoff, then BHU offers paid seats to give you a second chance provided that you pay an additional fee. There are around 10% paid seats in every faculty.

You have to apply separately at the time of counseling. Attend the counseling session to fill in your choice of combination. If your name appears in the list of 10% of students you can get admitted to the university after paying the fees and additional amount.

The BSc (Maths) entrance exam is BHU is one of the easiest exams. You can score fairly good marks by just going through your 12th-grade Maths, Physics, and Chemistry books. Study Chemistry from NCERT book. A thorough study of the following chapters will get you good marks:

  • Biomolecule

  • Polymer

  • Animes

  • Chemistry in everyday life

The questions in the entrance exam are mostly based on direct concepts or formulas.

As far as the number of marks necessary is concerned, there is no fixed digit. But at least attempt 70 questions without mistakes. This means you need to score at least 210 marks out of 450. However, this number keeps changing based on the pattern of the question paper.

BHU and AMU are sister concerns. Both institutes carry forward the same legacy so I don’t think they are comparable. 

People usually want to believe that these biased universities will divide Hindus and Muslims and worsen their relations. But that’s not the case.

Both universities are loyal to their cause- Education. 

As an AMU student, my sister loves her university. She has never visited BHU but she is sure BHU students love their university equally as well. 

So I don’t think the two universities stand a chance of comparison when they both are equally good.

To say, one of these is better than the other will be an oversimplification. You should choose BHU or DU based on the course you are interested in. Here is a streamwise comparison of DU and BHU. 

Arts - For English and Economics, DU is better. BHU courses are better for Sanskrit, Hindi, Geography, and Philosophy. For the rest of these subjects, these institutes are at a similar level. 

Science - BHU is slightly ahead for most of the science stream. 

Commerce - For commerce courses, DU is definitely better. 

Engineering - It won’t be fair to compare IIT BHU with DU. The former is way ahead of the latter. 

Management - FMS is a tier 1 B-School and arguably the best non-IIM school in the country. IMS BHU ranks nowhere near FMS. 

Law - For law degrees, DU has a slight advantage because of its location. 

Medical - IMS BHU is one of the best medical institutes in the country. 

Academics are more or less the same at BHU and DU. However, big names like St. Stephens, SRCC, LSR, etc. are a little ahead of BHU in terms of teaching quality. BHU offers better research facilities, especially for science courses. DU is way ahead of BHU in terms of corporate jobs and civil services. 

BHU offers a better campus experience compared to DU. But if we talk about location, choosing a metropolitan city, Delhi will be more advantageous. You will have greater exposure and opportunities

BHU offers a vibrant campus life. Many cultural events and extra-curricular activities take place around the academic year. You will hardly find a day without any such activities happening on campus. 

The campus is huge and lush green. BHU offers excellent facilities to students such as the university library, many cafeterias, various clubs, etc. Food offered at the mess is average. IIT offers better food in comparison. Bus services are available for students. Having a personal bi-cycle, scooter, or bike will be helpful, in commuting. 

The academics offered by BHU are good and the professors are helpful. The examinations are easy in general but you will have to put in extra effort, to secure good placements.
