Having a few friends from both institutes I might be able to share some facts about both the institutes. Chemical Engineering at UICET is better than Chemical at Thapar University or CSE at CCET.
| Categories | Chemical Engineering at UICET | Chemical Engineering at Thapar University | CSE at CCET Chandigarh |
| Course Fee | INR 70,079 | 13.23 lakh | 2.45 lakh |
| Highest CTC | 18 LPA | 15 LPA | 12 LPA |
| Average CTC | 6.31 LPA | 7 LPA | 4-5 LPA |
| Recruiting Companies | Honeywell, Reliance, Pfizer, Piramal Healthcare, etc. | Reliance, GAIL, ONGC, GlaxoSmithKline, etc. | Infosys, Godrej, L&T, HCL, etc. |
Your preference order should be Chemical Engineering at UICET> Chemical at Thapar University> CSE at CCET.
Panjab University is better. It is widely reputed in India and abroad. PU has a wonderful research environment. If you are interested in pursuing research interests, you will have access to good resources and facilities. PU boasts of world’s oldest particle accelerator - the Rochester-Chandigarh Cyclotron. The university has one of the best libraries in the nation.
Panjab University notable alumni list includes names such as Kalpana Chawla, Manmohan Singh, and Nuruddin Farah.
A few of my friends graduated from both the mentioned institutes and here are some insights regarding the institutes, based on their experience.
If you can afford the fee structure of Thapar university then surely go for it. Also, if you have a good rank then you must try other central government colleges of engineering in Punjab i.e NIT Jalandhar as well SLIET Longowal in district Sangrur, Punjab.
Here is a brief comparison of Punjab University and Thapar University.
| Particulars | Punjab University | Thapar University |
| Total fees | 70.08 K - 4.26 L | 13.23 L |
| Placement percent | 70% | 90% |
| Highest salary | INR 20 LPA | INR 43 LPA |
| Average salary | INR 7 LPA | INR 8 LPA |
Else, if you want to take chances in the state government college then give priorities to PAU Ludhiana, GNDU Amritsar after that you can try for Punjabi University Patiala.
Punjab University is located in Chandigarh and there are many places to visit and things to do there on weekends. But then again after some visits, it will eventually become repetitive and except for a few places which are worthy of a second visit, you will eventually get bored. So here are some things you could try to do on weekends instead –
Lastly, you could also sleep in your own room and enjoy movies, TV shows, etc. on Netflix. This is the most common thing that youngsters do. If you are among those who like to keep their rooms clean, then you could do that on your weekends as well.
Panjab University provides excellent hostel facilities to its students with a secure accommodation.
Overall, the infrastructure of the hostels is surreal with lush greenery and open spaces.
One of my friends studied CSE at Punjabi University. I can share some details about why Punjabi University will be a good choice.
All the 3 universities are government-owned, thus have a good reputation. Punjab university is the oldest among the three. It has a very large campus. Punjabi University and Guru Nanak University, on the other hand, were established later on.
Yes, you can migrate from DAV College Chandigarh to PU main campus in your 2nd year of BA
You just need to know about the requirements for doing so. These could include: marks required or seats vacancy, etc.
The students involved in the youth elections will be able to guide you. Try getting a hold of a person who is a party member. He may be able to get you in, by admission or by referral.
Also note that there could be a slight chance that in PU, the reference required has to be powerful or influential.
Panjab University’s main campus only offers B.Sc(Hons). Admission is through PU-CET. The UG seats are also limited. For admission, you can fill the form online, by visiting the admission portal of the university.
DAV College is affiliated with Panjab University. Both B.Sc (Hons) and general (PCM) are available. Admission is based on merit as for which will be better, choose the institute based on your preference.
It entirely depends on which course you are choosing. However, overall DU is definitely better than PU and Jammu University.
The academics and faculty base are almost the same at these universities. However, academics are not the only influencing factor in the overall development of students. Curriculum, exposure, and other additional things also play crucial roles.
At DU, you will have great exposure. DU has many societies like dance society, fashion society, debating society, etc. If you have any passion, you can explore it at DU. The peer group at DU is also better.
If we speak generally, for the given institutes, your preference order should be DU>PU>Jammu University.
Having friends studying in both the institutes, I can assure you that among them Panjab University (PU) is better. CGC Landran is apparently a private institute mainly affiliated to PTU.
Now, considering various factors, both of them are compared below in a brief way,
|
Institute |
Panjab University (PU) |
CGC Landran |
|
Course Fees (1st Year) |
INR. 4.0 lakh (1st Year Fees) |
INR. 92,000 (1st Year Fees) |
|
Highest CTC |
INR. 33 LPA |
INR. 35 LPA |
|
Average CTC |
INR. 6 LPA |
4-5 LPA |
Thus, considering everything, it is suggested you go for PU rather than CGC Landran.
