If you are considering IIIT Bangalore and IIIT Allahabad for your undergraduate studies in computer science and information technology, there are several factors you should take into account before making a decision.
Before making a decision, it is essential to weigh the pros and cons of both institutes and determine which factors are most important to you. Consider factors such as city connect, peer group, course structure, focus on academics or extracurricular activities, and the environment that would help you thrive. With careful consideration, you can choose the institute that is the best fit for you and your goals.
If you are looking for an ECE branch, you may want to consider IIIT Guwahati over IIIT Bhubaneswar and MIT Manipal. IIIT Guwahati is an Institute of National Importance and is centrally funded, while IIIT Bhubaneswar is a state-funded institute and MIT Manipal is a private institute.
IIIT Guwahati has been making significant improvements in terms of infrastructure and placements every year. In contrast, IIIT Bhubaneswar seems to have reached a saturation point with no significant increase in placement or campus facilities.
Moreover, the faculty at IIIT Guwahati encourages research at the undergraduate level. Many seniors have already started researching on AI, ML, cybersecurity, and communication as early as the 3rd semester. This could be an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in research.
Additionally, all the laboratories at IIIT Guwahati are open to access for students who wish to work on personal projects, subject to administration permission, which is easy to obtain. This could be helpful for students who want to gain practical experience beyond the coursework.
In conclusion, if you are interested in pursuing ECE, IIIT Guwahati could be an excellent choice due to its status as an Institute of National Importance, centrally funded status, improving infrastructure and placement record, faculty support for research at the undergraduate level, and open laboratory access.
Choosing between IIIT Bhubaneswar and IIIT Vadodara for CSE depends on several factors. Here are some factors that you may want to consider:
Overall, both institutes are good options for CSE. So, make a well-informed decision based on your preferences and goals.
There are several reasons why the placements of IIIT Bhubaneswar do not hike to the level of IIIT Guwahati. One of my friends is among the recent alumni of the institute and has a better idea about the same. Here is what he has to say.
These are the reasons behind the poor placement record of IIIT Bhubaneswar.
I have many friends from RV College of Engineering, Bangalore and according to their first-hand experience of 4 years, it is concluded that it is indeed the better choice. Here’s why:
Both the colleges are good and well-reputed. Also, your preferred branch Computer Science has a broad scope in any of the good institutes. However, the above few parameters get RV College the trophy here.
Here is a brief overview of each one of them that might help you choose the best.
IIIT Bhubaneswar: It has been recognized as an International Institute of Information Technology, where the first 50% of the seats are primarily reserved for the Odisha category, while the other 50% is decided upon the JEE Mains. The placement is comparably the same as IIIT Vadodara and in terms of infrastructure, it is largely adequate too.
IIIT Vadodara: The campus is as of now temporarily functioning at GEC Gandhinagar, Gujarat. However, it still has a very reputed technical culture surrounding students, as well as the placements, are continually hiking each year. It is proof of how it is rapidly growing. The hostels of the institute are extremely good, as opposed to most of the other IIITs.
IIIT Una: It was established after IIIT Vadodara. It is at present functioning from NIT. It, unfortunately, has poor transportation facilities.
Nonetheless, for a better idea, here is a brief highlight of each institute’s placement stats for the year 2020.

Given the clear image of each institute above, you should now choose wisely to decide further. It is suggested that you still run a check on other latest important aspects of each institute.
My friend is a student of Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) and has a better opinion on the same. The CS branch in PICT is among the top three CS course offerings in the Maharashtra State Colleges. Here are some of the advantages of choosing PICT Pune CS.

However, before making any decision, you should run a check on both of the institutes.
IT from IIIT Bhubaneswar is a better option. Compared to CET Bhubaneswar it offers better infrastructure, placement opportunities, peer-group, research exposure, and hostel environment. Since it is an Informational Technology institute, they focus more on Computer Science, technology, etc. IIIT Bhubaneswar has a better faculty base as well. During IIIT Bhubaneswar placement 2020, students received the highest CTC of INR 44 LPA.
If you belong to Odisha, you will have a better chance of getting into IIIT Bhubaneswar with a JEE score of 100. The institute has a state quota. 50% of the seats are reserved for Odisha State students. With your score you can get IT easily, there’s a good chance of getting EEE as well.
Students can choose any branch of their choice, if they belong from Odisha, also if they have secured 100+ marks in their IIT Mains. Approximately 50% of seats are reserved only for Odisha Students. Candidates from other states will not be applicable to any type of Quota. IIIT Bhubaneswar conducts its own Counselling process for the Admission of Odisha Students.
The admission of Odisha Candidates is done on the basis of the JEE Main 2020 CRL ranking but for Non- Odisha Candidates it is done on the basis of JoSSA/CSAB 2020. Candidates from outside of Odisha required to score between 120 - 125 for the CSE branch and 90 marks for the IT branch in the Year 2017. However, if you can cross these criteria then you will surely get any branch of your choice for 2020. You must have to score little above the qualification level for JEE advanced. It would be a safe line for students. The chances are low if your score is less than 125. You may or may not get the chance to ensure the seat.
The cut off criteria completely depends on the demand of the engineers in India. It also depends on the Category of a Candidate. If we talk about General Category students, one must secure a minimum of 130 marks for CSE, 120 marks for ECE, and 110 marks for EEE in their JEE Mains. Admission into CSE is a little bit difficult to predict the admission rate for General Candidates. For this, students should score above the cut off marks. Also, the Government gives the advantage to female students of Odisha by reserving 95% seats.
Do not panic and keep trying your best. You will achieve your goal successfully.
