CUSAT has yet to receive an IIEST upgrade. The work is still on, and funds have been allocated to strengthen the infrastructure in the next few years. Being an ex-student of the college, I'm not sure when it'll be upgraded.
To answer your question, despite being an excellent college, the Ananda Krishnan committee has not recommended ICT Mumbai for conversion to an IIEST. Let me give you a list of potential causes:
The institute offers Bachelor’s degrees in B. Pharma, Food Engineering and Technology, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, Polymer Engineering and Technology, Surface Coating Technology, Oils, Oleochemicals and Surfactants Technology, etc.
My suggestion will be the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. The reasons are mentioned below.
Chemical engineering is a part of many departments in NIT Rourkela or any other NIT but ICT Mumbai specializes in it. Hope it helps.
Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai Chemical Engineering and VJTI CS, both has good placement record.
It’s not really possible to compare Chemical industry giants like BASF to tech giants like Google or Microsoft. Since the placements are good for both options, you should choose the institute according to your branch preference.
IISc offers excellent research opportunities for Chemical Engineering. It is well-known for multidisciplinary research in the field. So, if you aspire to be in a research-oriented career, then IISc will be the right option.
But if you want a job with good pay, after completing the course, then ICT Mumbai is better. Around 70% of students get placed each from the branch, each year. According to the recent highlights of ICT Mumbai, the average CTC offered for Chemical Engineering is around INR 6-7 LPA.
You should choose COEP CS. The placement record for the branch is excellent. If you maintain good grades for four years and have the required skills, getting good placement opportunities won’t be difficult.
TCS, Accenture, Infosys, etc. are some of the major recruiters that recruit CS students through campus placements. The highlights of COEP placements show the average CTC for CSE to be around INR 6.5 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to INR 30 LPA.
Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai conducts admission on the basis of the Central admission process (CAP) conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). ICT offers courses for engineering at the UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates are required to be national citizens of India with successful completion of 10+2 board examinations with science and maths for UG courses. Candidates belonging to the general category are required to score at least 50% in their boards while those belonging to scheduled castes or tribes are required to have at least 45% in their boards. Maharashtra candidates have special reservation provision as well.
For PG courses, students are required to be Indian Nationals and have completed a degree in any of the science fields. They are required to score a minimum 55% aggregate score from a recognized institute in India.
Admission Process:
The total seats available for UG courses are divided into two parts, i.e. 70% seats are reserved for Maharashtra candidates and 30% seats are reserved for All-India Candidates.
The selection for the 70% seats is done on the basis of the merit list of MHT CET. The rest 30% of seats are occupied by students who have appeared for JEE mains and secured a ranking within the cut-off.
Cut-offs:
The cutoff required for engineering branches in 2019 was as follows.
