Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune is inviting applications for admission to its o Full-time MTech (Self-Financed) Programs for the academic session 2023-24. Interested candidates can apply by submitting their applications till May 17, 2023 (tentative).
After the application process, the institute will publish the list of candidates selected for the written test on its official website at diat.ac.in on May 25, 2023. The written test for DIAT Pune MTech Admission 2023 will be held on June 13, 2023.
To be eligible for admission, candidates need to have at least 55% marks in a bachelor's degree. The degree should be awarded in the required discipline from a recognised university or education institution approved by UGC. Those who do not meet the criteria will not be accepted.
Candidates must note that the self-financed application fee for GEN, EWS, and OBC categories is INR INR 600/- and for SC, ST and PWD is INR 200/-. The application fee is required to be paid online through State Bank Collect.
Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune offers 12 unique specializations under the discipline of MTech. Admission will be granted on the basis of one's performance in GATE. The upper age limit to be eligible for admission to DIAT is 26 years.
Note: The sponsored candidates are exempted from qualifying GATE requirements and there is no age limit.

DIAT in association with Cranfield University offers a Dual Degree program, where the candidates will receive two degrees concurrently, i.e., M.Tech and M.Sc.
The Dual Degree program is offered to sponsored officers from the Indian Army, Navy, Air force, Defence Public Sector Undertakings, DRDO, and Indian Ordnance Factory as well as civilian scholarship students.

A sponsored candidate must be in-service of the sponsoring organization. The sponsoring organization must specifically undertake to provide a full salary to the candidate and to relieve him/her to pursue the programme for its full duration.

Scholarship Based
The selection process for the candidates applying under the Scholarship Category:
Admission to the M. Tech programme may be made directly based on the performance of the candidate on GATE (or equivalent) or, based on both, GATE and Interview with due weight age (80% on GATE score and 20% on the interview) and with due approval of Vice-Chancellor.
Sponsored Candidates
Admission to the M.Tech program will be granted in the July Semester of each year for MoD sponsored candidates through Research & Training (R&T) and Postgraduate Training (PGT) schemes for DRDO and Tri-service officers including Coast Guard respectively.
These admissions shall be operated jointly by DIAT and RAC/DRDO (through DHRD/DRDO).
Admission to the Sponsored Candidates from other agencies or organizations will be based on the following criteria:
A candidate who is sponsored by his/her employer and who meets the additional conditions specified below may be admitted through a separate selection committee.
The sponsored candidates seeking admission to the M.Tech programme will be selected based on their performance in a qualifying examination/ interview or both.

For the Self Financed MTech Program, candidates have to submit a scan copy of the application form with necessary documents in pdf format to mtech_admissions@diat.ac.in. However, the original hard copy of the application form with the necessary documents, the candidate must submit to the concerned department.
The acknowledgement slip along with the DD/fee slip and the copies of self-attested mark sheets and certificates has to be forwarded in a sealed envelope to the following address: Joint Registrar (Academics), Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune 411025
The application will be processed only on receipt of the acknowledgement with DD/proof of online payment. Also, candidates seeking admission to more than one program (specialization) will have to apply separately.
For the Dual Degree Program
The admission will be offered by DIAT based on the fulfillment of the requirements as applicable for M.Sc as well as M.Tech programs of CU and DIAT respectively.

I have a friend who recently graduated in CSE from DIAT. According to her, DIAT fails to offer good opportunities to the students. It’s better to choose newer NITS.
So from this, you can draw an overview of how things are at DIAT. You can go for NIT Durgapur or NIT Goa. Even if you don’t get NITs, try for Government College of Engineering, Pune. It has better facilities and placements.
NIT Manipur is a central funded autonomous institute ranking 148th in the engineering category by NIRF 2019 ranking. The placement record is 80% for all branches of engineering every year. The department of thermal engineering from NIT Manipur develops students through scientific and intellectual knowledge.
